As a Social Worker I use the MH and pilot/navigation stories with my patients and their family/friends ALL THE TIME. Wonderful analogies that provide such hope - but it takes time to develop the friendship love and ultimately trust to fly blind while listening to their mentor Just WONDERFUL! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
This is so beautiful, teaching faith through poetry and parable. What a blessing it must’ve been to learn from this priest and, I dare say, rabbi. May he rest in peace.
Years ago, maybe 2004, I was given a bootleg cd with two of Fr. Matthew's sermons. I don't know when he delivered them but one used Camus' The Plague as a metaphor for the human condition. The other was a contemplated the Bob Dylan song "Desolation Row" I'm curious are there more of these recordings out there?
A lovely blessed priest indeed; thank you for your life given to Our Risen Lord...
May Fr. Matthew Rest Eternally in the Peace and Love of God.
Thank you, Father Matthew Kielty still bringing souls to our Lord even after his own dealth. I could listen for hours , brings me much peace !

I had the pleasure of meeting Fr. Matthew on a discernment to Gethsemani Abbey. I always long for this place...even since I was there in 2008.

Back in 1998 I had a retreat there. I met FR Matthew and attended his evening talks. Wonderful man....So sorry he passed.
Thank you.
88yrs old and he could still read well without glasses.
It's a great poem, read too fast to take and fast enough to bewitch the mind

Do you know who the brother was that Fr Louis brought back to life in early 60's?
His novice master was none other than Thomas Merton.
