One of the best and favorite clowns ever named Lou jacob just a true legendary clown you brought laughter for generations here we are laughing hysterically at the circus you maybe gone but not forgotten still going strong the family would be proud and laughing appreciate the memories and a good laugh RIP lou jacob you will be missed sorely thanks great job people you should be proud way to go very impressed !!!! Joe
This was filmed in the fall of '86 at the Clown College. I had the privilege of not only being in the audience that day, but I got to learn from this master. He was marvelous.
From the looks of them. They're clowns themselves. Most likely this was Lou giving a demonstration to students. Apparently after he retired he still taught at clown colleges. The crowds reaction is probably more out of respect and appreciation that Lou performed for them or was showing them some sort of technique. Lou can DO what he teaches, you know, as a living and is famous for it. The applause is partly from the appreciation of the students of that fact and yet he is still there showing them the ropes and giving them a minishow of sorts. It would explain why so many of them are in white clothes and white face paint. Most of the things even to this day we see as stereotypical for clowns go back to this man. So, I do get why they may of been hyped to be given a demonstration from him. But even if it wasn't after he retired, I still think they were students of some sort.

Que lindo perrito, si hubiera creido que es un conejo.
A slight audience over-reaction there. Though Lou Jacobs is a great American style clown.
