Great video. I went to school with Larry at Springs Valley in French Lick, Indiana. Watching Larry go from 15ppg as a 6ft 2" guard his Jr. year to a 6ft 7" Sr. playing forward but could handle the ball like a guard, throw baseball passes off a defensive rebound, o his favorite target, "Beezer" Carnes at the opposite end of the court so precise, "Beezer" didn't have to dribble, just catch and lay it up. Oh, and Larry averaged 31ppg & 21 rebounds per game. Having Larry as my P.E. Assistant taking shots 30 ft away while bouncing on a trampoline, keeping me from getting into trouble in class (that's another story), Larry play and the entire Springs Valley Blackhawks team in 1974 was priceless. The only thing that sucks is I'm that much older now but at least I was around when all the Great Rock Bands and Larry Bird played.
For my money Bird is (still) the greatest SF to ever play the game... his trash-talking was unequalled, and the ice in his veins was matched only by Jordan. In a word: Legend.
Why is Larry not considered in the GOAT convo? Why do people think that he would not be as effective in any era post his retirement if he was in his prime? Why, what, why???
I hate watching the NBA now. The stuff they pass for professional basketball is a joke. Bird dominated in the 80's in what even the League considers the golden age. It was all downhill from there. I love this channel and wish you would post more videos. The fans now have no appreciation of what real basketball was. I'm so glad I witnessed it and Bird's glorious reign. He will always be the GOAT and all others are just wannabes.
When Kareem would talk about Larry, he ALWAYS pointed out that it was Larry's MIND that let him dominate. Or something like point at the head and talk about "the muscle in here". And also sometimes about Larry's never-stopping motor "he may have been a chubby white guy, but he wore us out". Worthy has made similar comments when discussing why he preferred to guard JORDAN over guarding Bird.
Luka and Joker are modern day Larry Birds-big, slower, great passer and triple doubler, score from anywhere with high percentage, and always a play or two ahead of everybody else.
He once said, "Michael Cooper is the only guy who can shut me down." The Celtics-Lakers rivalry with Bird and Magic was one of the best eras of any sport.
Larry was definitely a rare bird, the one quality that set him apart from all the greatest from past and present was that altimate killer instinct and able to be deadly with both hands, remember when in his rookie year he turned the Celtics team into a winner 40 game improvement without Parrish, DJ and Keviin Mchale. Know that’s Legendary. I was to start a team from scratch Larry Joe Bird is on the team a no brainer there.
2:18 Almost true - but the only person he ever stopped talking trash too was Dr. J - and that was AFTER 2 or 3 of the Doctor's teammates HELD HIM in a fight. Sir Charles - you might have been trying to break it up, but that's not what ended up happening AND YOU KNOW IT.
Can’t wait to see comments with haters talkin smack. The thing is there’s no guessing. We saw, heard, paid attention and cheered for him back in the day NO MATTER YOUR TEAM. I was amazing his battles with the GREATS. Winning most of those grudge matches with the Dr, Wilt and best of all kicking laimbeers a$$. There’s no team, no players since then that can match what the players of this era did. I remember when he signed the largest contract in the NBA, it was around 3.2 million (not sure exact #) and it was more money than we could fathom at the time, may as well been 3 billion lmmfao. It felt like that at the time anyways. I grew up in south Louisiana, and when I say everybody rooted for Larry legend, there were more green Celtics jerseys than in Boston. Dr J, Wilt, Larry, MJ (I’m adding Kobe to it, he played them and I think we can all agree he had the same drive if not more) and the greats from that era played BALL. It was hockey on hardwood and the players were TOUGH AS NAILS. There’s no modern era player that can match the personalities, talent and sheer guts of them. I’m very happy I was able to watch those games as they were played.
I was never into Basketball. I am a short white guy who can't jump. I just stated to get into basketball because of Caitlin Clark and the game is get me interested. But I really enjoyed the story and it was very funny. Glad that everybody was laughing.
I do not like constantly harping on color but it is true. Larry Bird considered it an insult when teams would try to guard him with another white guy and he made them pay for it.
Tom Chambers had zero Defense good offense, Luv some Michael Cooper, arguably the best Defensive player in 80s and probably best to try n stop Larry Legend. Benson played at Indiana hear treated Larry foul, when they meet again and Everytime Legend exterminated Benson. 😆 My Fav, wasn’t in this segment, the story of when he was rookie for Sac Kings Eddie Johnson. Just my opinion of Larry Legends Dominance
That's Jack Sickma at tip off, that Larry walk by nit Tom Chambers. Jack Sickma wore 43 not 24 and was 3 us inches taller and was a lot uglier than Tom who wore 24.
Larry Bird was the greatest player we’ve ever seen until MJ came into his own. Nobody has come close with the exception of Hakeem Olajuwon, Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan. Close but not Bird. Bird and MJ have a surreal clutch gene. No player comes close after that. Bird is still #2 and nothing has changed since Bird retired. Lebron is a fraud and would look very similar to these white guys in this video if he had to guard Larry Legend. Y’all better recognize
So the best Larry Bird trash talking story was the EXACT same trash talking story as the first one, the video makes it seem like he only trashed talked when a white guy was guarding him, LAME.
Your mom is going to be home tomorrow morning at noon time and she will be there at nine to pick me out and I will get you the money for your birthday gift and then I’ll get it for you tomorrow night at your convenience and I’ll get you the address for the day and I’ll be back at your house tomorrow and I can bring your stuff back to your room and I will kiss you and your mom and I’ll get you the rest of the day you want to come back tomorrow and I can do whatever I want.

There's no one like Larry Bird...Nobody.

The one true Goat!
Larry bird is top three all time
The greatest basketball player of all time
Could be a argument for him tho
I'm Brazilian, so I really admire the hall of fame Oscar Schmidt, and for him the G.O.A.T is Larry Bird!!! So I can't say nothing different...
Absolutely

There's only one Larry Bird.
Great job! I’ve watched all the LB vids and this is as good as they get. Thanks!
Larry Bird became Larry Legend. He accomplished things no other player ever has. Or likely ever will. No one can compare. No one can measure up.
It's only trash when you can't back it up. 😂
Not trash talking when you can back it up.. not arrogance when you can back it up.. Confidence in your game.. knowing your ability
Larry is my favorite.
There will never ever EVER be another Larry Bird.
Magic's statement at his retirement night... I was there that night...
No doubt. But there will be plenty more labronica james
@drummer8by2 that's freaking awesome! 👍
I love watching these Larry bird clips. It reminds me of how great he was.
Massachusetts has been very lucky to have bird , orr , marciano brady
I swear it was like 10:00 AM this morning, sitting in my office wondering to myself when Prime Larry Bird would post again.

Why, what, why???
I think the truth hurts too bad, the OG LB is GOAT, not to be confused with LBJ
I feel bad for Chambers, guy never gets his flowers. There can be only one LB
Luka is 1980-1983 Bird
Jokic is 1984-1988 Bird
Bird loves Joker
3:32 34pts, 13 rebounds & 13 assists!!! Wow

Key and Peele do a great mockumentary of Bird Vs Magic. Funny as hell.

It was great watching a legend but I didn’t see much effort from the dude and don’t remember him
All jump shots. Great player, but Chambers was pretty good, too.
He was obv moreso a skilled shooter - one of the greatest from range

Sadly, Bird is left wing and woke. A black player would never hate on his own people.
What does politics have to do with anything about his skill?
@RayzeCruxis no,Bird is the truth and right down the middle
@scottoliver-dv1th ah I meant it as when ppl use the person in questions political views to put down skill
Oh, gee. Trash talk. That sure makes a player great. If Bird had been black, we wouldn't hear much about him.
