I am from Singapore. I can assure you that the fried Hokkien Prawn noodles is simply delicious. If you are in Singapore, you must absolutely try it. Hygienic? Can you see how long the food is cook? Of course it is hygiene. This is not street food like in Thailand or Vietnam. The place is in a food court or coffeeshop or hawker centre, all under proper roof and with National Environmental Agency checking on them periodically.
This is one of the best Hokkien prawn mee in Singapore and it isn’t as dirty as the video footage, don’t judge a book by its cover, bunch of keyboard warriors or MICHELIN starred chef wannabe. I bet you can’t even cook a perfect instant noodle.
He shouldn’t use wooden cover for the wok which may cause contamination to the noodles wooden utensils are not allowed to be used in food stall or food processing premises such as wooden chopping board, wooden tables, wooden buckets, he should use stainless steel cover for food safety reason you should remind the chef to wear apron and kitchen cap like in most of the Japanese kitchens.
Yep ive seen this scenario too much irl lol. But they just look messy.....its actually quite clean and u wont get food poisoning(unless u have been eating the good stuff in restaurants since u were born)
This is perpetuating the stereotype that all Asian foods are prepared in a unsanitary environment. That's why hocker stalls/restaurants should be inspected regularly especially when it has an opened kitchen. There are tens of thousands of stalls operating in a clean environment and they are seldom filmed. Sad that videos like this will continue to assume the unhygenic preparation of Asian Foods.
Yep, this man is a hard worker or owner to which i am no stranger, but sadly in the u.s. if he was an employee and not owner, this would be investigated by the dept. Of labor as abuse.
It sure looks good, but the cook looks like he came to work without taking a shower. Look at the glass wall; parts of the food are plastered on the glass.
This guy is at chin swee road block 40. The noodles is so so only. Coffee shop small so you thought many people eating. Actually not. More people will prefers eat the hainan mix curry vegetable rice. Just few step away down only. Lunch time long queue.
I have eaten the famous char kway teow at Hong Lim. The chef cooked like 25 plates of kway teow at one go, yet the queue is like 30 pax long. Super delicious. Once I was there early in the morning. I am the only customer. The chef cooked a plate for me. It was below average. Very disappointed. My point is, cooking in bulk doesn't mean that it won't taste good. On the contrary for such food, it could taste better as the error of margin for the sauces are much bigger.
For prawn noodles,I prefer soup than this friend version. As doesn't taste good at all. For those who want to eat good prawn noodles, should eat the soup ver than this.
Hi, I agree it was messy but definitely, it wasn't filthy. The stalls there are all graded by the authority and they have to maintain a certain level of cleanliness before they are allowed to operate. Any non-conformity to the hygiene standard and practise, they are will be subjected to a complaint that can be lodged by any member of public - of cos have to substantiated by proof.
Vakies Of course not filthy but definitely untidy. Look at the noodles sticking all over the screen! He can do better than that. I mean it put people off.
Every food dishes from Malaysia are very heavy spices, dark and salty to cover the lack of freshness due to slow turnover. Can't compare to the hawker foods from Singapore which is renounced for it freshness and qualities
This is a Singapore created dish that has nothing to do with Malaysia's version except sharing similar names. The black Malaysian style Hokkien mee can also be found here.
