@@georgegrisley6582 Keen to get your thoughts on ponching on chop vs. with a nice side-off small wave setup! I've rotated some pretty good ones with the latter setup, where getting enough height to rotate isn't much issue, so I can get away with less than perfect technique. I see you've got a bit of both in this edit. Did you start learning them with a side off wave setup? How much sketchier / harder are they off the back of chop in a lake, you reckon? I really want to get them full dialed in flat water on both tacks, but now a history of ankle destruction has me pretty scared to go for them off chop. Keen to hear your thoughts on this - cheers!!

@@agrelon Great Question: I learnt them in chop first and then when I went to side off conditions it made it very easy to learn. I also suffered a couple of foot injuries learning to ponch. For me the key is to really carve a long way downwind (basically dead downwind). You should start the sail movement while keeping the board carving downwind. This give that more whippy rotation instead of flopping around the gear.
