Elisabethan England in the 16th century were the first and it got much worse in Victorian times. Arthur was unaffected by all of it

watching Colin [as Merlin or in anything else] is a constant challenge to rein in one's emotions because all I wanna do when I see him anywhere is hug him, kiss him and never let him go. it is beyond my imagination how Bradley coped with it having the good fortune of spending most of his scenes together with Colin in a show that lasted for five seasons and was shot over 8months per year. how the hell did he survive that?

From what I've read it wasn't the writers; it was BBC. They were locked into a 'two straight bro's' mode. So everyone involved in the show's production played everything as gay as humanly possible in response.
No! The series followed and ended closely to the Arthurian legend. Modern day audiences read into the series because they don't know it. Arthur dies in the end! 🫢😟

4:02 sure, if you believe Arthur's lips are saying a 'thank you' here, you believe everything. I see something else and dubbing over in post-production be damned
I wonder what it was he said. It definitely doesn't add up to thank you, but it also doesn't look like "I love you." It seems like a longer sentence, tbh. I could see "I could never have done any of this without you" but he said that before this part. (Unless they used another take of that exact sentence to dub over!!!) Bradley's lips keep moving well before and well after that dubbed "Thank you." Unless he had the death shakes lol, but it definitely seemed like a longer sentence. Guess we'll never truly know.
Edited to add that it drives me crazy not knowing because Arthur's said thank you a bunch of times to Merlin. Sure, he never said it in a way that encapsulated knowing all Merlin's done for him, but he has said those words, so I was hoping for something MORE than just a simple "Thank you." Although, dude was dying, so excuse me outta here.
