The Miraculous Timeline Makes ZERO Sense!⎮A Miraculous Ladybug Season 5 Discussion

- Ah, is there anything better than finding inane things to nitpick about Miraculous Ladybug? I don't think so. And so, here I am today, nitpicking the timeline of Miraculous Ladybug. Cause let's be real. It's pretty bonkers how much happens in such a short span of time. But regardless.... let's get on with it. Enjoy!
And when you think that mr.pigeon has been akumatised at least 74 times it makes even less sense
Actually it makes sense if you stay to think that maybe ladybug and cat noir are like fighting 2 or 3 Villians a say, I've always thought that, and they were fighter off screen becs like we see in lots of episode how at the start of it they were fighting a Villian then the fight end and then they go to school or something like that and the a new Villian appears that it's the principal Villians of the day.
I create this theory that they are fighting more Villians in a day after seeing truth and lie and saw how a day in miraculous is and how they like were fighting 2 Villians in a night
And I create it and base of how in on what I said up. Just take season 3 ep 9 I think like an example how in the night they were fighting the akumatized huge baby and then the next day they were fighting Marinette akumatized dad
@@nicolas._.2294 but then when do they have time to do everything else? They have school, hobbies etc.
@@kristiandimitrov7066 well who said they sleep a lot? And the school was attacked thousands of time
@@kristiandimitrov7066 My favourite thing about this is how Marinette is a full-fledged superhero, and also a fashion designer participating in Gabe's show, and also a graphic designer (?) who designed Jagged Stone's album (and JS is like a huge deal in this world, so his album design stuff would have like layers of back and forth drafting and redrafting) and then she still manages to be at school, hang out with friends and accomplish her full time hobby of stalking Adrien. Even with minimal sleep, there are not enough hours in the day. 😂😂😂
@@tasmiatahia_write_dream_change It just doesn’t make any sense. I get she’s talented and all but just extend the timeframe of your show by one year and it’ll fix the majority of your problems
Seriously, it doesn’t make sense. They’ve celebrated Christmas, Valentines Day, Kings Day (which is in January) and spring break (in different seasons!) and Adrien’s only been at school for 9 months?! I’m so confused and happy you’re talking about this.
Shanghai was in spring break I’m pretty surr
Summer break?
Old Gabe said it's been 100 weeks which means nearly 2 yrs
I’m hoping in the last season they would explain that an Older Adrien is reading a diary of their superhero life and their love story to an older Marienette that gives up being the guardian of the miraculous which she lost her memories. just like the Notebook movie. And if Adrien is relying on his memories so sequence of things can be messed up because not everyone remember things clearly.
@@dmarx0025 yo dude.. that make 100% sense!! But It will hurt so much seeing marinette losing memory after being done with being guardian.
At this point the only reasonable solution is that Gabe's a freaking weirdo and meant 9 months as in Adrien has physically spent 6574 hours inside the school building 😂

There's no way everything we had on the show happened in less than a year, whoever works on this series sometimes doesn't understand what they're talking about or just doesn't care...
Exactly 💀
In season 1, the characters were mentioned to be in 9th grade. In France, Middle School, or Collége, lasts from 6th grade to 9th grade. If a year or more had gone by, they would be in a different school by now. The production team probably thought that consistency with one of the main settings of the show was more important than the dates that were mentioned.
@@kamenriderspider5292 i wondering if their were in 8th or 9th for the longest time💀
The cronology is crazy and they messed a lot with the relations between the characters and messed scripts like Adrien having two birthdays or the lies/ no lies in Befana. The script doctor in Miraculous is horrible.
FR and the whole wax model museum makes even less sense because how did they make all of those in less than 9 months and newer heros in less than 1 month....
I never realized how messy the Miraculous ladybug timeline was😂

A couple of missed points:
1) Madame Bustier announced her pregnancy in the NY special. By thier timeline logic, she should be barely showing, not a massive bump.
2) In Sapotis we can see a DVD release of a movie that supposedly hadn't been made yet, being the in universe Ladybug and Cat Noir Movie that gets released in cinemas in Animaestro.

What's even funnier is that in Heroes day they specifically mention that it has been a year since the heroes debuted

@@msk-qp6fnim with you
Correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure Adrien said in the Christmas episode that it's his first Christmas without his mom but if his mom has been in coma for 100 weeks (which is almost 2 years), how is it his first Christmas without his mom, do they celebrate Christmas on the 29th of February???? I could be wrong though
rewatched the ep it was Nathanlie and Adrien who mentioned it, bro ngl miraculous timeline is more confusing than math 💀💀
And season 5 confirms that its been a little over 2 years thanks to the little time skip we get in episode 1 of season 5
Bruh this is funny
As a Miraculous Fanfic writer, the timeline drives me insane. Even in Ephemeral when Gabe says "100 weeks" I thought that was pretty short, but I thought that was the final say that it had been 2 years and they just had identical classes and teachers for the second year. I was quite shocked when season 5 suggested that it's been a single school year! When writing, I usually have to come up with my own timeline and just say "that's how I'm going to do it" and then move on.
What is ur fan fix u wrote/write.
@@yourfavoriteoompaloompa139 I'm on Archive of our Own, author name Mommadon.
I think Gabriel didn't mean that literally
Oh my God, I’ve had the same issue not even 24 hours ago. I’m like okay so one takes place during spring because Dark cupid takes place on Valentine’s Day, but wait? The Christmas special is supposed to take place in between season one and two so I can’t be right. Then I checked Adrien birthday and wow
Thomas Astruc really just needs to just tell us straight up what when our main characters birthdays are because there are so many conflicting sources that say pretty much ton of different dates
Also, Madame Bustier announced her pregnancy in the New York special, but she looks to be at least 6 months along during the events of S5. As far as I'm aware, NY happened between the events of S3 and S4. So by that logic, over 6 months passed over the course of S4 alone.
There is no Miraculous-timeline. Things just happen. 😂 (Just like there’s no X Men-movies-timeline.)
If there's no timeline, then whats the point in adding dates and saying the story is 9 months into the school year?
@@cattractive It’s a joke.

I agree this denotes sloppy writing. I just went in thinking "No matter what time frame they give, ignore it". I've found they have more of a fan fiction style of shoehorning whatever makes them feel good for that particular episode for the story. I am betting they don't even remember setting that 9 months timeline. It's probably more like 2 years. But they forget to hardline set that
@@StrawberryStar7 .... This is literally what I said just in long form my guy
nah they’re still 14 so it hadn’t been 2 years. 9 months would be accurate if they didn’t do christmas, valentines, birthdays and other holidays that just don’t fit into the 9 month timeline
Even worse is that in Miraculous World Shanghai Marinette says that is the start of the summer vacation.
Something changed after S1. Season 1 stands out, it is different, the characters are different; I think tere was some writer in the team that is not there anymore. I think it was planned for each Season to be a year, but Thomas said "screw it, Spongebob doesn't have a timeline so neither do I!"
In season 1 each writer wrote one of the episode themselves then starting in season 2 they made all the episodes together and still with multiple brains they couldn’t remember what they had made already…
That would kinda explain why he was so adamant about the show being episodic rather than serialized.
The worst thing is that the dude actually used that as an excuse (except that he instead used the Simpsons). How tf can you compare a sitcom cartoon with one that has an ongoing story?
SpongeBob has a timeline now so...
If I had to guess, I'd say that the timeline didn't matter to them when they started. They only mentioned certain dates because they had to or because it was a fun idea to use certain holidays or important dates in French culture. But as time went on, it became apparent that certain things did have to have an established timeline, and so they're now stuck scrambling to salvage what they can.
Guess it happened because of season 1 isn't that storyline focused and is very episodic, so a shift happened when they realised that it was time to do a properly show, create stories, timelines and etc
They shouldn't have said anything. Despite them being in High school this whole time I just thought each season was happening in one year and just never questioned it
They’re not even in high school, they’re supposed to be in the 8th grade.
@@fantasyfiction101 well, where I'm from High School is 8th to 12th grade.
Also, is she not like 15? Cause I was in 10th grade at age 15. But hey, different country and fictional setting
Pretty sure they're 14. Were 13 at the beggining. I genuinely thought they were 16/17 but guess not 🧍♀️
@@rylymbona No, she is in what is called "3ème" in France, which is the fourth year of 'college', which is French middle school. Kids in that grade are 13-15 from my interpretation (those with later birthdays start off the year at age 13). Both Marinette and Adrien are 14 because it's the same school year.
@@fantasyfiction101 9th grade. France Middle School is 4 years instead of 3.
Also, when monarch turned the miraculouses into rings, they made it clear that transition took at least a month for him to do. Honestly, if they could just change the line in that episode from “it’s been 9 months since Adrien started school” to “it’s been a year and 9 months…” that would make much more sense
It would be easier to assume Gabe sends out multiple akumas a day since numerous villains appear at night (Glaciator, Kuro Neko, the one Gigantitan episode, Sapotis) it makes it easier for me and it's definitely possible
Then I pity his sleep schedule 💀
@@lelolelolelole not only his but Marinette and adrien too, Monarch is keeping them a wake like 20 hourd a day

Fun Fact: In Timebreaker (Season 1) Tom Dupain and his wife celebrated their Twentieth Wedding Anniversary. Then in Bakerix (Season 3) it's revealed that he'll be 40 years old.
When you then consider that time must have passed between those two episodes this means that Tom Dupain married Sabine with only 19 years old.
And honestly, I'm not even surprised because according to the show you get your partner with 13-14 years anyway without there being any relationship problems or breakups (except if it’s an unwanted relationship that prevents the two protagonists to get together).
Don’t forget, Shanghai takes place during SUMMER! So, there’s the timeline automatically down the drain LOL
This is exactly why I throw out EVERY line if dialogue that references a date or the passage of time and just headcanon my own timeline cause the writers literally don't know what they're doing with the timeline
*Takes a deep breath* Okay, this is going to be a lot. The Miraculous Timeline is broken, altogether. And that is because one of the directors, Thomas Astruc, actually said that there is no temporality and that we shouldn’t take it seriously like the Simpsons’ timeline. Except he forgets the fact that the Simpsons is an episodic show, whereas Miraculous is a story-driven show with overarching plots and goals. I think a timeline is absolutely necessary!
Now to put my thoughts on this broken timeline and what you missed (please do not blame yourself for this, there is no way to figure it out):
The Christmas Special states that this is the first Christmas without Emilie, which would mean the special should take place before Dark Cupid, and that Emilie has “passed” a little before the series started.
Queens’ Battles implied it took place in the same day, yet there was an epilogue where it clearly showed it took place at the end of the day, which should mean Queen Wasp was taking place the next day.
Season 5 is definitely a whole mess. Multiplication revealed between Furious Fu and that episode a few months have passed, plus another month as well. Yet in Determination, Marinette mentioned she lost the Miraculous a few days ago, unless it was the dub’s fault.
Edit: Okay, maybe Determination might be a mistake on my part. Someone did suggested Marinette lied to keep her identity a secret, which makes sense.
Also, I found another timeline error! In Qilin, Marinette mentioned it’s been a month since she missed Mother’s Day, which means it’s June now. But literally the next episode, we somehow go back in time to January for the national holiday!
I think it is a dialogue error because it says in Multiplication, it says that Monarch hasn't sent an akuma in a few weeks.
@@boredaflol okay, even if that were the case, they’re still not being consistent with the timeline. In Qilin, that episode took place a month after May or June since Marinette said it’s been a month since Mother’s Day (which apparently takes place in May or June in France) but the next episode has the time take place on King’s Day, which is January 6th! And they referenced the last episode with having Sabine get the charm, so you can’t say it took place before Qilin. It makes it look like months, and I mean months, passed to the point of being next year, and I feel like that’s too big of a time gap they should do between episodes. Even now, they are still being inconsistent with the timeline.
And no offense, but calling it a kids’ show is not an excuse for this. I understand I don’t know much about what goes on behind the scenes of the show, but using “it’s a kids’ show” is not an excuse to brush the mistakes they made under the rug. There are shows, whether it’s slice-of-life or story-driven, that has, and sticks, to a consistent timeline. The best examples that does that are Spirit: Riding Free series and Amphibia, both shows with timelines that stays consistent, and in the same age rating (TV-Y7) as Miraculous.
I’m sorry I kind of went off, but I just don’t like it when people use “it’s a kids show” to ignore whatever problems are in shows. And the show’s timeline may be best to not think about (bc it’ll hurt our brain) when watching the show, but it is still a problem that should not be ignored.
@@boredaflol okay, I can see your point. Miraculous did felt like it was episodic in the beginning, which was an issue of its own and actually separate from the timeline problem.
@@StrawberryStar7 okay fair, I did forget there is such a thing as a hybrid show (episodic/story-driven).

I see your point about Ephemeral, and I raise you Felix, where they say that’s it’s the year anniversary of her death, which leaves a year-long difference between those two episodes. I honest to God give up. We should probably disregard what the say about 9 months in transmission, and just assume the show spans like 2 years, because that also somewhat excuses the Rena Rouge and Lady Bug and Cat Noir movies.

According to a friend who works for Zag Animation; Season Five Episodes 25 and 26: Conformation and are-Creation take place just before France’s Day of Independence celebration (which is July 14th), which places the Season Five episode; Action (which has to do with Pollution takes place in April, but it’s the 27th episode that in Season 5’s production; 527), so that means if Conformation and Re-Creation take place just sometime before France’s Independence Day, and the Black and White Ball for the French Elites takes place in the real world in the last week of June, usually on the 28th, and the French Schools hold a Dance in the last week of June that means that Season 5 Episode 17: Adoration, Episode 18: Emotion, Episode 19: Pretension take place in the last week of June, while episodes 20-23: Revelation, Confrontation, Collusion and Revolution take place in March (Revolution is where Chloé forces her dad to fire Mrs. Bustier, after Chloé and Lila have been Expelled, Chloé uses her powers to be able to stay at the school, at the end of the episode; André reinstates Caline Bustier and then steps down as Mayor, Audrey and Chloé leave for London after André divorces Audrey and a Special Mayoral Election must then be held, D’Argentcourt and Caline Bustier are the two prime candidates for Mayor) takes place in early July, with episode 24: Representation (which I heard has to do with Equality, including LGBTQ+ rights) taking place in mid-July (just before July 14) as The LGBTQ+ Community in France have been said to celebrate Pride in the middle of July and the French LGBTQ+ Pride celebration ends on July 13th, the day before France’s Independence Day, when Episodes 25-26: Conformation and Re-Creation take place as it’s mid-summer at the end of the season after Monarch uses the wish, which puts the last few scenes of Re-Creation in mid-to late August, also, with Lila and Chloé expelled, Chloé gone to live in London, Lila under a different identity (Iris Verdi) asks Principal Damocles to allow her to start class there next semester (September) as a new student, Damocles agrees and we see that with Monarch defeated (after Gabriel using the Miraculous wish to bring back Emilie and Heal Nathalie in exchange for his own life as the price for the use of the wish, for which Marinette is present) we see that the Butterfly Miraculous is now in Lila’s possession and Lila says; “I’m coming for you Marinette!” and the season ends. That means; Season 6 begins with the new School Year (Semester) and Lila under the new identity of Iris Verdi arrives at school, which means that Season 6 Episode 1: “Chrysalis” takes place on September 1st.
I think the whole show takes place over the course of the academic year of 2015/16. In Ikari Gozen, Kagami mentions that she was born in the year of the dragon and Marinette says she was born in the year of the snake. It seems like the writers actually did their research for this part becuase that would mean Kagami was born in 2000 and Marinette was born in 2001, making their ages 14/15 in 2015/16. I know Marinette and Adrien are still technically supposed to be 14 but since they've both had birthdays and it was stated that Alix's 15th birthday was in Timebreaker, they wouldn't be in the same class as her if they'd been 13 and turned 14 so I choose to believe they're both 15
@StrawberryStar technically if Marinette's birthday was between September-December, she would've started school at 14 then turned 15 pretty early in the school year.
@StrawberryStar While that is all true, Marinette's birthday was in Befana, which was in season 2. If I had to guess I'd say that would make her birthday very late Jan or some time in Feb. If she was 14 at the beginning of the show, in season 5 she is 15 (or at least should be)
@StrawberryStar ty you just made they ages more clear for me
@@rosiegriffiths9189 Except she says she's a Leo so her birthday must be in July or August
@@martelraykin Honestly, the timeline's all over the place I don't even know why I tried to make sense of it
In the Shanghai special Marinette says that its summer and Thomas Astruc the 'director' says the special takes place between s2 and 3 and in Chameleon it's mentioned that Lila returns at the beginning of the school year which is according to Smarty Pants September 1st so it means that Dearest Family takes place in January which makes sense and maybe Max means the beginning of the second school year and Ephemeral might just takes place in August??
And Rocketeer takes place in December
And in Mr Pigeon 72 is mentioned that it it's Spring Break which gives me another good reason to rant about this show
I think the passing and time of the episode could be base on Marienette’s memory when she’s gives up being a guardian of the miracle box, and older Adrien is retelling their story to her kind of like the Note Book movie. It’s like when we retelling memories of our pass most of the time details and sequence can be fuzzy and not in order. I feel like if writers explain towards the end of miraculous in the future an older Adrien is retelling their story to an older Marienette that forgotten her super hero life and their love story. This would allow the writers could get away with why the order of the episodes and time.
100 % agree the show’s plot once bunnix was introduced has been extremely confusing
The characters are all almost unknowingly experiencing the days in the year in a random order.
I'm mad that Gabe didn't have a birthday because in the episode Chrismaster after Hawkmoth gets defeated he says it will be his birthday soon. That was in season 3. We're more than halfway through seaosn 5 😐
Somebody get this man a birthday
He was being theatrical, melodramatic, and metaphorical, as usual.
All he meant was that he was going to get the Miraculous given to him soon. Or so he intended.
If it’s been nine months why is miss bustier still pregnant
Miss bustier was pregnant since Season 4 so it still hasn't been 9 months yet
Because she got pregnant only a few days after the season 3 finale as said in the NY special.
*One piece logic
Madame Bustier announced her pregnancy between S3 and S4. The real question is; how is she that far along after one season.
Friendly Reminder that in Queen Banana it’s stated that it’s summer break, and then in Re-Creation it’s also Summer break
I wonded if they actually do that on purpose, I can't think of another reason. I mean, considering the people that are talking about this plot hole, they somehow got the community to talk about the show again, at least for some time
I always wonder if the horrendous writing is intentional. Deep down I feel this show wouldn’t have nearly been as popular if it were actually good from the start
I ean good writing would be, just leave it vague to not pay attention and lean in the wonky. Or do they want to rewatch episodes?????
I think the reason why they don't want to move the timeline of the show to another year is because of how the french school system works. Basically the characters are in 3eme/Troisième (which is equivalent of 9th grade in the US I think), but if the characters pass to the next grade, they would be in 2nd/Seconde, meaning that they would have to be in another school/establishment for it to make sense.
And its pretty common that some kids that where in the same school in 9th grade end up different schools in 10th grade
So basically they wrote themselves into a corner with this school stuff and couldn't think long term. Gotcha and thanks for the Intel.
@@rossjones8656 Yup, I don't think It was properly planned out
I've noticed the timeline problem when I started to get more active in the fandom and tried to figure out the placement of 2 specials. They had to take place after Season 3 since Marinette left Paris without informing Fu and before Season 4 since Marinette and Adrian were still with Luka and Kagami respectively.
Even when I working on a theory of whether or not Marinette loved Adrian or was in love with a romanticized idea of loving him, the timeline came up. Marinette knew Adrian’s entire schedule for the next 3 years in Copycat but she never met him the Stoneheart or even started to like him until then.
When you try to make sense of things the timeline of episodes does show it had to have been at least 1-2 years since the Origin special. As you said Ephemeral marked 100 weeks about 1 year and 11 months, and Season episode Felix marked 1 year since Adrian’s mother went missing. The episode Stormy Weather 2 even made me think it has been at least 1 year since it talked about how much things have changed but there was no hard date.
Personally, I wish they never made that comment in Season 5 about things taking place in 9 months, or the writers at least paid attention to everything taking place.
The thought of Ephemeral marking 100 weeks for Emilie's disappearance is understood if you consider the fact that the episode Felix marked one year, and a couple months could have easily passed in the duration of the episode which was, of course, erased by Sass going back in time. So, the whole "100 weeks" deal can be excused
I decided to ignore all mention of holidays and time, and go with the idea that each season is roughly two months. That would put season 5 at the end of the school year as season 5 has finally decided that the first five seasons all take place in the same year.

Don’t have dates for the rest of S3 and I’m not going back and checking every episode
If everything akumatization happens once every day then we’ve run out of days in season 4
S4: Ep 1-2: Adrien and Kagami and Luka and Mari have only been dating for like a week at most which means they break up in a week, Truth and Lies
S4: Ep 3: Marinette tells Alya her secret. Chronologically it hasn’t even been eight months since she became LB and the pressures already too much for her, Gang of Secrets
S4: Ep 6: Zoe shows up. Sole Crusher
S4: Ep 11: There’s a sequel to the movie that was just released at most two weeks ago, Rocketear
S4: Ep 15: Kings Day which was on January 6, Dearest Family
S4: Ep 20: it’s been 100 weeks (pretty much 2 years) which would mean that Adrien was twelve when his mum died which makes no sense because of the photo taken on the day of her funeral (but okay Thomas)
S4: Ep 26: Shadowmoth gets all the miraculous except LB and CN
Basically there are no dates for season 4 or 5.
Point is the mlb timeline is a mess
If you happened to make it through all of this, good job! And if not just know that I spent almost an hour on this.
Oh an if we add that Mr pigeon a been akumatized like 74 times or smth it makes even less sense. So
The timeline is really messy and confusing, but in the season 5 finale is mentioned that its only a few weeks or days left until the end of summer break.
In Qilin Marinette states that she missed mother's day for a freaking month which is in May so a month after its JUNE GOD
I CANT WITH THIS CHAOS TIMELINE
I honestly don’t know anymore 😭 I thought they were high school juniors bc in wishmaker they’re talking about future careers and that happens in junior year but like at the same time everyone says they’re 14 😰
adrien could be 15 maybe. ik luka and julica are
Don't forget they are in France, different place different rules
Also, Chameleon occurs IN A NEW SCHOOL YEAR. AHHH
In my own personal cannon, it’s been two years, Adrians mom goes “missing” Adrien and Marinette got their miraculous, school starts, Adrien has a birthday at some point, Christmas , kings day, valentines, spring break, blah blah blah, I chose to believe they’ve both had another birthday so they’re like 15/16 by the time they defeat gabe at the end of season five, a two year timeline makes soooooo much more sense and puts the akuma rate at 1-2 a week maybe more?
There are 122 episodes in mlb, with an average of 1 akumatization per episode
25 akumatized villains in season 1
26 in 2 and 3
29 in 4 (crocoduel, dear family, )
And roughly 22/23 in season 5
And adding the 73 times mr pigeon was akumatized
That’s 202 times that we know of, so that would be 1 to 2 times a week as opposed to once a day if we’re going with 9 months. Idk I just feel like it makes soooo much more sense for it to be 2 years
You know what has a easier time line to follow? My little pony friendship is magic. We start with the summer sun celebration. And after 3 seasons. In season 4. It's officially been a year since Twilight moved to ponyville and met her friends as it's also the summer sun celebration again.
Ok, leave the frikin timeline, somebody explain Marinette Dupain-Cheng’s schedule?
Like, 1) She’s Ladybug (that’s a big thing on its own)
2) She’s a fashion designer for the Gabriel brand (which is like the Gucci or Chanel of our world)
3) She’s Jagged Stone’s album cover designer (and JS is a *big* deal over here, like say, the Harry styles of their world)
4) She’s a goddam 14 year old *schoolgoing* Parisian
5) Her parents own a bakery, and she still helps them out
6) She hangs out with the girls
7) She stalks Adrian
8) She’s Class Rep.
9) She hangs out with the kwamis (s4)
10) She’s a professional gamer
Like, girl. Are there even that many hours in a day? She’s a literal superhuman!
SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON 5 FINALE!
Having just seen the storyboards for the season 5 finale, This might just be the sloppiest writing I have ever seen in any TV Show or movie series. I've never seen a show go out of its way to destroy its own continuity, toss out entire character arcs, completely IGNORE one of its main characters (Chat Noir) and completely BOTCH an entire series worth of momentum for no reason. The ending to Season 5 makes absolutely no sense. Gabe makes his wish and Marinette chooses to LIE to Adrien and let him believe his father was a hero?! ONE OF THE BIGGEST PLOT POINTS WAS ADRIEN LEARNING THAT HIS FATHER WAS HAWKMOTH!! And they don't even have him participate in the final battle?! And not only do we not get that, we don't get a LB/CN reveal EITHER?! WTF ARE WE DOING HERE?! How long are we going to drag this crap out exactly?
On top of that, Marinette is a complete MORON in her final fight with Gabe. She has him BEATEN! WHY ON EARTH would you detransform and let yourself get hit with Venom? Why not drag him to the police and have him arrested first? SMH. According to the leaks, apparently the original draft WAS to have LB arrest Gabe, but GLOOB nixed it because apparently there's a lot of kids in Brazil (GLOOB'S home country) with parents in jail. I'm sorry, but that is the absolute DUMBEST excuse I've ever heard. The entire finale is a complete mess, and I sincerely hope that the leaks were false, because I wouldn't be physically capable of following this show after a finale that bad.
@@iamnotgonnagiveyoumyname1373 Believe me, I had to re-read it multiple times because I just couldn't believe that was the actual storyline. I'm hoping it's proven false but...
Also makes marinettes and adriens relationship wors if she keeps a that important secret from him, as cat and adrien!
i heard there’s about 3 ending, and one of them Gabriel goes to jail. anyways that means they have 3 different endings planned out and that was just the one that got leaked. hopefully they choose a different ending bc that one would make no sense, especially since it’s confirmed there’s 3 more seasons left after season 5.
To be honest I always thought tht the span of these events are at least 2 years if not 3...
It's also weird for me, that in S1, they said they attend the 10th grade (at least in the English dub), when Marinette lost her 10th grader History book in Pharaoh. THEN in season 5, they say they'll finish GRADE 9. So they got younger? :')))
For me it's grade 10 for S1, grade 11 for S2 and S3, and grade 12 for S4 and S5. Then they graduate, and it'd again make sense, bc in S5 they are asked about their future carreers.
And that's not even taking into account the "offscreen" episodes, like Mr Pigeon being akumatized like 65 more times, or those when they mention Hawkmoth hasn't attacked in days/weeks and such.
I have decided that there are multiple akumatizations a day, and that maybe there is a villain from the future that screwed up the timeline, and that these episodes are actually just Bunnyx looking back in time to try to get things in order. It would make sense why we get to see multiple points of view, other than the fact that the show wants us to understand what's going on, and since the timeline got screwed up, new timelines were created and got mixed. With Rena, she only had the miraculous like 2 weeks, but in the movie they go to, she had to have had it for months before that movie got made, so I think that a villain mixed a few different timelines or at least changed stuff from one timeline that created another and mixed everything. Then it would make sense why character development happens in episodes before they should have it
The christmas special probably takes place before dark cupid
and in the second episode of season five the grand master guy says he has been obsessed with the modern world and has spent the last FOUR MONTHS watching kitten videos on his phone…MAKE IT MAKE SENSE
Marinette is confirmed to be a few years older than she was in season 1 in seasons 4 and 5
If it actually is that wouldn't make any sense cuz in s2 turned 14 which means she was 13 in s1 and the time passed is 9 months from s1-5 but atp I'm not even going to understand the logic behind the show's timeline
No, she's not. In both Befana and Dearest Family it's stated that she's 14.
@Miraculous Fan25 the creator of the show as stated that she is a few years older than she was in season 1 and a few generally means more than one so two years older does make sense and who ever originally started the shows time line is 9 months from seasons 1 to 5 is entirely wrong and yes i have seen every single episode and it was been confirmed that seasons 3 takes place a year later from season 1 and season 4 with the 100 weeks of adriens mom missing is indeed right at the 2 year mark and season 5 a little bit of a time skip from the end of season 4 so season 5 time frame is indeed 2 years after season 1 and one episode seems to imply that Marinette is about to start high school soon
@@xDeath35 He's stated hundreds of times that all five seasons happen in the same school year. She can't have multiple birthdays in the same school year.
@@miraculousfan2520 yes. This makes sense. What doesn’t makes sense and what Dylan was trying to talk about is that the literal creator of the show has stated otherwise! Which is just so confusing 😂😂😂
We just have to accept that the whole series up to season 5 happens in 9 months. Yes we've heard and seen something else, but it's what they're going for now. The point is that this one school year is ending in season 5.
i am pretty sure in the show they say it is has been a year but now it says it has been 9 months and the episode i am referring to is stormy weather 2 were they say it has been a year so ya it doesn't make sense at all
I think the reason for the inconsistencies is simple: French school system. They made a mistake with setting the story at "collége" which is the French version of middle school. If multiple years passed in the story by now they should be practically graduate high school (a different school!) I guess at the beginning they didn't exactly count with the show running as long as it does, so at the beginning they were more relaxed with the timeline. But once the show took off, they realized they have a problem. The class should be in a different school by now... Many cartoons and even live action shows have similar problems. Hence for example Ash Ketchum being still 10-years-old after 25 or so seasons and literally becoming the best trainer in the "non-existent time" since the start of his journey. The creators messed up very early on when they didn't set the story at lycée (high school), which would have given them at least 3 years to work with instead of 1....
I think they haven't gone to the new school year because they need to have all the classmates togheter and they can't do that on summer break. I mean they could still hang out outside school, but i don't think the writers know what to do with them on break.
Edit: Wanted to mention that they are all in 9th grade, we know this from the 8th grade flashbacks in the episode Derision. Year 10 is when high school starts in france, so it's possible they will not be together in highschool, so another reason for the writers to keep them together in 9th grade.
I tried figuring out the Miraculous timeline once by pretending the holidays didn't exist (or rather assuming they have different dates in-universe) and discounting some lines as dialogue errors, but I ultimately ended up confusing myself further and giving up, when even without them the timeline failed to make sense. There was no picking apart to do; I really tried my best. The only fact that was made clear to me through my research was that somehow, despite these dozens of inconsistencies, not a single year had indeed gone by; both Adrien and Marinette only had one birthday over the course of the show...
My main theory is this is an after effect of Sazz using his power to go back and stop the last reveal. Miraculous Ladybug can only reset things as they are, not things of the past. So time distortion of other parts of the timeline are not going to be so easily fixed.
that'd require the writers having memory or any sort of brain matter
But that would only work if the characters remembered the event, which they dont. An marinetter herself cant time travel as excuse. And even if we countsh turns back time a bit with undoing, it still is way too much, on top to all the stuff she does beside fighting crime.
@@marocat4749 Someone (maybe in the past) used the Rooster to get the power to "mess with time for the lols" and that's why everything makes no sense
@@therealchaosguy Rooster being used for Time Travel would have to be done in a way that doesn't conflict with the Rabbit (multiverse method) or Snake (a closed loop for one).
Theoretically, yes, it _could_ be done, but do you understand how absolutely bats--it would be?!
right now the only thing that confuses me is how I'm still watching this show
It's not smart, but it's good fun.
lmaoo me too
It almost feels like they planned for season 1 to take a full school year and then have season 2 start a new school year, but then they just forgot
I agree, the miraculous timeline makes no sense so I just try not to think about it too much
So, I've only been watch Miraculous Ladybug since July 1, 2022 & I've noticed the timeline issue as well.
There's a few episodes in Seasons 4/5 that take place on the same days. Most of Season 5 are overlapping one another.
I did a little research and actually been two years since Origins
finaly someone talking about this
canonically, since the series began, up to now, a little over two years have passed, what was said in transmission, about nine months, must be a dubbing or continuity error.
Apparently there are no seasons in France and the weather is exactly the same in February as it is in Sept and June.
Also in Santa Claws, Nathalie says to Gabriel that it's Adrien's first Christmas without his mother. This timeline its even more complicated as the FNAF Lore.
The fact that there are TWO Christmas episodes is proof enough that the writers are on crack.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one confused about this.
But smarty pants. As a spirit of chaos once said. What fun is there in making sense?
ephemeral was the 100th episode for the show that is the reason for saying 100 even though it doesn’t make since
Since ladybug and cat noir are popular icons it makes sense that Thomas Astruc can make and release a movie within just a few months
You broke my head. I am now under a mind blank.
Edit: In my opinion, they shouldn't even show the dates or say them in the show.
The episode dates can be animation error, but the lines still does not match lol, in Stormy Weather Aurore says that this is the first day of summer..., in Chameleon Marinette says that Lila came after the summer holiday +Dearest Family and Shanghai special, but the Ephemeral line is not a mistake, if there was a 1 year timeskip in the episode, but Sass deleted it
You're so bold Smarty Pants. I gave up on the timeline of this show a long time ago! Did wonders for my sanity 🤣🤣
I honesly think it shouldn't matter at all. It should be just a silly show that doesn't have a set timeline and that would be okay if they didn't start going all serious and wacky with the writing in sezons 3-5. It would've been absolutly ok if they didn't start dumping very, very serious and long lasting development all the time and it was an episotic show like Fineas and Ferb for example where all goes back to normal at the end of the episote and hawk moth stays hawk moth not someting ealse.
Given, I am not the target audience, but I´ve been sick for the past three weeks and randomly stumbled accross the disney channel and since my brain was slush anyways I watched like 20 random episodes and now thought ok well my delirious brain was somewhat entertained might as well watch the dang thing...so now I found my way to the first episodes of the first season and thought it must be really interesting to see all the characters as they were 5 seasons ago...turns out, I literally had to look whether or not I got the right episodes. There is barely any difference. And I said that when I got to the Pharao episode. There is some weird stuff that happened in between and the characters are written with a bit more personal focus in the last season (maybe) but it totally didn´t entice me to watch the series, well like said, I am not the target audience. But watching Big City Greens and Owlhouse worked perfectly fine. With this tho...I can´t imagine trying to sit through a 5 season long nothing burger. It always seems like every episode has some development but really comparing the changes of season 1 and 5 it feels like nothing much OF SIGNIFICANCE (aka something other than "I love Adrian" "I love the Cat" "I can´t decide which"...more like changes of "here are the Kwamis? that make all your friends have superpowers, this should change some stuff, right???") has happened.
It feels kinda like Pokemon. Every new region has new Pokemen but Ash stays the same every season, gotta catch em all, with the big thing being a champion at which point the series instantly ends. Which makes me feel like this series will also drag endlessly until they find love at the final episode and every episode before that will surely have new drama but they will still do the same thing over and over again without becoming any wiser on the journey.
How much cooler a story it would have been if Pharao actually managed to resurrect Nofretete, sacrificing ladybug and her friend and that actually makes Marinette and her become besties after she had to fear exposure of her secret identity before that....but no, now I think that season 1 is just 24 villain of the day episodes with no evolution whatsoever and it makes me not even wanna watch those really, much less watching up to season 4 where I appearently "started" and thought we had to get to those points somehow.
Literally impossible. Either all of the dates are wrong and the episodes cleanly fit into 10 months or at least 2 years passes. I hate seeing this nonsense in fiction. The game ColorfulStage has done this same crap where they released a new update stating that the characters are now in their second year of school but 2 full years of story has already passed for their 1st year of school. Like 2 years cannot exist in 1 and it’s canon that two separate Valentine’s Day events happens and even reference the previous years one but somehow they’re all still the same age in the same calendar school year. Not to mention all of the other events and chronological character development. All they had to do was say it was year 3 for them and not year 2. A single digit change and the whole timeline isn’t a collapsing paradox. Miraculous is way worse because of the lucky charm and venom just to name a few working differently depending on the plot. The poor character development that goes backwards at times and has poor motivation for the characters. Is Lyla just an insecure lier who is mad at ladybug like she’s an immature baby or is she the most intelligent character in the series thanks to the show now no longer being a kids show? Is cat noir a competent hero who is a respected partner to ladybug of sidelined and mistreated because ladybug fears his power when he’s already proven himself and she has almost become akumatized several time while cat noir has zero. She forgets that the whole situation was her fault in the first place for both times cat noir was akumatized and defeated. Then when she has no one else left she is forced to go back to trusting him. Don’t forget Chloe too, but who could?
I think the thing to remember is A: the nine months was spoken by Gabriel and B: That man is insane. Maybe try to justify why he *THINKS* it's only been nine months.
Maybe the damage done to his arm has gotten to his brain.
This is cannon to me. His mind is falling apart, but no one other than Natale will do or say anything about this.
Turns out the whole show was a fever dream of Emilie's.
It was said by Max actually, not Gabriel
Thank you for talking about this, the time frame is so confusing.
All I know for sure is that in the season 3 episode "Felix" Nathalie states that it is the 1-year anniversary of Emilie's disappearance.
In the season 4 episode "Ephemeral" Shadowmoth says that Emilie has been gone for 100 weeks. That would mean that 48 weeks have passed since "Felix," but there is one caveat to that: there was some sort of timeskip of Marinette and Adrien's relationship which then gets undone when Sass resets the past, so it's possible that while 48 weeks passed in the Ephemeral timeline, less time passed in the final timeline, but there's no clue of how long that timeskip was.
Then early in season 5 there is an explicit timeskip where Ladybug and Cat Noir note that there have been no akumatizations in "weeks."
My brain hurts from thinking on where we are on the date. 😅
I decided to pretend some episodes didn't exist. I choose my own destiny.
Whaaat? You're telling me that multiple years worth of actual story progression _(inside_ the show, not just that it's been running for this many years) is just 9 months? Silly me, and here I thought everyone was around 17 by this time!... is what I would say if a bunch of characters didn't act out of character as if they were children. I'm looking at you, Alya with all your excusing of Lila, what have they done to her. She used to be so based besides that little caveat ._.
@Chase Not outside the realm of possibility, different countries and even different schools have different rules. Could be easily explained, that is a non-issue.
idk why you thought that. they’re clearly all 14-15
@@iiii12345 As defined by the Cambridge Dictionary: sarcasm (noun) - the use of remarks that clearly mean the opposite of what they say, made in order to hurt someone's feelings or to criticize something in a humorous way.
Because they’re just writing it as they please and not referencing their own material
Something else that makes zero sense is that even tho in Season 1 Alya said that they are in 10th grade, Miss Buestuia said they are in junior high, if anyone lives in France pls tell me that makes since to you 😅
That’s really more the English dub’s fault bc they made the students in high school, but in reality in terms of being in Paris, France and according the French Education System, they should be in collège which means they should be in secondary education (aka middle school), especially since they’re 13-14 in the beginning of the series. So really it’s more the dub’s fault than the timeline in general, but it also still makes the whole timeline messy anyway.
Edit: I apologize if I got anything wrong about the French Education System.
Maybe they go to a special school
Going of Marinette and Adrien turning 14 and Alix turning 15 (likely held back a grade), they should be in 9th grade. Oh the inaccuracy.
My theory is that ladybug and cat noir are fighting like between 1-3 villian a day.
I mean lets just take lie and the truth episode where ladybug and cat noir fights 2 Villians in one night
OR
the season 4 ep 25, 26 and season 5 ep 1,(a little from 2) and 3 happened in 1 day, like 5 episode were a whole day
This would also explain how Mr pigeon and others were akumatized a lots of times but we didn't saw them
An also very good thing that helped me to make this theory is tagt there were lots of episode were ladybug and chat noir were at the start of the ep fighting wich an Villian then they got to school then they were fighting wich the "principal Villians" to say so of that day
The Holiday Special takes place in December, so it takes place chronologically between Lady WiFi and Dark Cupid (but the Miraculous Wiki and Wikipedia both say the Holiday Special is in Season 2, which doesn’t make any sense at all).
I can honestly say...none of this bothered me as I didn't notice any of it. 😅 I don't think it was meant to be analyzed by adults, but enjoyed by children. I think when you're writing, you get an idea and you just go with it, regardless of the date. In a serious, adult show, you would have to make it square up with the existing timeline, but with a kid's show, I just don't think it's important, because kids really don't care. Again, I didn't even notice. The course of the calendar wasn't a thought on my mind as I watched these episodes. The chronology of events as they related to the characters (Alya getting the fox, Gabe getting hit with a cataclysm, etc) and the continuance of those established plots are what I did pay attention to and for the most part, they did okay. In a kids show, you can celebrate Christmas, then Halloween, then Valentine's Day, then Christmas again, and it's fine. As long as the episodes are good, character growth is consistent, and established plots stay relevant, then kids really don't care all that much and since they are the target audience, it gives the writers a hell of a lot of creative license. Don't overthink it, just have fun and enjoy the ride.
...now, when they screw up the timeline in things like the Marvel or DC verse, then we have a problem. 🤨
Me who watched all the episodes then quit and continued like nothing happened 😃
also in s5 alone they mention that Gabriel/Monarch lays low for WEEKS while destroying the miraculous into rings and the alliances and planing everything that will happen in the finale with Tsurugi-san. so that doesn't even fit within the June time frame lol
Also in the Kings Day Episode marinette gets a small scooter from her grandma and we see her driving around with it in season 4 + 5 wich doesn’t make any sense either because the legal driving age in France is at least 16 for such vehicles. So cannonly in my eyes she’s at least 16 yo
I wish astruck had waited to air this series until he had it all flushed out and polished. It's a complete train wreck but you can tell it had potential
It's not just the season that's played out of order, its the whole show!
