Funny how tastes differ. To me it's one of his very best solo's. Up there with Night By Night, Heaven Sent etc.. either way: WOW, you nailed this. Never heard anyone getting THIS close to the original. Amazing video. So much value!
So kind of you. Thanks! I gained a whole new appreciation for this one - and George’s immortal left hand accuracy and dexterity - after working this up. Take care! 😎👍🏻🎸 G
Killer tutorial son! You definitely been woodshedding the hell out of it. He made your job hard because it’s definitely a comped solo. Doesn’t takeaway from the brilliance of the parts themselves but it makes it hard to play it contiguously for sure. Well done.
You guys really think there were overdubs? I only ask cause I'm sure you've seen the same videos I have from that era. You know the one where he's doing the outtakes in the studio next to that engineer who looks like Kid Rock? He's on fire in that video, even by Lynch standards. Or this live version here at 2:52. Doesn't matter either way of course but being strictly objective, I have to wonder. th-cam.com/video/HjDUsOh1Cgg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XfhZVPcJgtPkGL4t
@@drefrazier4266 we’ll never know. I’ve pulled MANY of George’s solo apart under the microscope. There are some INCREDIBLY tight fits between different run types here. His fluidity is brilliant, but George was known for piecing things together in the studio. I mean… the tapping transition has NO daylight between it and the prior passage. He is GL. I am not. Certainly no objection to giving him the benefit of the doubt. Great chat! G
I have never given this one the time of day either, always just seemed like some off the cuff stuff and I never thought too much about it. Man was I wrong about that, there is a lot of really intricate tricky stuff in here. It would probably be really good for my chops to work this out and practice it. I've always been confused why George claims to not know theory. Not too many guys can stay in key in C# without at least knowing some! Great video, hopefully I won't procrastinate and will be coming back to watch again a few times with a guitar in hand haha. Cheers!
No two ways about it. GL was known for comping his solos on the studio. (Nothing wrong with that, of course). There are many low percentage maneuvers and tight squeezes in this one. In my mind, its a near zero possibility that that was played in a single, contiguous take. To your point, specifically, something like this doesn’t just spontaneously pop out of someone. Thanks for watching, MacCauly! 🙂🎸👍🏻 G

Thanks, cuz! It was quite a bit of work, for sure.
No one comps like GL. 😎🎸

Great hearing from you again!
It will definitely tighten up one’s left hand and phrasing.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Yes! Thank you for taking the time to break this down. 🤝
My pleasure, P! You’re welcome.

Goddamn awesome video! This is crazy good information. More lessons along these lines would be insanely appreciated. Thank you George!
Thanks, Josh! You are welcome.
Always happy to share.

All I Want and River Of Love are always some Lynch Mob solos I've wanted to learn. Also Believers Of The Day and Main Offender
I get asked about RoL fairly frequently. I’ll keep that in mind, but that auto wah will be tedious to transcribe through.
Cheers!
G
@@gbalulis that's precisely why I've had issues working out what George is doing. The wah really makes it awkward
River of love roolz!
@@Davinchistragicloss I love the catchy lead part in the intro and chorus. So melodic and follows the chords well. Very satisfying to play
So he built this solo? It is insane to think he just ripped all this in one huge chunk.
