  • Swimming in the Aare River requires precautions.
But attention! The river in Bern looks harmless, and yet it is a mountain river and you should not forget about it. On the way you may encounter whirlpools and rapids, you need to be a very confident swimmer and have enough experience. Therefore, it is advisable to start in a pair or in a group with experienced people. Every year the river demands a "tribute" in the form of human lives. Often too self-confident swimmers set off and, without calculating their strength, even die. So be careful
How to swim in the Aare River?
Summer in Switzerland. Summer activities in Bern, including rafting on the river Ara, which flows through Bern and flows into the Rhine
What do you need to do? For starters, go upstream for a certain distance. Then jump into the water. Or carefully enter it for those who do not like unnecessary risk and know the right places. Then take a deep breath, exhale and swim "by the will of the waves" - and just as carefully exit along one of the many ladders arranged along the banks of the river. And so you can repeat it once or twice until you get tired or freeze!
Camping Eichholz . Bern / Switzerland
The campsite is located on the banks of the Aare River in a green area. A large tent meadow allows you to freely choose the space. There is space for about 300 tents and 50 caravans or motorhomes.
    Open from 13. April
    until 30 September 2023
    07:30h - 22:00h

The thing to Remember is when you want to get out of the river, do NOT try to swim directly sideways to the bank. You'll just tire yourself out & get nowhere. Look for a point about a hundred metres ahead of you where you want to get out, then swim gently at an angle towards it until you reach it.

@@a-travelvideo Cheers. The locals gave me that advice when I lived there. They said most people who drown got tired trying to get out & panicked. It's an absolutely beautiful river & an amazing place to swim but you have to respect the power of the current. By the way I must have dived off that bridge 100s of times!

@@papalegba6796 You are absolutely right, the water in the river is also cold, not everyone can withstand such a temperature. Oh, you jumped from the bridge, it's brave, I'm not))) Thanks☺️

@@a-travelvideo Yes that's true, if it's a really hot day then jumping straight in can give you a shock & stop your breathing or make you swallow water. Best enter the river slowly at the beach or steps so you're used to the temperature.

Ese río es utilizado como medio de transporte por los ciudadanos del lugar, ponen la ropa en las bolsas amarillas y se van a nado para sus casas

@@hendriafrizal5503 under this bridge it is not that deep, maybe 2 meters. so you have to be careful and not jumping in head first. i don't know what the creator of this video means with the 200 meters depth because that is totally wrong.

I'm guessing he falsely included Thunersee as part of the Aare river... Thunersee is ~220 metres depth. But yeah theres no way the actual river is 200 metres😂@@sicksimeonsamurai8897
