Looks like someone started him before you got him, although I can see holes. Why the rush to get on his back, especially when he is so young and SO small?
No one started him. I’m connected with both the previous owner, and the breeder. I got him green. Not to mention the fact that I went through the process of starting him, and I believe that no one had been on him, nor had he ever seen a saddle and pad. He was Halter broke, and lived the most of his 2 years and 4 months on unkept pasture grass. So he got behind on growth. I’ve had him for close to one month now, on great feed and hay. I can already see the growth. My Facebook is - The Freelance Cowboy - if you care to keep up with us. 🙂
To answer your question, I start horses young at 2 years old. They come way nicer that way in my opinion, and start easier and better. I will keep things light for the first few months on him. Just get him acclimated to riding and listening and feeling for ques. By December, will turn it up a notch and get going more. He will be 3 in April, and I want him ready for futurity. Whatever that means
