Storytime: A Hair Raising Adventure

Well, hello! I am so glad you dropped by for storytime. One of the biggest reasons I love books and sharing stories is because it allows the reader to be transported anywhere. Sharing stories with your children is a great way to get those young minds stimulated and those creative juices flowing. This week, I am sharing, "Hair Love", by Matthew Cherry, Illustrated by Vashti Harrison. Hair is a big deal, believe it or not. For many people of color, recent headlines have shed light on the fact that wearing our hair the way it naturally grows out of our heads or styling it in braids and locs is deemed controversial, unkept, or unclean. This simply is not the case. In fact, legislation, like The Crown Act 2019, recently introduced in many states, makes it unlawful to discriminate on hairstyles and texture.
