That then got a producer to polish, and then had the footage sent to the video editor to clip it together, that then came back to the sound engineer, to master the final video edit. to have it released as. ‘dude in his room playing bass sounds and looks like this’
it has more production then MTV shows had 25 years ago. it’s a circus act, it’s as impressive as swallowing a sword while juggling fire. it’s as far removed from good music as a 6month beginner playing smoke on the water is. it sounds like programmed video game crap. ur guna blast this in ur car? ur going to put it on to enjoy in ur home? fuck no ur not, and u know it, because it’s not music. it’s an act.

As someone who plays guitar/bass and listen to to videos like these a lot, I can tell you there is no tangible difference. All differences you may hear are just different playing styles/amp settings, not the strings making a difference. Saying standard bass strings and gold strings sound different is the same notion as saying different gauge strings sound different. There might be a super minute difference but in the end, it’s irrelevant. The only thing that makes bass strings sound different is the brand and depending on if the strings are flat wounds or round wounds. Even then, if you get super cheap strings, there isn’t a huge difference but it’s still noticeable. The main difference is that cheap strings never stay in tune and might be harder to play with.

@@owenklein1917 That's not quite correct. Gauge will MASSIVELY change your tone, as even though you may be in the same frequency with your "loudest" wavelengths, the overtones and string vibrations are 100 percent not the same. I have many different guitars, each with different gauges, and some with different string materials. They all do have differences, and while some are more obvious than others, there are many different factors that affect your sound. I haven't looked into these specific strings, but I'd imagine that if they're using gold, it's for the corrosion resistance (allowing the strings to last longer) more than anything.

I'd wager a bet he makes more per view on TH-cam than he would per listen on Spotify. Not to mention it keeps people interested in his channel so they come back for sponsored videos. Spotify pays... poorly. Still, once he's built up a library large enough for his liking, I would expect to see more ways to listen to his stuff.

Yeah, you guys are both right. Artists do get payed shit on spotify. However, it would be nice to listen to his music while working or in the car or something. But I do understand they get paid crap on stuff like that. And you guys are right, he gets paid alot more on TH-cam.

I guess this seals the deal. Charles Berthoud is now my all time favorite bassist. I love Victor, but CB took what Wooten did for the bass, perfected it, then added his own flair. The guy could play literally anything, and could hang with literally anyone on the bass. And the tone is pretty much perfection.
