Bit exited what the next gen ally has to offer hoping for a 1080p OLED with VRR and a thinner bezel and bit larger screen while retaining the same size as the original and next Gen processor from AMD or maybe we can see it having a dedicated GPU like NVDIA inside.
with such domination in gaming rigs amd games is real and expected to have high qualities in near future, esp since they been working with unreal engine

Just look at Qualcomm-without much competition, their chipsets are expensive, and that's why most phones are priced above $1k due to the lack of alternatives.
Imo ally x is better choice than ally bcz for extra 100 bucks you can get 2280 slot keeping in mind that 2230 are expensive and big battery and extra 8gigs of ram which we can convert it into vram which will help in future gaming, and peoe been complainin about their warranty issue its not bad in every country so x is better choice

The problem is for ppl like me who own 1st one or those who consider buying used one which comes at even half the price of X :) I mean I want the new X but price wide it's hard to be worth the upgrade ... especially with new Intel APUs one the horizon like MSI Claw 8 AI+ (what a name)
The only thing that buggs me that they hopüefully fix via bios update is that we can't yet boot from the sd card. There are some amazing distros designed for emulation, which can be put on a sd card and be transfered from device to device.

I would have kept the XG Mobile Connector and ad a USB A 3.0 for a dongle or something else. Thunderbolt eGPUs are very expensive and the Bandwith can limit more than 50% of the card, XG Mobile is much better and you can get the XG Mobile 3080 much cheaper used. But nice Video! I am curious to see the Rog Ally 2 with a decent AMD Z2 Chip maybe next year!
And its Asus. If anything goes wrong and it has the stick drift problem (its common) they will hit you for at least 200$ US Dollars or keep your console. Their customer service is frightening. WILL NEVER BUY ASUS AGAIN.

While I get what you mean, 400 is not a new price for an OLED steam deck 1tb and 800 is the new price for the Ally X. 650 compared to 800 is a more realistic comparison. I’d recommend waiting till ally x goes on sale and look for an open box version of it. It’s still going to be a lot of money but it’s meant for people okay spending more and want to play games Linux does not naturally support

Why would you want 32gb? 8gb for the GPU and 16gb for the GPU is perfect for a device that mostly runs at 1080p. 32gb wouldn't make a difference and just be more expensive. The default is already 8gb
@crestofhonor2349 the price wouldn't be that much higher, I would suspect packaging constraints, regardless, the greater the VRam amount on a handheld, the better the performance - even at a lower wattage and clock rate.... less heat, more battery life, and better performance.

You act like you need to max out textures and everything else and run out of vram and you realistically won’t do that at 1080p at all. Besides at 1080p you use less vram than at 1440p and 4k and the Ally is not a 1440p device
Nice video man you got new sub! Quick question, that xtra vent asus put on top of the ally x, does it help/prevent the screen from getting really warm? I read somewhere asus put that on ally x for that reason. Bc on og ally, screen gets really warm after 30 mins of use.
@Limitbreak09 Yes, the added vent was to disperse the extra heat caused by the display. I remember a comment by Asus stating a cooler screen assists in prolonging battery life during usage.

@chriscole9621 it has 2 major problems Heating (and I live in a north European country) and battery life At 20 watt tpd it lasts 1 hour and 20 minutes It is not worth at all If you want a windows handheld go for the rog ally x If you don't want to spend too much go for the steam deck oled Ignore all the rest A portable device MUST have a long battery life Unless it is a laptop where obviously you don't use for gaming in an airplane or a train for example

that is totally preference, for me who love gaming on the go, SD oled is too big. ally and ally x is more compact which is the more i like. looks like it will fit on every bag and pouch.

SD oled only win in the display "OLED" and trackpad. The rest, Ally x leave it in the dust. Can you see ally x beat SD oled in 15 watt, how about 17 watt, 20 watt, 25 watt and 30 watt? Surprisingly ally x also great in lower tdp like 7 watt, you can play emulator game for about 9 hours!!!
I am just not that impressed with these AMD APUs. My modded Switch runs P5 Royal at 60fps while only consuming 4-5 watts. The Ally X consuming 14W while playing a 2D game like Hades 2 is crazy. With ARM you can just achieve much better performance per watt. The Switch 2 will probably be able to run Ghost of Tsushima at 1080p/30 while just sipping 5W.

After my experience with the original ROG Ally and Asus's absolutely horrible warranty system, I wouldnt touch this with a 10 foot stick.

It doesnt matter as the Ally X has a bigger battery than the switch, giving you the exact same or even more Play Time.
