    I've been looking for a fabric box with lid tutorial for the longest time. Thanks! Can't wait to try different sizes and even a rectangular one 😍😊
    Update: successfully made this. Great tutorial.

    Lovely, and such a clear, well made tutorial. I can see using them over and over as Christmas wrapping, and then storing decorations in them after Christmas. Double duty, and planet friendly.

    Thank you for this video! I've made your other fabric box [no lid] and they were a hit :) Will add this one to my list and make them during the year for other occasion presents. Instead of one of those store boxes to put something in, one of these will be great - and be two presents in one. I'm thinking hot glue will work best since my hands aren't very good with hand stitching lately. Merry Christmas and thanks again.

    Hi. Thanks for this video! I may have missed it but can you tell me the stitch you used that created the “hinge” that connected the bottom and sides? I’m not sure it’s only a Bernini stitch but hopefully not. I’d love to try this! TIA!

  • @carolegentry6538
    @carolegentry6538 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Laura, I have a Bernina 1080 and I cannot locate the stitch you used to join the box pieces together--the one that went "left center right center left". Did you use a certain foot to do that? I couldn't see the foot in the video. ALSO....Is Timtex similar to the stiffener you used? And would this be stiff enough to make a taller box to store sewing patterns? These are just the cutest boxes and I can't wait to make a few.

  • @SewNaturalDane
    @SewNaturalDane 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love this, will definitely save this video to try in the near future. so, I want that foot with the bar on it, that seems so much easier to work with for this project. Question, would you recommend using a serger instead of a satin stitch? Thanks again!

    I really like this idea. I looked at the specialty stitches on my machine and can't find the stitch you described that connects the sides of the bottom of the box. Do you know if it has a name? I sew on a Janome 6600. Thanks for any help. I can't wait to start making these.

    • @SewVeryEasy
      @SewVeryEasy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry I do not know what it is called on your machine, but just look for a stitch that goes one stitch left, then in the middle than on the right:)

  • @traceyseymour7700
    @traceyseymour7700 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a very basic janome, so I can do just a plain zig zag for the hinge?

  • @ashinystone9922
    @ashinystone9922 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow this is very resource intensive and at the end you need glue or hand stitching? I was looking for a DIY to make like 40 boxes. Yikes!

  • @patchee33
    @patchee33 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    the joining stitch, is this only on a Bernina, I have Janome and I can't see that on my list? Can you recommend another stitch?

    • @SewVeryEasy
      @SewVeryEasy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure what stitch you have, however please just test out a few stitches that go in the middle plus on each side. Some zigzag stitches can do it, and check out your fancy stitches. Hope this helps

    Where can you buy the Stiffen in smaller quantities? I don't think I would use 10 yards and it is quite expensive.

    • @SewVeryEasy
      @SewVeryEasy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can get it at fabric stores, it is near the interfacing

    • @dallastaylor5479
      @dallastaylor5479 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cannot find the Stiffen product anywhere that is not on the full roles. I can't use that much nor can i see spending $100 on it. What fabric store carries smaller amounts?

    Laura, do all machines have this option?

    • @SewVeryEasy
      @SewVeryEasy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not really sure if all machine have the stitch that I used but you should be able to find one that will work. Just as long as you get on stitch in-between and one on each side, thanks for asking

    i love this project but i dont understand the stitching. you never said what stitching to use or what it might look like on the machine. I have a few different stitches but i don't know any that do either one of those you did. I really wish you would have told us what those stitches are and how to know if our machines have them . I have 15 different settings but none of them look like that
