he is good or bad i am not considering it, but what he says about black money is true,,,, I also have the same experience, in my town near by hotel and milk booth they had stop collect old currency,,,, first 3 days business was fully dropped after 10 days again business started but not like peak business... in hotel before Nov 8 the business per day was Rs.1.5 lk after 15 days Nov 20 business was Rs.80,000 per day, on Dec onward business was to Rs.1.2 lk per day.. like that in milk booth also per day Rs.12,000 with out any trouble they are again started to saving their black money..........

Mr. Chidambaram has made many wrong observations
1. Digital Wallets do not ask service charge. They never will. Instead they give cashbacks which is positive for end users. Even in future, if a e-wallet charges money for transaction, it will get eaten up by competition.
2. Black money gets converted to white only if it is consumed (Like restaurant). But the money that is invested stays black. Most of the black money is not consumed but invested (real estate, gold etc.).
3. Germans use cash for transaction but do not do tax evasion. On the other hand, most Indians (esp. non-salaried) do deliberate tax evasion hence becoming a cashless economy is the only way to make them pay tax.
A shock treatment was necessary and Mr. Modi gave it without fear. It was done to reduce the pain of honest taxpayer and it is disheartening to see taxpayers themselves blaming the move.
