ARK: SE Dedicated Server Setup
To those having problems joining your own server:
(steamcommunity....) to solve this:
Once the Server shows up in LAN, start your game. Move to the ServerList and search for "UNOFFICIAL" Servers and make sure you hit the "Password Protected Server" thingy. Let the Search finish and make sure that you CAN'T SEE the server in this list.
Batch file:
start ShooterGameServer.exe "C:\ArkServer\ShooterGame\ShooterGame.uproject" "/Game/Maps/TheIslandSubMaps/TheIsland?QueryPort=27015?SessionName=MythicalGamers.com?MaxPlayers=50?listen?ServerPassword=pass?ServerAdminPassword=passadmin?" -nosteamclient -game -server -log

They seriously just need to change it to *click* “Create Dedicated Server → Now create your Server Username, now Create a Password! You're good to go!” This is way too complicated. I messed up somewhere along the line and have to redo everything. Another day I will try again. But hey thank you so much for the video! This is extremely helpful.

This has been the only guide that has worked for me so far, just remember to take out those dashes on the command line arguments if you copy and paste it from this page and once you are done with steamcmd, shut it down and refresh your login into your regular steam account. That's what kept giving me connection timeouts whenever I would try to join my server. Everything works great now and thanks again MythicalGamers for this guide!

Server is only showing up as lan , I've successfully port forwarded for other games before and I repeated the usual process for the ark ports 27015,27016,7777. Not sure what to do or what I could've done wrong. Also I setup inbound/outbound rules for all ports.
2015 and they still can't make servers a one button click. Or put a UI to it.
Why don't they just add a rain dance for the last step? Maybe it will work then.

ATTENTION: Copy/paste of the batch file string direct from the description may result in unwanted dashes being placed randomly throughout the string. Manually check the string to ensure it is exactly as you see it and without any additional characters. Minus any changes you had to make to suit your application of course.

If there was, the company providing would go down under fast because of how much processing power an ARK server takes up.

This entire process is ridiculous. It's this kinda stuff that caused me to walk away from Ark altogether. Too many other options out there to be forced to be a computer programmer in order to play a game. Still, thank God for people like you that offer these tutorials.
i tried doing this the same way as you several times and im still not able to find the server on ark
when i get to the part where i put in app_update 346110
it says error! failed to request appinfo update, not online or not logged into steam

Hi man, I have a question . I Have Open Port 27015 and 7777 but , when i launch my " Startserver" I have "bind couldn't find an open port between 27015 and 7777"
you need to port forward those ports
Getting an error at 3:40 into the tutorial. Error! App '346110' state is 0x402 after update job. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Just so you know you have a bunch of extra dashes in the Batch file in your description than what you have in the video. You might want to re-type it so it doesn't freak out when people copy and paste it.
ChallengeMapSalvage no its just that notepad registers the line breaks as dashes. They don't have them in the actual description
Works completely fine now, many servers up including mine "NoahsARK". If people are still having issues, they've gone wrong somewhere and my guess would be PORTS. Servers do take 2-3mins to appear in the list btw

MythicalGamers probably because it can be hard to do depending on peoples hardware
turbodude555 takes 5gb of ram to run the server by its self :)
I have 1 issue, my friends can see it on the server list and they can join but I can't see the server or join, how did you host it and play on same computer? Sometimes when i try to start ARK it says game is already running. I presume port forward and firewall stuff is all ok as my friends can still join. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
I have a i7 with 16gb ram so pc should be well able for the load.

shutdown steam and reopen it because you logged in on steamcmd it logs you out of steam running on computer so just restart steam and connect ;)

im stuck at the bat file, i made it, but wen i click it, i get this window, and it gives me, other things that he sould do, and exits it before i can read it.
Jesus age christ, I'm pretty sure I got permanent hearing damage from your logo reveal, it's hands down the worst most toxic noise I've ever experienced for an intro.
I am having a little problem: I wanted to move my survivors to a a dedicated server. So I copied the data in SavedArksLocal to SavedArks and server launches fine. I can connect and all my friends can join with their survivor except me. As I am the host, my survivor is locked by the server itself. Anyway to fix this?Thanks!
I know this is a bit old but just a couple of points. I used the AppId 376030 for the dedicated server, which is what steam lists for dedicated. On Windows 2012 server, you CAN turn off the firewall. Sure you cant just stop the service, you do have to turn off the firewall via server manager / control panel. Also I blindly followed this guide setting the path in steamcmd to ARKServer. I didn't realise after reboot steam would go back to it's default so rebooting and running app_update placed a 2nd copy in the steam folder and left the old one in ArkServer.
I made my ArkServer folder to D:\ as you showed us. My Steam folder is also at the D partition. After i "force install dir D:\ArkServer" it tells me "Please set the game install path to something other than the Steam install folder". How do i fix this?
So i have no problem getting the server up with the Island map, how do i make it the Center? changing TheIsland to TheCenter in the command line made server stop showing up
Really, it says "the code execution cannot proceed because X3DAudio1_7.dll was not found"

Great video but I have run into a issue. When I click on the .bat file a error appears saying cannot find ShooterGameServer.exe.
The .exe is right there and works I can open that fine. But when I click the .bat file is gives that error. Any suggestions?

ocelot20 you need to paste the batch file in the actual folder that contains the shootergameserver.exe . running it from your desktop wont work.

Hi! I managed to have my server show up in the LAN list, but I cannot find it in the UnOfficial list :/ I'm not able to access the router settings, so currently using ngrok for the ports.
Hey I got it to work, although after closing it and trying to make it work again, it wouldn't. I checked View>Servers; and all the ports that I put in said < not responding >. What am I doing wrong? Is it in the batch file? Also I have tried different codes for the batch file including yours.

Edit: Actually after like 5 - 10 minutes, server showed up; it probably just takes a while to connect which I'm not aware of.
hey man. i got all the steps correct but its not allowing me to join the server?? its saying im its not linking with cloud when i start the game 1st of all and secondly when i try to join the server it times me out. what do i need to do? please any help will be appreciated
I have my server working on lan but it won't show up on unofficial I fowarded ports for 7777 and 27015 on my default gateway ip and I allowed connections for those ports on my Norton antivirus plez help

I get FAILED with result code 5 for the password everytime. I have changed the password a few times to make sure it's not that. But it still wont log in. I'm not sure what to do. I'm not finding anything in searching for an answer so far.

Awesome video, took me hours to figure it out but it's up and running. I'm not sure how to edit my server settings though. Like I want the HUD and the cross hair setting added in, do you how I could go about adding those and more?
What do you do if you want to stop the server? Is there a command or do you have to just close teh server window? Does it autosave?

I have my ports fowarded[i know because of portfowarding tool and followed everything to a tee and doubled checked, yet still my server only shows up on LAN and not online PLS HELP :(
Just a quick tip check which drive its in, mine was in C:\ instead of D:\

if anyone still cant figure out how to fix the error "ERROR! Failed to install app 346110 (No subscription) " the number must be the number that is associated with app you are updating , to find out create a shortcut for game in your steam library (shortcut must be created from steam library and not from actual .exe in steam directory) after , go to your desktop right click properties and in the target section you will see the app number associated with that particular game , and that's the value needed in place of 346110
I have an alternate guide that *may* help with booting the server file from a remote location.
If you put the .bat file in the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64, you don't need to reallocate file location and you can put a shortcut onto your desktop for the .bat file.

Ive been trying this for two days now and it is not working and i do not know where i am going wrong
I setup the server and port forwarded. For my friends it still says not responding when they try to connect. Is there a firewall I need to disable or something? Also what is your teamspeak for help. (current IP's are not working)
I was finally able to get my save back for my lan server but now i cant find my character. I made a new character to test the world and see if all of my stuff is still there and it is. even my character is laying on the ground logged out but I cant play as him. I looked all through the saves and I don't know where the guy is saved. I would understand if the guy wasn't on the game anymore but I can see him so where is he saved? also is there any place I can get live support from anyone?

Okay fixed the login thing. But i go into the steampp thing which is where the server is called I'm guessing? I saw the shooter app file thing. But not the shootergame.uproject....... So you are confusing me in how to make the batch file.
how much time does it take to force install the folder? i have been waiting for nearly an hour and it doesnt seems to be ending any time soon
When you said you need to buy a copy of the game you just meant one copy right? I don't need to buy an extra just for the server?

Is the SteamCMD download folder different than what we got with the game in folder Steam\SteamApps\common\ARK\ShooterGame because I don't see any difference.
Maxou18 the way that i found how to get it to work was through the SteamCMD way i don't know how to do it any other way

***** check the batch file you created and look to see if the ShooterGame.uproject is the right name. The one in the description has a dash in it where as mine did not and needed a quick fix.

ive litterally done so many things trying to run this. it cant recognize the .uproject file and therfor the .bat wont open...any assistance would really help. i have seen it open in the lan and arkservers.net when i change it to launch the shootergameserver.exe but i cant connect and neither can my brother.

Its constantly telling me and my friends that we're using the wrong server password. But we are all writing it in the same as I had it in the .bat file. Anybody else with this issue?
When I launch Ark after starting the server, a steam warning pops up saying, "If you have launched this application from another computer, your application settings and/or progress may not be in sync with what is stored in the cloud. If you launch the application now, you may lose those changes or progress. I hit play game, and at first my server showed up but i timed out on every connection attempt. Now It just wont show up at all and i cant connect to other servers. Please help!

Extremely unhelpful. When you pasted on the notepad, how did you get all that? When did it say start/; shooterGameServer.exe and so on. I was not able to use these instructions to run a dedicated server.
