"SUFFERING: the ties that bind" is one of the best horror franchises with a silent protagonist. This is before "dead space," so yeah, it was gnarly and was creepy AF. This games moral system was one of the best as well. And the 3 endings was a nice touch. Made for great replay value and even dialogue choices. It's crazy to think a game like this was pre next-gen console.
If I remember correctly, if you play both the first and second game with good karma Blackmore says that when he sent the order to attack Torque's family it was to scare them to stay away from him but his goons misunderstood the order. it even has a flashback where Blackmore talks to the Head goon and scolds him for killing them. if nothing else it is a neat touch that there's some variation if you decide to stick with good, neutral, bad karma or mix them up.
If you had the same memory card for both games, the 2nd game picks up right after your choices in the first game. Example, if youre evil the game starts off with Jordans foot soldiers finding you passed out on the island still
I was brought to this video after looking at the Wikipedia page for games that take place in Maryland. Fallout 3 and Blair Witch weren't good enough answers after so many years for me I guess lmao.
Me too! I remember you could play the demo if you owned a copy of Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks. It was added as unlockable content after beating the game. Great memories!

it would be great to decide on the plot and ending, I think it’s a good idea to move the plot to the late 1970s or early 80s, since the whole game is in such an environment
They could easily revive this series with the premise they have. With the monsters being tied to specific locations where certain evil things happened. They could make games based on places all over the world. I don’t know if the games would be the same without torque though

Torque isn't a "monster magnet" he's mentally unstable (and unwittingly) an extremely powerful psychic, that's how he unknowingly brings these monsters into reality. They're manifestations of negative emotions, fears and dark memories from the past. One of the new monsters is even an urban legend that you summoned from the sunconscious minds of the cities citizens. You only learn that about his back story by reading notes you find in the second game and it's only hinted at, Torque is basically an insane psychic who creates physical manifestations of the negativity coming from people in the environments around him and from his own damaged psyche itself. I remember in middle school when I played them both and my little brother watched me play. He did that a lot because he was usually too scared to play them himself (never admitted it though, but he’d say he had more fun watching me play lol). But I’d try to ham it up for him and make it ridiculous kinda like Pewdiepie playing things like Amnesia, but this was before youtube was a thing. It was like I was a let’s player just for my little bro lol. He loved it. He also watched me play Doom 3, The Silent Hill games, and Dino Crisis. Anyways I loved these games. I bought them from a locally owned game shop in the town I grew up in and the guy there knew I was a horror fan, and he told me about them and told me I should give it a try and mentioned it wasn’t as popular as other horror games but it’s still great. He even gave me a deal to buy the 1st game and get the second one half off because I was a regular customer lol. I’ve probably played them both like 3 more more times, but it’s been years since so I might buy them again. It’s crazy to think I have a lot of good/fun memories with my little brother from a fucked up/ gory game like this lol. It’s definitely a bit corny now looking at it as an adult but that was the charm of those games at that time period. I still love them.
Absolutely loving your content. Watching you play through some of these older 'darker' games makes me want to suggest you do a playthrough of Darkwatch in a future video lol.
Oh for sure. Considering you just did The Suffering Sequel, and Red Dead Revolver most recently it's almost a little TOO fitting, it's got zombies, cowboys and Good/Bad guy powers depending on your choices. Definitely a wild ride@@EvanHelblingYT

So. There were 3 endings if I remember from the video I watched half awake this morning... a good, bad, and middle. The good ending being that you were framed for killing your family and the bad one where you get caught escaping and sent back to jail. The bad one was the cannon ending??? That's wild. O.o

Just randomly thought of this game and it lead me to this video. Thank you for this video and review of it.
Love the videos! I miss old PS2 games and Timesplitters is my Favorite game. Been bingeing your content!
Thankyou man!
Found this game through the demo on the Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks extra menu
i can't believe the wire forgot to include the arachnid eldritch abominations with MP5s that roam the streets of baltimore
Loved these games back in the day
Absolutely loving your content. Watching you play through some of these older 'darker' games makes me want to suggest you do a playthrough of Darkwatch in a future video lol.
Thankyou! Darkwatch sounds like somethin I gotta look into
Oh for sure. Considering you just did The Suffering Sequel, and Red Dead Revolver most recently it's almost a little TOO fitting, it's got zombies, cowboys and Good/Bad guy powers depending on your choices. Definitely a wild ride@@EvanHelblingYT
YEAH DUDE, NEW VID. :D
Yeahhh dude good to see ya
@@EvanHelblingYT Good to see you too! Great video my dude. :)
This was a great childhood
I remember me and my cousins struggling to press forward to play because it freaked us out so much
This series deserves a reboot.

So. There were 3 endings if I remember from the video I watched half awake this morning... a good, bad, and middle. The good ending being that you were framed for killing your family and the bad one where you get caught escaping and sent back to jail. The bad one was the cannon ending??? That's wild. O.o
