Is the Minooy Thea Crossbody bag the best travel bag in 2023?

- I confess! This is longer than 5 minutes but it is a thorough review of the Thea Crossbody bag from Minooy. Ugh....I think I forgot to mention the name of the bag in the video but you get it...such a great bag!!! I am not sponsored by them...I just like this bag...A LOT.

Wow. I was really surprised to hear that this was a new channel. You seem so comfortable in front of the camera, your descriptions and explanations were concise and clear. Even your editing was good. I think you’re going to do well here. Also, thank you for showing some thing new. I really like that bag, and have never seen anything quite like it. Minooy has quite a few other handbags that work for various needs when it comes to the "stuff" you want to have with you. I would also recommend the Athena if you have a little more or the Eirene if you have a little less. I like their Bali bag but I'm not a fan of the way cards are stored in this configuration...seems like they would be easy pickings for a good pick pocket as the cards are kept in an exterior, fold down pocket!

Some of their backpacks do but I'm not sure if their luggage does.

It is VERY functional and easy to use. Yes! All of their handbags have RFID blocking built in.

Love the bag! My only worry is that it is not anti theft like PAC Safe or Travelon. Would be helpful to hear your thoughts on anti theft bags.
Hi @addyskarunaratne6543 - I hear this a lot! Here are my thoughts on this. These bags are definitely secure and will likely stop most thieves. That said, the only people who carry bags like the ones you mention, are tourists. In my opinion, they make you stand out as someone who has something to steal. I personally prefer to do what I would do if visiting any city in my home country, which is use what I normally would use in my everyday life. If you go to Paris, London, Madrid, Rome...none of the locals are using security bags because they are cities like any other. Thieves and pickpockets tend to be where crowds of tourists are so it's fairly clear when and where you may be at risk. When in a place like that, you simply keep your hand on your bag and keep control of your bag. Thieves don't slash bags or cut them off of you - it's pickpockets that are the worry when it comes to bags and crowded places. If you keep your hand on the zippered part of the bag, keep it in front of you, and keep your valuables in that part of the bag, then you are fine. I spend every summer in crowded European cities, and have never had anyone be successful at picking my pocket or purse. It's when you are distracted and not paying attention to your bag when things happen.
No one who lives in Europe uses those kinds of bags. Because we are not in distracted tourist mode it's fine.
I appreciate what you’re saying however please bear in mind that thieves DO slash bags. I have a friend who had it happen to her in Europe - they slashed the bottom of her bag and she never knew it was happening.
@@5MinuteTravel what you say is true and the reason I'm on the internet researching Minooy bags. I've always traveled with my Travelon crossbow purses but they are definitely an eyesore and do point me out as a tourist.

It should! The bag measures 8" x 6" so it should be good.
A small coin purse is what I keep my loose change in. I like how long the strap is! It looks like it can be made quite a bit longer, so it should work for heavier or taller women, too. We all want it to ride closer to our hip, not our breast!
For sure! It's very adjustable and can really work for any height it seems.
I appreciate this. I’ve been wondering about just carrying a very functional leather bag as opposed to buying one of the RF ID nylon travel bags. Do you supplement this bag with a sling or backpack? The weather is changeable when one travels and I need to be able to remove a jacket and store it somewhere while out walking. Thanks.
Depending on the trip, sometimes I do bring another bag. I'm thinking of combining this one with the Biaggi Lift Off bag, another expandable bag they carry that has a metal handle.
@@5MinuteTravel Thank you. What I meant is a bag or sling you can carry around with you for long days of walking where you need to add and remove layers and can’t go back to your hotel.

Also Minooy has got many spacious bags. The crossbody bags are my favorite because you don’t have to bring a wallet and you can attach the keys onto it as well. The Thea is my second favorite bag but the Naya is my most favorite. I don’t have any of them but the Naya is what I prefer to have for so many reasons. What I like the most about Thea and Naya are the pockets designed for glasses and to keep em safe
I am with you 100% on the Thea and the Naya - they are both so perfectly designed! I believe my old bag was a BOHO brand? I bought it out of the Sundance catalog many, many years ago but they don't make it anymore. Believe me, I looked! :)

I don't believe it has RFID protection. In the next month or so I plan to make a video about a luggage brand I use and love! Stay tuned. I also have some other tips I'll share about packing and dressing for Europe! EDIT!!!! This bag does have RFID protection so you can carry it without that worry,.
Question, do you prefer the Minooy Thea or Minooy Athena for a three week trip to Spain to Portugal? I am torn between which of them to order.
Hi! Sorry it took so long to reply. I've been traveling, holidays, etc. For a 3-week trip, the Athena is a little larger and holds more. The advantage to the Thea is the double-sided card holder panel AND the two slots specifically designed for sunglasses.
Do you sight see with a battery backup pack? I find I need an extra battery because I use maps, check times and listen to music. Would this purse accommodate a battery and cord? I think I will just take my collapsable cup to Paris. Do you know if water is readily available in Paris? In some cities, there are public water fountains.
Yes! I think it would accommodate that. There are VERY thin battery packs now that are quite thin and not that heavy. This summer I'm going to test drive one from TG90 that was recommended by a friend. It has very short cords that tuck into the side of the pack so it is less bulky and your phone can easily recharge while it's in your bag.
To your second question, yes! Paris prides itself on the quality of their municipal water and making it available to everyone. This is the link to the website that shows you where they all are. Where do they ship the purses from, directly from China? I thought I read somewhere that they had a warehouse here in the U.S. If so, I would expect that they would ship their products from here to addresses in the U.S.

It's 1.37 pounds / .6 kilos. It's quite lightweight for a quality leather bag!

Yes! It does come from China and that was one of my hesitations when I bought it. It took less than two weeks from the time I hit the "purchase" button. Quite fast!
You might get your purse relined so you can continue to use it.
I definitely could do that! The outside isn't so nice though...I think it's done it's duty. :)

They are definitely not bargain basement. I find that when I pay for quality, things last. My bag that this one is replacing lasted over 30 years! At the time I thought I was spending way too much too - not really!
