Start of the episode: Echidna: "I'll let you do the challenge." (not word for word but pretty much that.) Luke: "Oh, okay..." End of the episode: Subaru: gets accepted by the challenge. Luke: "WTF Does that mean? How is he accepted?" Me: Really now? you just reacted to it like it was something you'd remember. 😅 I don't think it was necessarily the tea, but we'll see.
So you like Echidna and you're willing to jump through the screen and throw hands to defend Patrasche? Congrats, Luke, you're officially a full-blown anime fan! 🥳
I do like Echidna, but I can't stand Elsa. Typhon is the witch that is too disturbing for me, especially since she reminds me of Chuutatsu from Twelve Kingdoms.
@quicklearner5g If he doesn't get filtered by Arc 2. He can't watch kizu first either like a certain reactor that didn't listen and then dropped it because they watched kizu first.
Echidna told Subaru she is granting him permission to take the trial. She then erased his memory of the conversation. Thus Subaru forgot he could take the trial.
Is it weird how I wouldn't really mind if Luke kept calling Patrasche a "Parachute" the rest of the season? I get that sometimes names can be difficult to pronounce (likely even more so for someone like me who isn't native English speaker) but I think Luke sometimes overcomplicates it a little bit.
"Patreesh" I have to admit I am curious for how long it will take our Pon Luke until he remembers japanese pronounces every letter in a word 😂 Pah Trah Sheh
33:14 boy you have NO idea how many double or even triple meanings there are, not just in the titles. there's so many parallels and themes throughout season 2 it was incredible 34:55 he was accepted cause the witch gave him permission. you can see that here 11:05
I just wanted to point out something you maybe dont know. Emilia actually never has seen how she looks like all of her life because she is scared of doing it. Everyone keeps telling her that she is this horrible creature and filthy, shown in Memory Snow or all throughout the series and what not so she is too scared to check. It will be good to know later on in an episode where it is very confusing what the author actually means cause of cut content. You will know what I mean when you are at that point.
It's crazy that this isn't mentioned at all in the anime. I had no idea until I read this comment and this adds so much more to the scene you're talking about. That seems like a very character defining thing to omit
About the Tea and Witch Factors: Every Witch and Sin Archbishop gained the title of their respective sin by holding a Witch Factor. Further, the Witch Factor also grants them a special power, called Authority. In Petelgeuse case (Archbishop of Sloth) that Authority was the unseen hand. After Subaru killed him, the Witch Factor chose him as its next dwelling (as was explained in the episode). A Witch Factor is a pretty dangerous thing, so Echidna's tea stabilized and activated it. Also, she explained during their meeting, that she will give him the right to challenge the Trial, so it wasn't really the tea that did that.
yeah once i watched that scene in this video i was confused, must be a different sub with weird translation. the way she used "Witch Factor" in the sentence implied she used a random sloth witch factor to make a tea, when what shes really saying is the tea helped the sloth witch factor inside subaru adapt rapidly
@@basant2159 the actual connection between the witch cult and the witches is still very vague, but its implied that maybe at some point the witch cult were just vessels for the witches, but somehow turned into this mess. But no, none of them other than Petelgeuse is obsessed with satella. actually, some have even expressed hate towards satella before. they all have their own goals and personalities
Important there are after-credits scenes in episodes 7 and 9 this season be on the lookout for them 7:25 “The other witches are cool. And not sus” eh.maaaaybe, maaaybe not so much 8:10- He killed the archbishop of Sloth Petelguese Romani Conti 15:55 weird misunderstanding of what was said there, Luke. Subaru wasn’t saying he had mixed feelings about Garfiel, he was saying he had mixed feelings as a guy about “Emilia defending him” which to be fair is kinda bad considering she’s a pretty strong magic caster and has objectively more offensive power than he does atm 17:55 Otto did not fall asleep he’s a normal human, he did get beat up by Garfiel though. Mixed blood would be human+elf, Human+ beast person, Human+ Oni/”Demon” etc. 34:55-the witch of greed said she was giving him “the right/qualification to take the trial of the sanctuary” earlier this episode at 11:05, but Subaru himself doesn’t remember that right now
That 15:55 was a really weird misunderstanding. It took me a moment or two before I even realized that Luke misunderstood what was said because to me it was clear as day.
15:55 Pretty incredible that Subaru watched (in a timeline erased) his love interest 1v1 Beltegeuse and still can’t accept that she is way above him in term of strength
@@theod4660That's not the reason he's flustered. Subaru thinks it's a man's responsibility to defend a woman so the role reversal makes him feel inadequate and embarrassed that he's the one who needs to be protected by the girl he likes.
These episodes of the beginning of this season are great to set up the chess pieces and next episode is my favorite episode for Subaru as a character and Re:Zero in general it’ll give some more context to his speech in episode 18 2:18 Based Subaru I would’ve drank it too 7:27 Purgatory is a very fitting description of the windows xp background. It triggers something in me 8:15 He didn’t kill another witch but a sin archbishop who possessed a “witch factor” Betty talked about it in the last episode as well. And since Betelgeuse died, kind of like when making a Horkrux it attached himself to Subaru and chose him as its new host 9:55 Non spoiler light novel cut content: He actually did ask about how to help Rem and about the witches cult but since Echidana got sealed 400 years ago she’s unaware of their existence or what’s happening outside. Also she’s emanating a dreadful evil aura that’s why people usually puke in front of her and as you said earlier she’s a witch so you don’t know if the information she’d give you would be the truth, a lie or something to benefit some sort of scheme of hers. Also we don’t know how time works and if something is happening to Emilia rn since what happened to Rem Subaru is scared other things will be permanent and he can’t reset far enough 13:00 You mean best girl Patrasche? 16:04 He said “as a guy I have mixed feelings about this” because Emilia jumped in front of him to protect him but as a guy Subaru thinks it’s supposed to be the other way around 18:17 Otto didn’t fell asleep he got beat up by Garfiel 32:51 Remember Echidana granted him permission to do the trial at the tea party it’s her trial so she can decide who’s granted permission and who isn’t The figurines in Subarus room are curious 👀 Also yes the Titles are very sneaky Tappei keeps cooking
notice that all the figurines in Subaru's room have white/silver hair.....it hints that Subaru has a thing towards silver haired girls.....that's why maybe he instantly fell in love with Emilia as she has silver hair:)
Just in case people in the last episode didn't clear it up and future episodes you've reacted to also haven't made it 100% clear, the term "The Witch" is calloqueally ASSUMED to mean the Witch of Envy in modern Lugunica, but there is in fact more than one Witch, with each witch being called "The Witch of -----" The reason people in modern times associate the term with 1 entity instead of multiple is because the Witch of Envy, Satella, killed the other Witches 400 years ago, not because there is actually only one Witch to have ever existed Edit: I should've waited 20 seconds
"Is Subaru an idiot or the king of rizz?" Both, the answer is both. The subtitles can be a bit confusing during the tea party, so it helps to reread that section a few times to make sure you get it all. The other witches that Echidna mentioned do sound pretty cool, I agree. "Has Subaru make a vow with Satella without even knowing it?" An interesting idea. Now you're thinking like a theorist lol. Otto was not affected by the barrier, Garfiel just knocked him out instantly. It is always a safe bet to assume Roswaal knows more than he is letting on. I also love Subaru and Ram's banter, she's a great character. Echidna gave Subaru permission to undergo the trials at the end of their meeting, but the tea being blood was an interesting guess. The tea party space is a dream world, so everything in it is technically a part of Echidna's soul. So when she calls the tea her bodily fluids, she only does so to get a reaction out of people. I'm very much looking forward to next episode, easily one of the best episodes in the series!
Ah Echidna. Bad enough to hate, but *bad* enough not to care. Also, prepare for one of the most heartfelt episodes next episode. Parent and Child is up there as one of the best episodes in the show.
35:05 when subaru was leaving the tea party echidna said she would give him the right to participate in the trial (in other words she made a exception for him to do it despite not being mixed blood) the tea has nothing to do with it
Actually, subaru thought about his past, but only in the light novel. So the moment he got transported, his first thought was... that he would never see his parents again.
"I wish Subaru would learn to use his magic" you're forgetting the entire reason Emilia wanted to drive him away in the first season was that he wore down his gate organ using shamac the few times in arc 2/3. She had to make an entire contract involving mining rights in Elior forest with a rival royal selection camp in order for Ferris to heal him, and he didn't finish it because of arc 3 events!!! His body is actually debilitated because his gate is breaking down, it regulates mana and affects health, if he casts shamac more it'll break. Some important details to the issues with magic which weren't explained well in season 1 are that Subaru never used shamac in a good way. Puck said his gate exploded and released all his mana at once since he wasn't used to using it, and he got around that using the bocco fruits which speed up mana absorption afterwards, but Emilia got angry with him for using them later on at least in the novels because they are harmful to his gate. So when he used them after shamac so he wouldn't collapse from exhaustion in arc 2, his gate started breaking. He's never done magic in a healthy way and doesn't have a gate suited to it anyway, it barely absorbs any mana generally.
BTW Subaru does ask questions to echidna....like about how to fix rem and about sin archbishops but she seemingly didn't know about present time events......So she seemed utlra sus...so he backed out to be safe if shes allowing for him to go back. Also yeah subaru is at her mercy in her domain...so he has to go along with her.
To clarify: Echidna specifically tells Subaru earlier in the episode that the gift she was going to give him was admission to the trials and that he would understand its worth when he finds it. I will say its been great watching you go through this anime as your both super perceptive at times and yet still occasionally have some wild and goofy interpretations/theories of events lol.
there is something called the witch's factor, each factor embodies the power and authority of one of the 7 deadly sins, in the past the witches that echidna spoke of absorbed these factors and after they die the factor leaves the body and another person can absorb it, in this case who absorbs are mostly archbishops of the witch cult, subaru killed petelgeuse last season and absorbed his factor (which is the sloth factor), the echidna used her tea to activate this fact and strengthen subaru as she herself said. Oh and there is an interesting thing, there are blessings in this world that are granted to some people, if a person absorbs a factor they can no longer have a blessing and that is a rule.
15:32 Subaru "Is there some kind of translation error?" 20 sec later 15:52 Subaru "But as a guy, I have mixed feelings about this" 15:56 Luke "But this is a guy I have mixed feelings about" I guess there was a translation error lol
Mixed feelings about the fact that he is a guy but Emilia stood up in front of him to protect him from Garfiel instead of it being the other way around... HE was Happy about her doing that but Felt bad that he wanted to be the one to do that...
I am so excited for the next episode. Episode 4 is one of my favorite of the series. It’s the one that truly hooked me for season 2. And sets the tone for how good the rest of the season was.
It's hard to say how "Strong" a witch is. It kinda doesn't apply like that. Their powers are esoteric by nature, so it's less about strength and more about understanding the logic of their powers by understanding how their powers have influenced their personality. This is true for the Archbishops as well, because their powers possibly come from the same place, or operate with the same mechanics. Once you understand how the power works and found the loophole, you've basically defeated them. Also, if you were paying attention to that movie you watched not long ago, you'd be clear on if Emilia is a Witch or not. Witches kinda happen by accident in this world, as far as we know, and Emilia has the potential to BECOME one. The emotional support she's gotten from people like Puck and Subaru are preventing that. This, of course, implies that none of the Witches are "inherently" evil or have chosen to be evil, more like a natural disaster in the form of a person.
There's a very nifty chapter in the Sidestory "Witch's After Tea Party" called "Requirements to be a Witch" It's very interesting tho I do not recommend anyone to read it before finishing Season 2 and especially knowing about the cut final scene.
There is a power chart between the Witches though, with Sekhmet the witch of Sloth being said as the strongest number two after Satella who fought with the Divine Dragon before.
ah Garfiel, voiced by one of my favorite JP VA's, Nobuhiko Okamoto. He has such a perfect voice for those twisted characters that just like to yell for no reason sometimes.
8:15 the sloth witchfactor holder was betelguese (current generation of holders is the sin archbishops) so when he killed the archbishop of sloth he obtained the witch factor of sloth the witch of envy still has her witchfactor so there is no archbishop of envy
7:00 so for this lines context each of the 7 witches could emit enough miamasa to kill or drive people insane on their own if u simply stand naerby them if you dont have a tolerance (subaru has some tolerance to miamasa) thats why people puke at the sight of echidna
The whitch of greed gave subaru special permission to take the trials and if you are not eligable like Rosswald all the magic in your body is ressled from four control and turns against you.
34:15 Subaru kinda hinted in episode 18 of season 1 about his life before he transferred into this world. And even if he missed home, the series of events he faced is ALWAYS serious and requires solving ideally and as fast as possible. For example, Betelgeuse attacks the village after 3-4 days after the checkpoint. My point is: Subaru is ALWAYS busy that he can't afford to think freely about his own world
Patrasche is pronounced like "Pat-rash". The next episode would be so good and it's times like these I wish you were watching two episodes at once lol. It concerns Subaru's life in his world and his family and knowing how much you talk about your family, I'm kinda excited to see your thoughts on it. The witch's descriptions can make you think twice about what kind of people they are but as other say "good doesn't always mean nice".
So Subaru drank her body fluids I think he really should reflect on his actions and slow down before just drinking anything especially given to him by a Witch! 😂 Echidna is a very interesting character and I won't say I like in terms of "Waifu", but in terms of just as a written character I find her most interesting. Really enjoying your reactions to this and so excited as you watch this season! This season is just awesome!
Now it is time for the very very important poll question: "Which Echidna body fluid was added to the tea?" 1. Blood 2. Sweat 3. Tears 4. Saliva 5. Urine 6. Bile 7. "Love Nectar" 🤔 If you know, You know.
10:50 That is VERY possible. Anime watchers don't know about this because it's kinda hard to imply in the animation, and don't worry, this isn't a spoiler, but every time Subaru has died, he goes somewhere before returning by death. The Witch of Envy's tea party, or so we assume. And he always forgets about it, which is why we've never actually seen their meetings even in the books, we just know they happen.
Add to that the fact that sometimes, upon respawning, instead of just being yoinked back in time he has to literally piece himself back together from nothingness in a place he calls "a garden of shadows", all while his thoughts point strongly to having a VERY intense longing for The Witch. Dunno why the anime never bothered to show those times as they are very intriguing
3:35 Yes funny why did he not? Here (12:18) and here (23:09) you can see the consequences, or rather side effect, of the Vow. That Subaru is not allowed to talk to others about what transpired at the tea party. Just forget everything. Just a faint feeling of dejavu. In the LN it was more called a pact if I remember correctly. The fact that the anime talks about a vow makes more sense here. Because of the cut content. In Season 1, the terms promises/contracts/vows were bring up again and again in some episodes. Could be important in the world of ReZero. Here you can see what it means. As a reminder in one loop in Season 1. Subaru made a verbal contract with Beatrice that she would protect him. Even made her defend Subaru against Roswaal. Against "the strongest Magic User of the Kingdom" 🙃 Only Anime Watchers wonder why Subaru doesn't ask the witch anything. Yes, unfortunately cut content. Subaru had a pretty long conversation with her in the LN and found out some important things. Among other things, what Echidna knows about the archbishops and the witch cult. I'll just say the answer is really surprising. Make the condensed information from Echidna about the witches are really important to remember. There is actually a good TH-cam video that describes the cut content for this episode. But I decided against putting a link here because it would contain a few spoilers for future episodes. I would also rather encourage people to read the LN. Remember, the higher the sales, the more seasons there will be in the future.
When I watched this episode, it never occurred to me that when Subaru was sent from Earth to this world, he encountered the Witch of Envy Satella and made a vow with her that came at the cost of not being able to remember said vow. I'm so glad I'm watching your reaction to this series.
In a QnA, Tappei was asked what exactly the "bodily fluid" was. I forget the exact answer was, but it was something along the lines of what you get if you drenched Echidna in water and then wrung her out like a towel. Basically, it's gamer girl bath water.
You should probably watch Rezero Break Time Season 2, while season 1 gave extra character interactions and worldbuilding, season 2 on the other hand has episodes that answer some questions you might have during the main story.
I hope everyone else keeps to smiling and waving at all your theorizing and comments - its amazing how much you notice but also how much you get wrong sometimes. Good to see that you got there by the end with the Witch of Greed/Envy/Echidna confusion and the "Echidna Tea" letting Subaru do the trial. And realizing you're a bit of a degenerate is definitely a rite of passage haha, nothing wrong with liking Echidna or the bowel hunter
"How did Subaru get accepted?" Blanks on the opening discussion with Echidna when she gave him permission to take the trials. Also I really like Echidna as a character as well as the other witches and I think you will too.
11:57 Luke, I and a lot of people fell madly in love with Echidna, so you can too! Don't worry, she'll appear more, and you'll like her a lot, I think lol Watch this season's OP and ED, it's worth it. They will appear very little, as they used their time to extend the episodes, I don't know if you noticed! We love it, and not to mention that the episodes are about 8 minutes longer than normal, that is, every 3 episodes, we have 1 extra episode! I hope it continues like this in season 3! Reinforcing, this season's OP and ED are incredible, and please review.
Echidna gave him permission to enter the trial before Subaru returned. Also to clarify the Witch Factor a bit more for you since its a vital part for the whole Witch thing and there were some connections you missed. A Witch Factor is basically what gives one its authority (or your power). So for example the Witch Factor of Sloth is what gave Betelgeuse the "Authority of Sloth: Unseen Hands". Those unseen shadow hands is what ability he got from possessing his Witch Factor. There is only ONE Witch Factor for each "sin" basically. The Witch of Sloth Sekhmet had the Sloth factor to begin with. We learned in this episode that she (and the other witches) are dead. At some point the Sloth Witch Factor chose Betelgeuse as its new "master" and he became able to use it. What now is called in Archbishop is basically the same thing as a Witch 400years ago. It is the person currently holding the Witches Factor of whatever Sin. This is exactly why Beatrice was so surprided a while ago when she asked what happened to the Sloth Witches Factor and why Subaru would ever kill Sloth if not to get his Witches Factor. Now Echidna actually confirmed that the Sloth Witch Factor chose Subaru as its new "host" (whatever that is supposed to mean) So the person currently holding the Witch Factor of Sloth is Subaru. Also notice right at the end when Subaru entered the Trial and got knocked out a voice said: First you need to face your own past. And then Subaru suddenly woke up at his previous Life. So the Trial obviously has something to do with Subarus past, which after seeing the ending clearly has something to do with his "past" Life. If we assume that the Trials have the same challange for each challanger then Emilia would have to deal with something in her past aswell (which we havent seen anything of besides the Frozen Bond OVA). I highly doubt that Emilia would need to face Subarus past and suddenly wake up in his bed if the challange topic would be "facing the past" :D Also a little side note to Otto. He is not half blooded, he didnt pass out because of the Barrier. He passed out because he got knocked out by Garfiel :D :D Thats why Garfiel had to apologise to him towards the end of the episode.
Remember the witches gift to Subaru was allowing an exception and giving him the qualification to enter the test. Just because he doesn't remember doesn't mean you can't remember Luke lol.
OTTO DIDNT KILL SUBARU 😭😭 he heard the whale's screams which made him insane.... as we saw with the army, people were going mad, and it was especially worst for otto since he has the divine blessing which lets him communicate with other beings.... he could literally hear the whale saying "" give him to me "" so he was forced into pushing subaru off the carriage..... plus subaru didnt even die he went to the village , puck killed him later on lol
... What scream? The one shown in ep 20 made the people try to scratch their faces off and it was a pretty prolonged roar too. Nothing like that ever happens in the end of ep 16 or in ep 17.
@@daimahou3951 Otto has a divine blessing that lets him communicate with animals in his mind but at a cost of terrible headache and nosebleed. (if u have seen s2, you would know). In the white whale ep, the whale was probably screaming in his head-"Give him to me"(which wasn't shown in anime), which made him insane so he pushed Subaru. But later he tried to come back and get him but the witch cultists killed him(notice the daggers on the carriage and blood), so that's when you see the carriage returning back to Subaru. Hope this helps:)
@@debosmandasgupta3940 In the first comment you say it was the Whale's scream, next it's "probably" simply communicating his displeasure to Otto? Or was that in the LN (because then you should simply just preface your comment with "In the LN")? And yes, I puzzled out he likely sent Furo(?) back once the cultists attacked him.
33:35 Actually, Luke, isekai stories have very often been infamous for featuring overpowered main characters. We've just been recommending to you the good ones that subvert that trope. Or Eminence in Shadow, that turns it up to such a ridiculous degree that it becomes kind of an ironic use of the trope. No Game No Life is more like a traditional use of the trope, in that sense.
Its kind of amazing how often Luke reads the subtitles wrong, and comes up with theories based on that. You're just going to be confused in the future my guy.
20:45 to be fair reinhard is also a super strong guy u only ever see like 5 times in the anime (and he only really fights in one of those) its hard to keep super strong guys in as allies when the main character cant compare to them at all while being a interesting story (some exceptions exist i will admit this but generally)
12:52 you looked confused so ill explain garfiel uses a lot of proverbs based on that worlds historical events (so it doesnt make sense to the readers like at all) so you might hear a name repeeated later or something but thats about it
no the tea just stabilized subaru in that realm of the dead, as she calls it. she just granted him the permission to face the trials later in their conversation, she mentioned it. after all, echidna is in charge, she can bend whatever rule she wants. also the tea was said to be made of echidna's tears i saw that in a QnA but not too sure about it , but it isnt blood or .... other sus stuff ya hear?
At 15:50 when Subaru said "As a guy, I have mixed feelings about this" He was talking about how it damaged his manly pride for the girl he likes to be the one defending him. However he has mixed feelings because he is happy that she cares that much.
18:13 mixed blood is affected by the barrier so pure demi humans (of their respcetive race) can be fine, pure humans can be fine etc (remeber demi human doesnt mean half human in this case it means humanoid) so if u have a demihuman parent and ur other parent is human ur affected for a example
Echidna clearly said she allowing Subaru to take the trial of Sanctuary. ps: the tea doesn't have anything to do with it. That bodily fluid tea purpose will reveal on later episode.
As @SmthPositive has already said, obviously during this reaction you didn't see our comments yet but to further clarify, Echidna was talking about Subaru killing Petelgeuse (pronounce juice not geese 😉) that's how he got the Sloth Witch Factor inside him now. The implication obviously being that only 1 Authority of each Sin exists at a time and will pass on when the previous holder dies. Beatrice even talked about this in EP 2 aswell, wondering why Subaru would kill Sloth if the Witch Factor wasn't his reason for doing so.
little misunderstanding, though a funny one that you made, he wasnt saying he had mixed feelings about garfiel, it was mixed feelings about emiliya protecting him, he loved hearing the reason, but everything he has been doing, dying, resetting, etc, has all been to protect her (not saying its a healthy mentality, just what was meant in the dialogue)
that IS Ram being warm to Subaru, look at how she speaks to Emilia and then look at how she speaks to Subaru, who she is willing to laugh with and say things that are honest with. Ram is a person who has 2 modes, one where she's very standoffish and professional and the other where she busts your balls for being an idiot, Ram is the single best Bro in the whole series as she doesn't bs people.
11:50 Oh, don't worry. Echidna just does that to people, it's perfectly normal. I've seen people instantly simp over her so badly they proclaim her best girl after knowing her for a single episode. She's got the crazy/hot scale JUST right to hit that sweet spot.
Although he has no fights that demonstrate why he is the strongest magic caster in kingdom. The fight you're refering to is just small exchange with nearly mana-empty exhausted Roswaal, who still kept rabbits-attracting spell (that took nearly all mana he has) even during that fight. The only normal fight with Roswaal was mentioned in 1st ova, but not seen properly.
When Subaru was about to leave, Echidna said that she's going to allow Subaru to attempt the trial of the Sanctuary. It has nothing to with the tea lol What the tea did is help the Sloth witch factor that was in Betelguese, assimilate with Subaru better (Atleast that's what i think, if I'm wrong, someone tell me). As Beatrice and Echidna said, it moved to Subaru after he killed Betelguese Can't wait for my favorite Rezero episode next time! S2 ep 4 is probably my most favorite episode in just anime in general. I loved it, I'm sure you'll do too Luke! Get some tissues ready tho...

Welcome to Arc 4 The Everlasting Contract
Best WingWoman Shows Up Echidna
Cut content Echidna physically is Really Weak she can barely lift those chairs they sit on
The op and Ed for this season is SO DAMN GOOD
Start of the episode:
Echidna: "I'll let you do the challenge." (not word for word but pretty much that.)
Luke: "Oh, okay..."
End of the episode:
Subaru: gets accepted by the challenge.
Luke: "WTF Does that mean? How is he accepted?"
Me: Really now? you just reacted to it like it was something you'd remember. 😅
I don't think it was necessarily the tea, but we'll see.
So you like Echidna and you're willing to jump through the screen and throw hands to defend Patrasche? Congrats, Luke, you're officially a full-blown anime fan! 🥳
Indeed he is
is it time for him to know the wonders of Esdeath? might end up likin her too
i personally, cant find it in me to like echidna. but patrache is definitely a best girl
Echidna erased Luke's memories along with Subaru's
Damn >
@@Being_alive_lolthe craziest 4th wall break
Ah okay!!
And yup, she must have erased mine too. A sympathy memory erase.
Luke trying to pronunce Patrasche is gonna be like Shinigami all over again
Is it weird how I wouldn't really mind if Luke kept calling Patrasche a "Parachute" the rest of the season?
I get that sometimes names can be difficult to pronounce (likely even more so for someone like me who isn't native English speaker) but I think Luke sometimes overcomplicates it a little bit.
"Patreesh"
I have to admit I am curious for how long it will take our Pon Luke until he remembers japanese pronounces every letter in a word 😂

Imagine he gives up and just calls it "Patrick"
Actually reverse parachute is her title.

Oooooh okay! I didn't know that at all! 🤯
@@Elzzaw Spoiler Alert for that Episode!!!!

Yeah in the second trial it was all about Emilia facing reality and thus she had to face "herself"
@@GOTGamesthere's a lot of stuff coming up that we're going to be explaining in the comments because of the cut content.
I want to ask why Reguleus and gluttony archbishop said they are from witch cult ? Are they all obsessed with Satella and have Bible ?
@@basant2159 the actual connection between the witch cult and the witches is still very vague, but its implied that maybe at some point the witch cult were just vessels for the witches, but somehow turned into this mess. But no, none of them other than Petelgeuse is obsessed with satella. actually, some have even expressed hate towards satella before. they all have their own goals and personalities

7:25 “The other witches are cool. And not sus” eh.maaaaybe, maaaybe not so much
8:10- He killed the archbishop of Sloth Petelguese Romani Conti
15:55 weird misunderstanding of what was said there, Luke. Subaru wasn’t saying he had mixed feelings about Garfiel, he was saying he had mixed feelings as a guy about “Emilia defending him” which to be fair is kinda bad considering she’s a pretty strong magic caster and has objectively more offensive power than he does atm
17:55 Otto did not fall asleep he’s a normal human, he did get beat up by Garfiel though.
@@theod4660 yeah the underuse of Emilia in combat is my single biggest complaint from arcs 2-4
@@theod4660That's not the reason he's flustered. Subaru thinks it's a man's responsibility to defend a woman so the role reversal makes him feel inadequate and embarrassed that he's the one who needs to be protected by the girl he likes.

These episodes of the beginning of this season are great to set up the chess pieces and next episode is my favorite episode for Subaru as a character and Re:Zero in general it’ll give some more context to his speech in episode 18
2:18 Based Subaru I would’ve drank it too
7:27 Purgatory is a very fitting description of the windows xp background. It triggers something in me
8:15 He didn’t kill another witch but a sin archbishop who possessed a “witch factor” Betty talked about it in the last episode as well. And since Betelgeuse died, kind of like when making a Horkrux it attached himself to Subaru and chose him as its new host
9:55 Non spoiler light novel cut content: He actually did ask about how to help Rem and about the witches cult but since Echidana got sealed 400 years ago she’s unaware of their existence or what’s happening outside. Also she’s emanating a dreadful evil aura that’s why people usually puke in front of her and as you said earlier she’s a witch so you don’t know if the information she’d give you would be the truth, a lie or something to benefit some sort of scheme of hers. Also we don’t know how time works and if something is happening to Emilia rn since what happened to Rem Subaru is scared other things will be permanent and he can’t reset far enough
13:00 You mean best girl Patrasche?
16:04 He said “as a guy I have mixed feelings about this” because Emilia jumped in front of him to protect him but as a guy Subaru thinks it’s supposed to be the other way around
18:17 Otto didn’t fell asleep he got beat up by Garfiel
32:51 Remember Echidana granted him permission to do the trial at the tea party it’s her trial so she can decide who’s granted permission and who isn’t

@@ryuko4478The episode titles are based on the light/web novel chapters
Just in case people in the last episode didn't clear it up and future episodes you've reacted to also haven't made it 100% clear, the term "The Witch" is calloqueally ASSUMED to mean the Witch of Envy in modern Lugunica, but there is in fact more than one Witch, with each witch being called "The Witch of -----"
The reason people in modern times associate the term with 1 entity instead of multiple is because the Witch of Envy, Satella, killed the other Witches 400 years ago, not because there is actually only one Witch to have ever existed
Edit: I should've waited 20 seconds
Basically Envy is the big bad that everybody fears.
When I hear Echidna say, “bodily fluids” the last thing I am thinking of is blood.
@@irtehsuk lol true. A lot of people are down bad for some Dona Tea

11:49 "Is it weird that I like her?"
ONE OF US!! ONE OF US!!
Officially Rosswald tried despite the risk to fulfill his responsibility as lord and help his people.
15:32 Subaru "Is there some kind of translation error?" 20 sec later
15:52 Subaru "But as a guy, I have mixed feelings about this"
15:56 Luke "But this is a guy I have mixed feelings about"
I guess there was a translation error lol
Mixed feelings about the fact that he is a guy but Emilia stood up in front of him to protect him from Garfiel instead of it being the other way around... HE was Happy about her doing that but Felt bad that he wanted to be the one to do that...

That is the trial
I am so excited for the next episode. Episode 4 is one of my favorite of the series. It’s the one that truly hooked me for season 2. And sets the tone for how good the rest of the season was.
4:53 "ah, so she's cool"
uh...actually...😅
There's a very nifty chapter in the Sidestory "Witch's After Tea Party" called "Requirements to be a Witch"
It's very interesting tho I do not recommend anyone to read it before finishing Season 2 and especially knowing about the cut final scene.
There is a power chart between the Witches though, with Sekhmet the witch of Sloth being said as the strongest number two after Satella who fought with the Divine Dragon before.
So why no new witch appeared in the last 400 years ?!

What about Pandora ?

35:25 you gotta rewind after sniffing man you've been missing these because of it. Tho as an allergic person myself i get it, bless you Luke
8:15 the sloth witchfactor holder was betelguese (current generation of holders is the sin archbishops) so when he killed the archbishop of sloth he obtained the witch factor of sloth the witch of envy still has her witchfactor so there is no archbishop of envy
Just a minor thing, Otto didn't fall asleep cause of the barrier. He got knocked tf out by Garfiel
Echidna : "welcome to Windows XP. "
Let's be fair to her... she got killed 400 years ago... she didn't get any updates...
Best girl Echidna is here!
And next ep is one of the most heartbreaking truths in isekai genre that they don't often dare to touch. But rezero did.
My point is: Subaru is ALWAYS busy that he can't afford to think freely about his own world
Luke cooked with the theories in this episode.
Get ready for PEAK next episode
without a shadow of a doubt, the best episode of season 2 part 1
👀
Patrasche is pronounced like "Pat-rash". The next episode would be so good and it's times like these I wish you were watching two episodes at once lol. It concerns Subaru's life in his world and his family and knowing how much you talk about your family, I'm kinda excited to see your thoughts on it.
The witch's descriptions can make you think twice about what kind of people they are but as other say "good doesn't always mean nice".
Before parting, Echidna told Subaru that she will give him a souvenir, the right to face the trial of sanctuary and is not weird that you like her😅
So Subaru drank her body fluids I think he really should reflect on his actions and slow down before just drinking anything especially given to him by a Witch! 😂 Echidna is a very interesting character and I won't say I like in terms of "Waifu", but in terms of just as a written character I find her most interesting. Really enjoying your reactions to this and so excited as you watch this season! This season is just awesome!
Now it is time for the very very important poll question:
"Which Echidna body fluid was added to the tea?"
1. Blood
2. Sweat
3. Tears
4. Saliva
5. Urine
6. Bile
7. "Love Nectar"
🤔
If you know, You know.
10:50
That is VERY possible.
Against "the strongest Magic User of the Kingdom" 🙃
Only Anime Watchers wonder why Subaru doesn't ask the witch anything.
Man, I am so excited for the next episode, one of the best in the series
When I watched this episode, it never occurred to me that when Subaru was sent from Earth to this world, he encountered the Witch of Envy Satella and made a vow with her that came at the cost of not being able to remember said vow. I'm so glad I'm watching your reaction to this series.
The next episode is one of the best in all of anime.
The next episode broke me, I can relate to it in ways I've never told anyone so I actually cried. I'm excited to see how you'll react to it
I still get shivers hearing the ending. Alot of things to despair coming right up
In a QnA, Tappei was asked what exactly the "bodily fluid" was. I forget the exact answer was, but it was something along the lines of what you get if you drenched Echidna in water and then wrung her out like a towel. Basically, it's gamer girl bath water.
Ive never wanted to be hydrated more than right now

You should probably watch Rezero Break Time Season 2, while season 1 gave extra character interactions and worldbuilding, season 2 on the other hand has episodes that answer some questions you might have during the main story.
I hope everyone else keeps to smiling and waving at all your theorizing and comments - its amazing how much you notice but also how much you get wrong sometimes. Good to see that you got there by the end with the Witch of Greed/Envy/Echidna confusion and the "Echidna Tea" letting Subaru do the trial.
And realizing you're a bit of a degenerate is definitely a rite of passage haha, nothing wrong with liking Echidna or the bowel hunter
it isn't the tea that lets Subaru do the trial though. Echidna just just straight up gave him the ability to take it
"How did Subaru get accepted?" Blanks on the opening discussion with Echidna when she gave him permission to take the trials. Also I really like Echidna as a character as well as the other witches and I think you will too.
The bishops of the sins including sloth have the attributes of each sin, but they all follow the Witch of Envy
You talking about Roswaal like that made me laugh. I mean, yeah, he is always conveniently missing and shows up at random times. I wonder why lmao
Patrasche is the name of the Dog in the story of the Dog of Flanders... which is a classic title for japanese people...
11:57 Luke, I and a lot of people fell madly in love with Echidna, so you can too! Don't worry, she'll appear more, and you'll like her a lot, I think lol
Watch this season's OP and ED, it's worth it.
Also notice right at the end when Subaru entered the Trial and got knocked out a voice said:
First you need to face your own past.
I highly doubt that Emilia would need to face Subarus past and suddenly wake up in his bed if the challange topic would be "facing the past" :D
Also a little side note to Otto.
Otto DIDN'T fall asleep when she crossed the barrier
The best part is starting now. Also, Roswaal is the only one who KNOWS.
11:58 welcome to the club of most anime watchers XD

Her eyelashes are fine, Echidna is a waifu 😍 😆
At 15:50 when Subaru said "As a guy, I have mixed feelings about this" He was talking about how it damaged his manly pride for the girl he likes to be the one defending him. However he has mixed feelings because he is happy that she cares that much.
ps: you'll understand better later, but just so you know. echidna does care and she does want to help. thats the unmistakable thruth.
: o he's back in his world
18:13 mixed blood is affected by the barrier so pure demi humans (of their respcetive race) can be fine, pure humans can be fine etc (remeber demi human doesnt mean half human in this case it means humanoid) so if u have a demihuman parent and ur other parent is human ur affected for a example
Echdina's tea is top tier tea 10/10
Remember, echidna gave subaru the ability to give the trial. Thats why he can go in the sanctuary.
I am so excited for this season, it will be such a wild ride! 🤩🤩🤩
little misunderstanding, though a funny one that you made, he wasnt saying he had mixed feelings about garfiel, it was mixed feelings about emiliya protecting him, he loved hearing the reason, but everything he has been doing, dying, resetting, etc, has all been to protect her (not saying its a healthy mentality, just what was meant in the dialogue)
oh no its time for feels, the trials arc
that IS Ram being warm to Subaru, look at how she speaks to Emilia and then look at how she speaks to Subaru, who she is willing to laugh with and say things that are honest with.

You will see roswall in action this season, after all he is "The strongest magic caster in the kingdom"
Next episode is one of my favorites in the entire show. Really looking forward to your reaction.
4:55 no shes not cool when she says beasts that defy the will of god she means all the witch/demon beasts including the whale
You missed that Echidna said she would let Subaru do the trials.
When Subaru was about to leave, Echidna said that she's going to allow Subaru to attempt the trial of the Sanctuary. It has nothing to with the tea lol
What the tea did is help the Sloth witch factor that was in Betelguese, assimilate with Subaru better (Atleast that's what i think, if I'm wrong, someone tell me). As Beatrice and Echidna said, it moved to Subaru after he killed Betelguese
Can't wait for my favorite Rezero episode next time! S2 ep 4 is probably my most favorite episode in just anime in general. I loved it, I'm sure you'll do too Luke!
Get some tissues ready tho...
