    On this 2003 Nissan murano it showed to have a mass air flow sensor code. Before spending top dollar replacing, why not cleaning it

    I have never in my life commented on a TH-cam video. After siphoning fuel (to remove water that wasn’t there) replacing the spark plugs, and pulling/testing the fuel pump on my armada....I found your video. Mine wasn’t a piece of fuzz but a small mosquito. Could not believe something so small would prevent the truck from getting past 2k rpm. No more hesitation, running great. A million thanks!

    After a week of trying to get my daughters 2006 Altima to idle I found your video last night. This morning I did exactly as you in the video. A small piece of trash fell out. Sprayed with MAF cleaner, let dry and reinstalled. Cranked it up, idled and ran fine during a test drive. Thank you sir!!

    I was so pleased to watch this. After being all over TH-cam for what I believe to be an air flow issue, you were the only one to show the tach and explain what your problem vehicle was doing. My initial start rpm went to 600, disengaged MAF start held 1200 rpm at idle. Wow. Thanks to you, this might be where I need to start looking. I will let you know how it goes later. Need to buy cleaner but nothing open here at 6:30 pm. Off to supper, laundry, homework and chores for tonight. Sincerely, single mom, Full time RN.

      Oz Mechanics hey man, i cleaned it, and it seem to be fixed, but it keeps stalling and also i gotta hit the gas lots of times so the temperature goes up until it reaches the middle or either the car would, well, turn of and it shakes, and after that its normal, and if i let it rest for 2 hours the engine gets cold and i got to do the same thing again, i clean the throttle and clean the MAFS and also replaced the thermostat so idk, i have a 2001 toyota corolla so if someone can help me please, thanks.

    Awesome video and the best part to you are honest I do most repair in my cars I'm a vw & audi fan and most fails for these cars are relate to the map sensor when is about loosing power or boost 2.0 vw jetta sometimes give you this trouble just because the map is dirty or also the throttle body 1.8 turbo manifold pressure/boost sensor (g31) p0238 code is also relate to the map sensor only takes 10 minutes clean it clear codes and your back with not lights ..this could sometimes the cure at least you have some leaks or wire bad connections ..I'm not a mechanic i just a simple computer tech that goes beyond my knowledge keep the good work my friends greetings from Houston..

    Always vacuum the air box when changing the air filter. You have to get any loose debris out of there. Use top quality air filters and change them on schedule. If you live in a dusty area, you will need to change the filter more often.

    Thanks for the video. I have a 2000 Mercedes ML430 but this video answered my questions. I have already ordered a new Bosch air flow sensor so I missed the opt of checking for it being dirty, blocked, etc. But, I have 180,000 miles so it's not a big loss, the way I figure it. I bgt it for $138 instead of $399 retail or $260 from my mechanic. Amazing what parts cost. I don't see over $15 dollars worth of material in it. Maybe I should get in the making-air-mass-sensor business!

    After getting an 'engine check' light on the dash of my 2015 eco-diesel (traced to a mass air flow sensor issue) I was able to clear the light simply by changing the air filter. I found a mouse nest build-up on the intake side of the filter and after vacumming the filter unit completely and changing the filter, the light cleared itself after about 5 miles of driving. Try this 1st - it costs little to nothing and should be done anyway.

    2012 Nissan Frontier
    I'm hoping its an easy fix. Going to try cleaning it first. Truck started fine drove fine for a mile then just stalled while cruising at 50mph. I pulled it off and now it starts for a few seconds (very rough idle) and stalls again. Press gas pedal and no rev. MAF sensor?

    Wifes 2003 nissan sentra has ran perfect, went out today and liked to never got it started. Sputtered and sputtered and finally kept running, drove down the street no acceleration when stepping on the gas, it would slowly start to pick up speed. if you turn off motor hard to start again, had the hood up, also got a backfire by airbox.
    Cant figure this out? What do you think
    Thanks

    Hey Oz I replaced my maf sensor and the car starts up and idles fine…but as soon as you step on the gas….the engine drops out and throws a code for the maf….it’s a 1992 Lexus ls400 ….I think it’s my ECU as there a known issue.

    They say that the typical pattern of a bad MAF is a vehicle that is running rich at rest, lean under load. How often do you see that?

    • @OzMechanics
      @OzMechanics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First I do need to apologize on these old videos. Not the best I’ve produced. Normally I noticed that you see more of the fuel trim discrepancy while the vehicle is under load. I like looking at the fuel trims in freeze frame to see if it was running lean while the vehicle was under load, after that I want to verify if this is a fuel issue or air issue, so I run the VE test. Volumetric effeminacy test

    Hi Oz...You are amazing! Thanks for doing what you are doing! I have a Kia Sedona 2004. It was running fine until I put in a tank of gas. Suddenly, it randomly cut out. I'd be driving and it just seemed it was not getting gas. I have 67,000 miles on my car. After a week of my thinking maybe I had water in the gas or something, I decided to take it in to Big O but before I could, it literally just stopped. They ended up replacing a crank sensor, timing belt, water pump and coolant and cam sensor. I looked those up and yeah, the symptoms matched. Though I wondered if it would be a fuel pump. Anyways, why am I messaging here regarding the MAF? Because, when I got my car back, it runs and gets rpm and I can drive 50MPH but at 25MPH is shift weird, or slips or hesitates but not like before when it was the cam. Still, it is enough for me to worry that the car might lose gas and cut out on me. I asked Big O and the tech said it might be the MAF. But, watching you now, this is NOT the symptom I am having. However, maybe the symptom i am describing is a MAF symptom on a KIA?? But, the thing is, I did not have this symptom before coming in. Do you have any ideas what it could be and if a MAF is really it? Also, the tech said they dd not have a sensor like you used and some cars do not read MAF stuff...is that true? Please message me asap if you can. I really am lost here. I can't afford more repairs.

    It works! Wondering how that crap got in there. But your vid is titled "How to know if your MAS is bad." If this junk hadn't been in there, are there ways to check the sensor for other issues? Mine is throwing a code, and it's been cleaned once, but it's still throwing the code. Is there a way to check whether my sensor is bad, as opposed to just needing a cleaning?

    • @OzMechanics
      @OzMechanics  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dougie D you would have to actually test the maf sensor to look at the voltage. I'll be putting up a video about that In a bit. I'm testing a map sensor but it shows how to test them
