I also concur re your "teach" i.e. teaching style. Enigmatic as it may seem, your very limitations in english gave me a touch of intuition thet you would have one of the better videos on ths subject! As for the rest, we all try and "e-help" each other and maybe make the "big $$$ boys" sit up and take notice!! In me tercero lingua (Queoted from the song "Mas alla" by Glorai Estafan): ¡ cuando quieres luchar por un ideal, hay una sonrisa mas ! Nobody would really need to know one word of Spanish if they heard me say this as part of a speech! Practical Translation: When you care to fight for an ideal, there is another smile! Now I am sure there would be a poignant way to translate that into Italian, as both are romance (emotively focused) languages, VERY unlike Englsih!
Thank you! I got my HP officejet Pro 8610 working! Thanks to you! When I got the error message "system failure" I assumed the printer was broke for good and went out to replace it. When I was no longer under the crunch of needing a printer ASAP I took the time to search TH-cam for help. I found this tutorial. The printer fixed when I took out and put back the print head. It said the ink cartridges were damaged. They were not, so I put in old cartridges, made it run with those, the machine didn't like the used cartridges because they were empty but the system failure code cleared. I then took out the empty cartridges and put back the cartridges the printer called damaged and the printer was back up and ready to go. I guess now I have both printers. Maybe I should consider starting a print service business! Thanks again for taking the time to create this video!
Thank you so very much! I have a Inkjet 6700 with this problem. When I went to remove the HP Genuine cartridges the large black one was stuck as was the one next to it. I think my head is dirty, but I have not started yet. This is a very, very helpful TH-cam. Many thanks from Fallbrook, California, USA
thank you so much !! my printer works again it took me 15 minutos to see your video and the. do the steps and it work so happy thank thank you you are a blessing
It turned out to be the dried ink catridge (non original) as the problem. Luckily I kept the old original HP cartridges around so I put them back in even though they were empty, the printer cleared the error. Now I know it is the cartridges being empty is the problem (if you are using the non-original ones, the original ones actually report the probelm okay.). Good idea to keep the old empty original cartridges around for sure. Thanks for the tip.
Thank you I was ready to toss my hp6700 out and it was a leaking hp ink I never would have thought that was the problem but i put all new cartridges in and wala its fine...bless you
Thanks, glad to know how to access the support menu. Same method works on my HP CN616A Tap lower left button... upper left... lower left again.... then lower left one more time.
Just share what I did . I replace the genuine HP cartridges back and the the printer begins to check the device and resume working . Then I replace the depleted genuine one with aftermarket . Works now 。 worth a try
Well, bummer, I followed you and tried all the steps to fix my HP7520 & HP8610. Nothing worked to fix the printer ink failure. Not sure what else to try except but a new printer. Thanks for trying to help;
I have a T120 and have had this problem when I tried to use 3rd party ink replacement. I have found that the print head gets very dirty and needs to be cleaned. So I take the 4 inks out, then turn off the printer, then lift the main lid and slide the empty print head over, unlatch it, take it off, and run warm water over the print head while taking care not to get the circuit board wet. Then after a few minutes of rinsing off the wet ink jammed in the head, letting it run into the sink, I use a hair dryer with warm or cold air to dry off the print head as best I can. Then reinstall the print head, then the ink cartridges. This has worked two separate occasions for me, about a year ago and today. Obviously, don't just blindly trust someone saying put water on your print head, but research this option and do it if you're out of other options.
I would definitely not do anything like this :/ unfortunately using third party cartridges on those printers is a really bad idea that usually leads to a printhead failure. Ink leaks like that are not normal.
thanks for this video very informative, am using the HP 7740, i bought a new print head and i got this 'HP Ink System Failure!' i will try and find out the way to enter this sub-menu for the HP 7740. luckily i have the original setup cartridges.
Hi. Thanks for the lovely video. Grazie mille! Having had the problem of Ink System Error on my HP8600 Pro 911a, and resetting the printer I am stuck on the animation video and unable to restore the printer to it's normal menu! Preventing me to proceed further on the printer. I have however been able to access the embedded web page and connect the printer through WiFi and before I play up the video through the display, the printer shows "ready" on the web page but when trying to print reports, etc. through the embedded web page, it says "printer busy" on the web page. The moment I play the video the webpage shows printer error and the Ink System Error appears on the display and goes into the animation loop. The normal menu cannot however be restored. Can you please guide or suggest how to go about restoring the main menu and further course of action to restore the printer to working. Grazie!
I have a question: I have an HP Officejet pro 8600 plus. I followed your steps to reset the printer, refilled the original setup cartridges, and installed them, but it is still giving me the error: Depleted cartridges must be replaced to resume printing. Is there a way to get around this?
Do the printer gives you an option to keep using those cartridges? Even connecting it to a computer with the Driver installed? If not, maybe a recent firmware update made this impossible, or at least not obvious like before. Did the printer do the initialization or it locked before starting the ink charge? Paolo M.
ADCSFXworks The printer itself doesn't give me an option to keep using the cartridge. It only shows the button in the left lower corner of the screen which says "show me". The other button which I have seen before, which says "OK" doors not appear. So I will try connecting my computer when I get home, and I will see what the computer says, and I will let you know. Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it
ADCSFXworks I think I'm going to just have to buy a new cartridge in order to get the printer to initialize. I'm not seeing any options on the computer with it connected
HP 8620. I tried to use your method, but I am getting a message 'Missing or failed printed - the printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed'. There is no Back icon, only Home and a question mark.I went through the three steps suggested by HP. Enjoyed the video. The last one I watched, the author apparently had the comera mounted on his head. Had to leave before i got seasick!
Hi! That error message is different from the one shown in video, in that case the only thing you can do is replace the printhead... You can find them on AliExpress for around 65usd refurbished
Hi! I have 8600 printer, after I did the full reset now I have problem, every time turn on printer display ink system turn off then on if I lick ok then go to start animation.I don't have any display menu like before, please let me know how to fix this thanks
hi sir! thank you! very clear explanation. I was wondering if this will work with HP Photosmart D7260? I have the same problem and have been trying to research how to repair it. Appreciate help. Thanks
I got into the hidden menu and did the semi-reset, restarted and still coming up with the same error. HP OfficeJet Pro 8600. I have the "Ink System Failure: There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persist, contact HP." I have tried: reseating the printhead (more times than I can count). Removing individual cartridges and replacing them. Resetting by unplugging the power cord, then the cord from the wall, then waiting one minute, plugging back in. Cartridges have been shook and all have ink in them. Tried cleaning the printhead with commercial solution found on Amazon. The Magenta had a clog. Let it dry out completely and put it back in. Still have the same problem.
Hi :) It's because this menu is used by HP Technicians and it's not for end users, this way they can take more money with printer repairs! Thank you for watching my video, and if you have any further questions I'm always here. Happy christmas.
HP C5180 All-In-One Printer HARD RESET:Hold down HELP + OK button and unplug printer (could experiment with regular power-off, but I opted for brute force)Hold down HELP + OK button again as you plug the printer back in. Then power it on, if it doesn’t power on automatically. Be Safe: keep holding the buttons until the printer turns itself off. (It took mine less than a minute.)Now you can release the buttons and simply power it back on. (I held my breath, but that’s not required.)I got an error message about “improper shut down” since I unplugged it w/out powering down. After I clicked “OK” the printer was just fine and didn’t mind anymore. And now I can print.
i had the same issue on my HP Officejet 7612. I had tried all sorts of reset (partial reset, OOB reset), except the full reset (no setup cartdriges available), but nothing was working for me. I also had tried to add the aluminum foil on the printhead circuit, but it did not help either. So, with nothing to lose, I entered in the service menu and decided to try the option “MFG”. A grid appeared on the print screen, and I let it run for about 5 seconds, then I unplugged the power cord from the printer. After that, I reconnected the power cord, and the printer started working fine again!
Hi Thanks for sharing. I want to know what is the 'code combination' for hp all in one 6700 printer? I have this error after I did a printhead cleanning..... Thanks!!!
In my case, the 'ink supply system failure' error message was not caused by defective ink cartridges, or any software reason, but by the damper membrane of the cartridge pressurization manifold, inside my 952 printhead, having come unglued a bit, enough to prevent two of the cartridges from pressurizing properly. The fix: 1) Disassemble the printhead to remove the cartridge pressurization manifold. 2) With an X-Acto knife: trim both ends of the partially unglued acetate membrane on top of the cartridge pressurization weir ( a chambered labyrinth to regulate air pressure to the cartridges ), since the excess membrane material, on both ends, can unfortunately contribute to the membrane getting unglued whenever removing the ink pressurization manifold. Note: Do NOT peel off the membrane of the ink damper reservoirs instead, though - that's not the membrane we are talking about! 3) Peel-off the partially unglued membrane from the cartridge pressurization weir. 4) Clean the membrane with lighter fluid (best), or alcohol. Make sure not to wrinkle it in the process. 5) Apply superglue to the top of the walls of the cartridge pressurization weir ( preferably with a CA glue accelerator to minimize white fogging ), and gently reposition the acetate membrane. Wait a day. Make sure the tiny air outlet in the center, along the edge, is left unobstructed, though. 6) Reassemble the printhead.
I figured out that if you have issues getting to the secret menu because you can’t get the right screen up, just remove the print head and then the right menu will show up to click the arrow to get to the secret menu.
Great video. I have an HP Officejet 6500A plus. Suddently it appeared a message "ink system failure" error 0xc19a0020. I did all the power on and off , also cleaning of the printhead. Finally, I followed your instructions for semi-full reset. However the same message appears and then it falls into a loop with the"install printhead" video. Any ideas??? Thank you !
My 6700 had an error message that there was a printer or ink system failure and I could not reset it. I followed your advice and flushed the black nozzle with 40ml of tap water and the printer started working after that. I ran align print head and clean printheads after this. The water does run up and down quite a bit so make sure you swab the whole length of the trough in which the print head sits. Next time I will not buy an inkjet printer. The drink the ink even if not printing. I used this only for scanning and after 6 months needed to replace the cartridges which had been exhausted buy the start-up process. Next time I am getting a laser.
Hi i have tried everything you said but my Printer is still not working its stopped at "ink system failure. i don't know what to do HP Officejet Pro 8600.
Hi, I just have a question for you? Do the HP inkjet printers have some type of computer chip inside them somewhere that has a certain amount of control on the printer? Before I forget, I own a HP7520 and I love it. Also, I just want to thank you for your help to all of us that are not experts with computer hardware...From: Frank.
Hi Frank! Sorry for the delay :/ Every printer (not just HP) built after 2010-2011 will have a motherboard with a button cell battery on it, to keep the EEPROM on and remember the values even with the printer is off. Removing and reinserting the cell will not reset some informations like ink levels or most of the errors (like ink system error), it remembers date, time, copy and scan settings, and some other values like last cleaning cycle, last alignment ecc. This battery cell has been implemented mostly because printers have more sophisticated firmwares than before, and need to record some values even if you turn them on and then off! Your 7520 have this cell configuration for sure on the motherboard ;) Thank you for watching ;)
I recently had this issue and when I took out a non HP genuine ink cartridge it was leaking ): so i had to take it out and restarted my printer several times and took out ink cartridges, closed the door with it out, and reopened the door and replaced the ink cartridge.
Hi, thank you! Yes you can, if you've bought a NEW set of setup cartridges! If you used some used ones that you refilled yes you can but it's risky, because that way the ink monitoring is disabled, and you could run into the situation that the cartridge is empty and you don't actually see it, and if that happens the printhead will overheat and give you an ink system error, or worse it will die! If you want to refill your own OEM ink cartridges, I think the best solution is to buy from aliexpress some auto reset chips (ARC) for the cartridges of your printer, ex. (HP 950/951 ARC), you replace the chips on the cartridges and you fill them at their full capacity, and you're good to go :)
Your video is great Sir. i have done all what you have shown on your video and my hp officejet pro 8610 pro keeps showing that, There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Torn printer off, then on. if problem persists, contact HP. Please help me on what to do next.
great info well explained in English! would love a work around for my HP officejet pro 8620 third party ink (IKong 950xl and 951xl). My printer has locked out the touch screen with error message, "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists contact HP," I have gone through all of these steps and still does not work. not out of ink, purchased my new printer in 2016. have ordered replacement cartridges. HP ripped me off, I will never purchase their ink again or products but paid a lot of $ for this printer.
So probably it's a failure within the printhead :/ unfortunately HPs and Canons all can have this issue. The best way would be to buy an epson with NON-STATIONARY cartridges to use compatible or third party inks.
thank you very much my brother how to downgrade the firmware fo hp 7500a to solve problem of not geniune ink cartridge massege everytime printing thank you
Very detailed and informative. I am getting this message from my HP7612 Officejet "Printer or Ink System failure ". Trying to resolve it. HP helpdesk told me after going through online diagnostic tests that it is the Cartridge Sensor fault on one of the cartridges which is in this case YELLOW cartridge which it is not detecting. Any remedy.?
HP "updated" the firmware in my printer so that now all generic ink cartridges won't work, which is supposed to be illegal, yet they do it anyway. I tried calling tech support, but they claim that they cannot reset my firmware to what it was when I bought the product and it worked. I hope they enjoy the temporary increase in revenue as I am now forced to by "HP Ink", but I swear to God that I will never buy another HP product for the rest of my life!
HP is the worst in this case, Epson as an example just sends you a text box saying that you're using non-oem inks and this may void your warranty, but it allows you to go on and proceed using the inks. The only thing I can suggest you is to wait some time then trying to buy some high quality 3rd party inks. As HP upgrades the firmware, 3rd party manufacturers update their chips so that the new non-oem cartridges are recognized.
HP Print System Error: Hello from Canada! 1) If there is a people who have little or no language pride, it is english speaking Northamericans, IMHO canadains even more than Americans. So if you make a language mistake, relax! It is often to go totally unnoticed or ignored! or maybe, if the mistaken item is truly inscrutabe, we just might ask you to repeat - so what! 2) as it happens, I speak english (native) French (a strong second) and Spanish third,. but unfortunately I never learned Italin when I might have. 2a) Also I love doing "explanatory translations" (that's what is needed when something in one language needs translating to another but it is not easily and effectively translated. 3) So Now, Having downloaded your video so I can listen to it while doing s6 other thngs and take my time to write a more in-depth response, let all "keep their ears peelrd" and I think we might be able to shed some light and so lighten! 3a) Along with, I am a 73 year old retired electronic technician and 95 % of what I know was learned from "the School of Hard Knocks." As is well enough known it IS hard knocks, VERY hard knocks, but it aisi is the acid truth! So when, over most of as lifetine all too many, both professional and otherwise failed to respect what I was determined to know from the age of 5, I "took the bull by the horns" (rqather than being obliged to face him but the other end!). sure I made mistakes, man. However that was never any license for anyone to misuse, and that latter fact has been effectively the greater life conern for not only myself, but also for posterity. All too often older people have no interest or desire to face what needs facing, however I stand as one exception. You Tube has played a good role in making alternatives to consumer market greed available. Often, using linux, I will downlod to listen, and then revist to comment later at my convenience. =================================================================== Now to the Printer fix, and seeing if it is adequately simple for the avewrage user as long as he/she has some reasobanble meaure of persistence. First (timeline 1:47) you mention a support facility that is not normally aval8ilable to the end user. HO could have many excuses for not making this user accessible, however concurrently, uit also serves their ends in terms of "planned obsolescence". In quebec, we have a "government guarantee" law that states that any complaint that shows (my transpation) that the purchaser has not gotten reasonable use of what they paid for has a llegitimate complaint and the seller may be held respobnsible to make good. However this appears inauspiciously of little effect as it has been economically overturned by bigger money interests. Having had some 50 or more years of technical exposure, I remember a few years back pulling an HP pronter otut of the garbage and resrtoring it as well as being able to run it in Linux. Of course I had neother the cable (easy to replace generically ) and no disk (Linux develops its drivers in what is known as CUPS (AKA Common Unix Printing System) and while this is a bit more complex than what one does in Ms Windows, it is also inherently more versatile. That said, when the "printheads in basket" pronters came out, I thiought this would be great. It appears notablty less to be so now, as It is not possible to simply remove that basket, purchase another at a local retailer replace and go. Having run into this problem, I looked on You tube and found some videos on the subject. Being one to be a stickler for details (and unlimately it pays off, unpopular as it is at times), I liked your determined approach to this one as that alone signals to the "big boys" that there are those out there who are rather rankeled with their use of planned obsolescence. to be continued...
2 Continued... 1) Changing Cartridges: In my case, I never used refilled cartridges. Second I have the Office Jet pro 7610 Large format. I am not about to transport this as it is much bigger and heavier than a letter or A4 size printer. Also it is on a network as it is too far from my computers to be connected USB, and also is shared amongst multiple Linux machines. So If it has to go to a shop, it will likely be scrapped and not replaced with anything of the like. (This model is an all in pone and scans up to 11"X 17" and pronts up to 13" X 19" (Super B). However it does not have a driver that allows for custom paper sizes, to me an annoyance, but not insurmountable). Now I will also look for signs of leaking cartridges. (this machine uses 4, but there are regular and large calacpty cartridges. I personally only use the large capacity.) 1b) Beofre changing cartridges, I scrutinized the cartridges for ink leaks. On the magenta cartridge there was a droplet of ink, but small it had a diameter of about 1 mm. and as such I would estimate a volume or1-3 microliters. (I base the estimate on my experience with glucometer blood requirements, as i have been diabetic for about 20 years. Roughly, a drop in the usual sense amounts to about 5 microliters, but current glucometers only require about 1.5 microliters.) As for removing the cartridges on thois machine it is similar, except that the cartridges come out by the front adfter having raised both the docoment feweder and the scabnner base (which serves as a cover for the printer. then there is another vertical plastic panel which snaps out at its top and swings down, exposing a rectangular hole/opening from which the cartriges are removed and replaced. The cartridges have no levers to lock themselves in, it is done be a toogle push-in, push-out mechanism. to be Continued 3...
2 Continued... I should have mentioned: I also have my limitations, as it happens I have a disability in relation to "small motor physical coordination". while incurable, it is not so serious as to prevent me from functioning, but it does result in a lot of typographical errors, and not all of them are cought with spell checkers. So don't be surprised if you see a few typoes. 1) Changing Cartridges: 1a) In my case, I never used refilled cartridges. Second I have the Office Jet pro 7610 Large format. 3 Continued... Parlance: at 4:56. Instead of "maybe never working" try "this alone may not be enough to fix the problem." (This is for more than one reason, but since you are going to persist further if it does not work, ot avoids the finality of the word "never" as some people might stop listening there, albeit their mistake! One more note (at 5:16) Reset the printer (5:11) As I had mentioned, my prointer is the oversize model that is related to why the cartridges in this model come pout from that vertical door in the front. the larger overall size of this model results in the height of the internal area where the cartridges slew back and forth is high enough that there is a notable amount of space above the cartriges and basket. When you mentioned that this is just the basic reset, you did well! this prewarns your audience not to be confused if or when they should encounter the major reset later. "forwarned is forarmed!". Next, when you told us to unplug the power card ("hard power down") I think it would be a good idea to also unplug both the USB or ethernet connection, as well as any telephone line connection during the hard power cycle. this is because sometimes these lines may back a small amount of power into the printer, potentially latching up the interface chips (the integrated circuits whose "first line" job is to receive and send the signals to and from the printer to other equipment). then, just before re-powering, reconnect them. Be sure you have labeled them so you will know which goes where after unplugging them. this is especially important with the telephone (RJ-12 connectors) which manage both the fax, and the distinctive ring features in models where these may exist.) (Note; your telephjone service provider may have different names for "distinctive ring" as it is a service provided by them, but which uses features that mnay be built into yOur equipment). to be continued 4...
4 continued... 6:16: "remove and reinsert Print Head: By about 6: 48 I had seen how you removed the print heads from your model. However in the Office Jet pro 7610 oversize this is physically not the case. Now I have two options: 1) I can look for a video that shows that model with the print heads being removed. If I find an adequately explicit (audio and visual) demonstration for the 7610 oversize model, I can use that and link back here later. If not, I will have no choice but to do it "hacker style" myself. this may or may not be successful, as this model is known to have had some unrepairable issues in the past. when I encountered those at the time, I swas able to get a replacement for the entire printer, although the ancillary transportation issues cost me close to half the original purchase price. (Complicated logistics procedure excluded here). If I do that, I will document the effort for my personal support files (backed up and kept offline for preservation). However, I am not in a position yet to start uploading videos and I am not planning to do so with any form of monetising. I take the role of the staunchly independent "street teacher", never accepting p[ay that might become a corrupting beholding. (Also the degree of "creeping socialism" here is enough that any such income or taxible benefit frm anywhere would more than be taxed out of my hands, a loss to all.) End for now.
Hi! Thank you for your contribution and for telling your experience to anyone will read in the comments :) and also thank you for the "never" thing, I didn't know this behaviour of apparently many people! Personally I think that removing and reinserting your printhead wouldn't get things better, because the contacts plate in the rear of the head I shown in video is different for the 7610 (basically it has three flat cables sticking in their connectors, and it's really hard to get an electrical mismatch in that case). If you'll have to replace the printhead, the most economical way (granted that you can spend more than one month for the delivery) is this www.ebay.com/itm/222660163625 In order to remove and replace the printhead on your printer, you need to lift the scanner unit, and then you'll have full access to the printer internals, then remove a plastic cover, you'll have then to unlock 2 springs and then remove the printhead disconnecting the three pre-mentioned flat cables, it's not so difficult but of course I think a textual description of what to do won't be enough, you need for sure a video, and that's it! :) th-cam.com/video/zvz2LkT-dLU/w-d-xo.html Yes it's not english, but it's not so hard and you can see everything. Hope it helps Paolo M.
do you have Idea about this? to avoid damage use On button to shoutdown do not. use a power strip or wall switch to shout down (printer error please turn off, then turn on)
Hi Ron For "Hard reset" you mean the semi-full reset? If not, and the printer doesn't ask you for the setup cartridges you should be able to use standard cartridges. Paolo M.
I unplugged the printer, and held down the start button and plugged the printer in holding the button until the white light came on. At that point I did a sequence on buttons that put it in a rest mode. I think it’s the process HP technicians use. It’s not asking to install a set up cartridge. It displays “printer head not installed” . No other function works
And? The printhead is installed? If that's the case, I think you have a bad printhead, you need to replace it. This sequence you did can fix in some cases only the ink system failure, not the printhead missing error. Paolo M.
I have a hp photosmart 7520. I attempted to follow along with you on the setup system, however when I attempted to enter the back, home, back, back code and the back x 4 code, I was unable to get to the support menu. Also, I have a Cis system which did not come with non return values. I had a air in my lines, which caused the ink to flow out of the cartridges when I tried to remove the air. When I do a print quility diagnostic test all of the colors(C,M,Y and Photo) show, except the black, in which the box is blank(empty). I have my original cartridges, but they are empty. Is there a code for the hp 7520?
I have a HP Pro 8610. I did the semi full reset. It says, Do not use Setup Cartridges. I’m guessing I need to buy a new set of regular cartridges. I put the old regular cartridges in it and it pops up error message. The print head does drip a lot of ink though. Maybe the head is bad. I’m going to try to clean it with some solution. Any tips on fixing a leaking print head or what I should do? Thanks:)
I have the message "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn the Printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP". I did turn on and off, unplug the Printer, all that try to reset it, but it still says the same. I can't find a way to reach the main menu to do the semi-reset like you showed in the video. Would you please help me?
I have the same issue with my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. There is only a "?" that is accessible to see . There is no main menu to access only the Printer Failure and the fix that doesn't work
I get full MCYB "incompatible ink cartridge" error, but if I remove any of the cartridges it shows problem only on that one. Weird, that means the cartridges are OK, but HP just doesn't like them. Photosmart B110 is too smart?
Based on this video, the impression I get is that the "ink system failure" message is the printer equivalent of the Blue Screen of Death if you're not a trained tech with all the tools!
I have an HP Photosmart c6350 All-in-one which is displaying the message Ink System Failure, Oxc19a0022, Pleas turn printer OFF then ON. I have done all the things HP recommends except replacing the print head. Error still displays, I have tried your trick to access the support menu, starting with the printer OFF, holding the power button down for 15 seconds, and pressing Back, Home, Back, Back. It does not go to the support menu and the message still comes up, locking all manual and computer based controls. Is there a different access code for this printer?
I have a photo smart D7160 Hp, It has quit picking up the paper from the paper tray and continues to say "out of paper" there are no sign of paper jams. Any suggestions?
We have a new DesignJet T520 and just finished the black ink starter cartridge. We tried installing a compatible black ink cartridge but the printer gives a "missing or damaged ink cartridge" error. Why are there tons of compatible HP711 out there if HP prevents the use of them? Is there a workaround this detection scam?
There's no scam at all... Your printer uses PIGMENT BASED inks, every compatible cartridge contains really cheap DYE INK, if you're ok to damage your printhead it's fine, but I suggest you to at least buy some auto reset refillable cartridges and fill them with some high quality pigment based ink, like InkTec. Consider that everytime you update your printer's firmware there's a chance of any compatible chip to fail.
Gazie
Hi again. I bought a new printhead for my HP6500 from ebay. However, I couldn't find HP 920 Setup Cartridges no matter how hard I looked. I only found setup for the three colours but not the black one. Can I do semi-full reset using only the colored cartridges? Could you suggest where to find HP920 setup cartridges? Thank you !!!
Hi! If you replace the printhead you don't need the setup cartridges and you don't need to do any semi-full reset, you just need new normal cartridges. You need the setup cartridges only in some cases where the printer after the semi-full reset will be stuck on "insert the setup cartridges" Try just inserting the new printhead with new cartridges, if you don't fix we'll proceed. Paolo M.
Thank you for your reply. The problem is that I have already done semi-reset. I have bought brand new HP cartridges as well. Even now, however, it keeps saying "ink system failure ..." Actually, because I thought the new printhead was damaged I asked a replacement from the seller. The new one still does the same. I appreciate any ideas.
Ayman Abdel Aziz of course, you don't need the exact same setup cartridges that came with your printer, they just need to be setup cartridges :) Paolo M.
I have a photo smart HP D7160 printer that has stopped picking up paper from the paper tray. It reads "Out of Paper" but the tray has paper in it and is in the correct position. There are no signs of paper jams, any suggestions?
Hello ADCSFXworks, I have a HP 7612 (2016) with a "ink system failure" and used your solution of semi-partial reset (restarted with the setup cartridges, and replaced them by others), but the error stays, have you any solution ?
Hi! Did you mean the semi-full reset? If after the semi-full reset and the following initialization of the printer the error remains, you need to replace the printhead :/ you can find it cheap on AliExpress it.aliexpress.com/item/CB863-80013A-CB863-80002A-932-933-932XL-933XL-Stampante-Testina-di-stampa-testina-di-Stampa-per/32834812343.html Be sure to download a service manual or find a video where you can see how to replace it before attempting the repair! My printer is a HP Photosmart 5520. On powering up my printer says Printer Failure Oxc19a0042 There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off and then on. Everytime i switch on the same message appears I have completely removed the print head and everything to do with the head, completely cleaned everything and refitted. Still getting the same message. and unable to proceed any farther. The only buttons on right hand side are wi-fi, ePrint and power button. Only the power button works. 4 brand new 364 xl ink cartridges were fitted. Printer worked ok for 1 month and then the failure message appeared. Is there anything you can tell me that i can try to fix this problem. Thanking you Joe
Thank you Marcelli.paolo! Ill try that. Before seing this, I brought a used same model, Officejet 6700 Premium from ebay user, which only feeds one sheet of paper at a time.I have to travel 100 miles round trip to the town where daughter lives, to pick, THAT one up, at some point. In meantime, Ill try what you saying, with this one! Do you know of a solution for that one?
Definitely easier to fix the one with the ink system failure even in the case of a printhead swap most of the times! When that printer can't pickup paper correctly without you pushing the sheets inside it's a problem of one of the plastic gears that snapped and broke, to get to it you need to completely disassemble the printer and guess what? No parts are available, so you need to fix it with Epoxy resin and hope for the best! :( Anyway thank you for the comment Chris :) Paolo M.
I am a retired computer teacher and you are one of the best teachers in showing how to repair a printer. Great job, Job well done.
Woah thank you! This is maybe the best thing someone ever told me about this topic, I sincerely thank you a lot! :)
In me tercero lingua (Queoted from the song "Mas alla" by Glorai Estafan):

Nobody would really need to know one word of Spanish if they heard me say this as part of a speech!
Practical Translation:
When you care to fight for an ideal, there is another smile!
Now I am sure there would be a poignant way to translate that into Italian, as both are romance (emotively focused) languages, VERY unlike Englsih!
Good job sir... but do you think the same thing will work with hp7612 printer???
Hello Stuart, i am also a retired computer teacher nd paolo me too conquere ur teaching style
Stuart Sussman then can u help me
Thank you. Amazing stuff. The printer has been broken for two weeks and 10 mins of your video and it's sorted right out. Thank you from 2023!
Thank you so much. HP website wrote my printer off. You saved it just by changing the ink ❤
That's what they wanted you to do, to give them more money :) but you saved it!!!
Your English is great! Cool accent! I understood perfectly, thank you!
Thank you very much!!! I almost took my printer in for recycling but it turns out it was a bad ink cartridge. You saved me a ton of money.
Awesome video, you helped me fix my printer after your third suggestion, but I'm still watching it. Thank you!
Thank you too for watching my video :)
even this video was posted long ago was really helpful. Thank you for all you who take your time to help us the electronics issue. Thank you.
Thank you Adriana, happy that you found my video useful :)
Thanks. It's really works. No matter what language you speak , but matters what wonders you do. Thanks once again.
YAY!!!!! Unplugging the printer worked for me! THANK YOU!!!!!! Wonderful!!!!!!

Excellent work my friend & your English is amazing here’s to Italia 🇮🇹 I Love italia!!!!!
Thank you :) my english has improved a lot since that video though :)
Trenching the printhead and cleaning it solved the problem in my large format HP Designjet T520. Nice work!
Genius, thank you so much! Removing and reinserting the print head did the trick :-)
WHat did you do after remove the print head? any cleaning? I've did so but the problem still there
Worked for me, and saved me from having to buy a new printer. Thank you.
Please help my printer didnt work after i have done all the steps
Hp7612
It turned out to be the dried ink catridge (non original) as the problem. Luckily I kept the old original HP cartridges around so I put them back in even though they were empty, the printer cleared the error. Now I know it is the cartridges being empty is the problem (if you are using the non-original ones, the original ones actually report the probelm okay.). Good idea to keep the old empty original cartridges around for sure. Thanks for the tip.
EXACTLY! Same here--
Great video, thank you for your time! Your English was just fine! 😁👏🏽👌🏽
Omg thank you! Got a secondhand hp printer, not using ink correctly so thank you!
Love the accent. Italy rocks. Great video. Thanks.
Many thanks!!! c:

very informative and well structured tutorial. thank you very much from Germany!
Thank you so much for sharing this, very generous of you !
Thank you too for whatching my video :)
Thank you I was ready to toss my hp6700 out and it was a leaking hp ink I never would have thought that was the problem but i put all new cartridges in and wala its fine...bless you
Thank you :3
Can you explain what you mean by this? Leak where? 😭
Thanks, glad to know how to access the support menu. Same method works on my HP CN616A
Tap lower left button... upper left... lower left again.... then lower left one more time.
Happy to know that this has been useful for you ;)
Just share what I did . I replace the genuine HP cartridges back and the the printer begins to check the device and resume working . Then I replace the depleted genuine one with aftermarket . Works now 。 worth a try
Well, bummer, I followed you and tried all the steps to fix my HP7520 & HP8610. Nothing worked to fix the printer ink failure. Not sure what else to try except but a new printer. Thanks for trying to help;
thanks for showing on how to start setup (either 4 times back button - or back home back back)
Thank you for watching, I'm glad you found the video useful :)
Yes it is installed. The problem started when I had the black cartridge refilled at Costco last week. The printer worked until the install.
I think the printhead is faulty, this can happen randomly depending on several aspects, or for a bad refilling practice of the cartridge.
Paolo M.
Your English is better than my Italian.
thank you its work just before i sent it to service shop
thanks for this video very informative, am using the HP 7740, i bought a new print head and i got this 'HP Ink System Failure!' i will try and find out the way to enter this sub-menu for the HP 7740. luckily i have the original setup cartridges.
Thanks for the video. I was able to do the reset without using setup cartridges. My generic re-manufactured cartridges worked fine.
Grazie!
Thank you so much for this video. I believe one of my cartridges is leaking. I'm going to try that first. This was a very good demonstration.
Thank you for appreciating the video though I don't speak a so good english :)
Thank you! You are a great teacher!
You did a great job!
thanks, step 3 worked for me!
Thank you for watching the video :)
Awesome, very helpful - Thank you!
You are the man, my Italian friend! Thanks so much!
Happy that you found this video useful ^_^
Fantástico video, mis amis! Multo bono amigo. I enjoyed your video and will use it to fix my printer. Gracias!
Grazie Mille - Thank you So much :)
Hey, thanks!!! 'had to go through many of the steps but worked like a charm!!!
You can find them on AliExpress for around 65usd refurbished
how to reset if you dont have set up cartridges?
Hi! I have 8600 printer, after I did the full reset now I have problem, every time turn on printer display ink system turn off then on if I lick ok then go to start animation.I don't have any display menu like before, please let me know how to fix this thanks
loc pham I know mate. I'm stuck in the animation
Have same problem can not turn printer on
hi sir! thank you! very clear explanation.
I won't beleive on TH-cam before watching your video Get the solution after watching your video.
:) I've a lot of printer repair videos, all of them with a successful test print at the end. Happy that my video helped you.
Thank you so much. Great detail super helpful. Was able to understand it all too.
excelent brillian even hp does not a video like this ,,,,just asking why..????
thanks you save my money and peaceful of mind...""ciao
Hi :)
It's because this menu is used by HP Technicians and it's not for end users, this way they can take more money with printer repairs!
What is the OOB reset please?
@@kaushikvarma6263 out of box. The unboxing printer
what "MFG" ?
so i have an hp7610 i’m having this problem i will try this thanks for the video when i try this i will get back to ya
Thank you! Problem fixed!
Thank you for watching :)
Hi Thanks for sharing. I want to know what is the 'code combination' for hp all in one 6700 printer? I have this error after I did a printhead cleanning..... Thanks!!!
Hi! I think that's 4 times the back key. but I'd try installing some new cartridges before doing the semi-full reset, if the cartridges are not new.
The fix:
1) Disassemble the printhead to remove the cartridge pressurization manifold.
6) Reassemble the printhead.
can you make video about this sir
I think I’m having same problem
If you plan on printing occasionally an inkjet printer is never a good choice! InkJet printers are made to print, at least every week.
Hi
i have tried everything you said but my Printer is still not working its stopped at "ink system failure. i don't know what to do
HP Officejet Pro 8600.
+Elvis Omoruyi What type of ink are you using? Compatibles? OEMs? Refillables? Refilled OEMs?
I'm a printer technician I'll help u :)
ADCSFXworks I have the same problem with my 8600 model, but we reused ink cartridges by filling them up ourselves
Hi Frank!
Sorry for the delay :/
Every printer (not just HP) built after 2010-2011 will have a motherboard with a button cell battery on it, to keep the EEPROM on and remember the values even with the printer is off.
Your 7520 have this cell configuration for sure on the motherboard ;)
Thank you for watching ;)
I recently had this issue and when I took out a non HP genuine ink cartridge it was leaking ): so i had to take it out and restarted my printer several times and took out ink cartridges, closed the door with it out, and reopened the door and replaced the ink cartridge.
Great job, thank you!
What a great post. I have a question. Can you use the start up cartridges more than one time?
Hi Eugene!
If even with new cartridges & semi-full reset it keeps showing this error, you probably need to replace the printhead :/
@@PaoloMarcelli Okay thanks P M. Though i might not be able to find the print head in my town. Maybe i will just have to go for a new printer.
great info well explained in English! would love a work around for my HP officejet pro 8620 third party ink (IKong 950xl and 951xl).
When I turn on the computer it says Ink System Failure and will not show anything else.
I am looking for hp 920 setup cartridges. Any idea where to find it?

Now to the Printer fix, and seeing if it is adequately simple for the avewrage user as long as he/she has some reasobanble meaure of persistence.

1) Changing Cartridges:
In my case, I never used refilled cartridges.
I personally only use the large capacity.)
1b) Beofre changing cartridges, I scrutinized the cartridges for ink leaks. On the magenta cartridge there was a droplet of ink, but small it had a diameter of about 1 mm. and as such I would estimate a volume or1-3 microliters.
(I base the estimate on my experience with glucometer blood requirements, as i have been diabetic for about 20 years. Roughly, a drop in the usual sense amounts to about 5 microliters, but current glucometers only require about 1.5 microliters.)
As for removing the cartridges on thois machine it is similar, except that the cartridges come out by the front adfter having raised both the docoment feweder and the scabnner base (which serves as a cover for the printer. then there is another vertical plastic panel which snaps out at its top and swings down, exposing a rectangular hole/opening from which the cartriges are removed and replaced. The cartridges have no levers to lock themselves in, it is done be a toogle push-in, push-out mechanism.

I should have mentioned:
I also have my limitations, as it happens I have a disability in relation to "small motor physical coordination". while incurable, it is not so serious as to prevent me from functioning, but it does result in a lot of typographical errors, and not all of them are cought with spell checkers. So don't be surprised if you see a few typoes.

Parlance: at 4:56. Instead of "maybe never working" try "this alone may not be enough to fix the problem." (This is for more than one reason, but since you are going to persist further if it does not work, ot avoids the finality of the word "never" as some people might stop listening there, albeit their mistake!
One more note (at 5:16)
Reset the printer (5:11) As I had mentioned, my prointer is the oversize model that is related to why the cartridges in this model come pout from that vertical door in the front. the larger overall size of this model results in the height of the internal area where the cartridges slew back and forth is high enough that there is a notable amount of space above the cartriges and basket.

"remove and reinsert Print Head:
By about 6: 48 I had seen how you removed the print heads from your model. However in the Office Jet pro 7610 oversize this is physically not the case.
Now I have two options:
1) I can look for a video that shows that model with the print heads being removed.
(Also the degree of "creeping socialism" here is enough that any such income or taxible benefit frm anywhere would more than be taxed out of my hands, a loss to all.)
End for now.
If you'll have to replace the printhead, the most economical way (granted that you can spend more than one month for the delivery) is this www.ebay.com/itm/222660163625
In order to remove and replace the printhead on your printer, you need to lift the scanner unit, and then you'll have full access to the printer internals, then remove a plastic cover, you'll have then to unlock 2 springs and then remove the printhead disconnecting the three pre-mentioned flat cables, it's not so difficult but of course I think a textual description of what to do won't be enough, you need for sure a video, and that's it! :) th-cam.com/video/zvz2LkT-dLU/w-d-xo.html
Yes it's not english, but it's not so hard and you can see everything.
Hope it helps

do you have Idea about this? to avoid damage use On button to shoutdown do not. use a power strip or wall switch to shout down (printer error please turn off, then turn on)
I did a hard reset on my B210 before I saw your video. Do I have to use setup cartridges now before this printer will work?
Hi Ron
For "Hard reset" you mean the semi-full reset?

Thanks:)
Hi , Very nice video. Do you have any link to buy setup cartridges? I searched on ebay and didn't find any. Thank you
I have the message "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn the Printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP". I did turn on and off, unplug the Printer, all that try to reset it, but it still says the same. I can't find a way to reach the main menu to do the semi-reset like you showed in the video. Would you please help me?
Hi, could you please tell me your printer's model? Thanks :)
It is HP Officejet Pro 8623. Thank you.
For this series the combination of keys to press to access the service menu is 4 times BACK key
I have the same issue with my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. There is only a "?" that is accessible to see . There is no main menu to access only the Printer Failure and the fix that doesn't work
@@dennisschmiedge9336 I'm having the same issue.
I have an HP Photosmart c6350 All-in-one which is displaying the message
Ink System Failure, Oxc19a0022, Pleas turn printer OFF then ON.
Thanks! You rock!
Thank you :3
I have a photo smart D7160 Hp, It has quit picking up the paper from the paper tray and continues to say "out of paper" there are no sign of paper jams.

How to open the new 8600 printer to take out the printhead?
Grazie farò come dici
Ok thanks for the info
Ho lo stesso problema (a volte si trasforma in ''Printhead missing, not detected, incorrectly installed or incompatible'') con una stampante HP Officejet Pro 8100.Qualche consiglio?Gazie
Devi sostituire la testina di stampa se compare anche quel secondo errore :/

hello sir i use this methode fo the hp t525 but it ask me for a pin number what should i do ?
You need the setup cartridges only in some cases where the printer after the semi-full reset will be stuck on "insert the setup cartridges"
Try just inserting the new printhead with new cartridges, if you don't fix we'll proceed.
Hmmm could be a problem with the Service Station then, but for sure the printer needs to be repaired.
Paolo M.
I have a HP 6700 premium I tried the the to get to the support menu but not working ... with back home back back why ??
Try 4 times back :)
Or you could try home then the right arrow
Excellent video but can you use a set of used setup ink cartridges from another printer to do this process
Ayman Abdel Aziz of course, you don't need the exact same setup cartridges that came with your printer, they just need to be setup cartridges :)

I have a photo smart HP D7160 printer that has stopped picking up paper from the paper tray. It reads "Out of Paper" but the tray has paper in it and is in the correct position. There are no signs of paper jams, any suggestions?
Hi, use a flashlight to see if the pickup roller rotates when the printer tries to load paper.
Hello ADCSFXworks, I have a HP 7612 (2016) with a "ink system failure" and used your solution of semi-partial reset (restarted with the setup cartridges, and replaced them by others), but the error stays, have you any solution ?
Hi! Did you mean the semi-full reset?
If after the semi-full reset and the following initialization of the printer the error remains, you need to replace the printhead :/ you can find it cheap on AliExpress it.aliexpress.com/item/CB863-80013A-CB863-80002A-932-933-932XL-933XL-Stampante-Testina-di-stampa-testina-di-Stampa-per/32834812343.html
Be sure to download a service manual or find a video where you can see how to replace it before attempting the repair!

How can I access the hidden keys when the error message is frozen in "system ink failure"?????
is it same for hp desingjet t520 ?
Anyway thank you for the comment Chris :)
