I watched this movie several times and went beyond the romantic side of it to see the struggles of a kleptomaniac. I pitied their mom. Addiction is real be it drug, alcohol, sexual, social media, etc., it is so overwhelming that the addict loses control over his actions. May God deliver people who suffer from different forms of addictions in Jesus' name, amen. An incredibly unique story indeed. The cast of young adults delivered their roles perfectly. I wish them more grace and favor in the Nollywood industry and never to lose focus.🙏

I had to come back bc I forgot to say how much I appreciate the ending of The One Who Stole My Heart 2. I respect that the ending was not a heat and serve, prepackaged, or manufactured happy ending. It was straight forward and realistic in that if you keep doing the crime you can or will end up doing more time. The ending was riddled with lessons and cautionary tales. It had simple yet complex layers bc it left the door open for yet another part that can show the family dynamic got better, the same, or worse. I am always a sucker for tales of redemption.

Omoni Oboli is an amazing and prolific producer but can we take a moment to appreciate her phenomenal acting. Mrs. Omoni has such reverence for classical acting. I been a fan since Fifty, Anchor Baby, and Love is War. She is truly a timeless and well seasoned pro. Mrs. Omoni's role was played to perfection. Every line appealed to me bc it felt so natural like a walk in the park. I respected that Omoni's character mostly owned that she had been selfish and almost never put the Onus back on her children's resentment towards her except when a mockery was made out of them having to go through therapy. I was disheartened by that bc at the very least up until that point it was always acknowledged that she had abandoned, neglected, and disappointed them. Deep seated issues don't dissolve and go away over night. Simply wanting or wishing the damage one has caused would go away is not enough. One has to put forth an effort to actively change with time is my takeaway. Really strong, mature, resilient kids with flaws and insecurities to work through together as a family. I really appreciate the play on words and the thought that was put into the title of the movie . The One Who Stole My Heart 1 and 2 was a very befitting title. Thank you for yet another Gem 💎 Mrs. Omoni... Respect ❤

This is not a habit though. It is an addiction. Addiction is a mental disorder. The addictive behaviour (in this case, stealing) activates the brain’s reward centre, producing pleasure. The pleasure is like a ‘drug hit.’ Remember when the mother spoke of the “thrill” of stealing? Over time, it takes bigger and bigger ‘hits’ to produce the thrill, meaning more stealing, bigger risks, more expensive prizes etc. This can eventually alter the brain such that this becomes the new normal. The addict is now mentally configured to carry out the addictive behaviour the way dogs are configured to bark and fish to swim. This is the point when they cannot stop, even if they want to.
However, addictions can be treated, as was the case with the two daughters. The challenge is, you have to want to give it up. Pleasure is not easy to give up. Just think of being required to give up sex, for instance, for the rest of your life. Many people would happily die instead of giving up sex! I have heard numerous people who are addicted to smoking, say, “We will all die of something.” That’s how an addict thinks because their normal thought process is impaired.
I love that this movie showed not everyone can change. It's not realistic to always expect people to change for the better. Some persons are better off not in our lives and that can include family

I really loved this duology. It's one that goes beyond the luxurious and glamorous life we always see in movies. This one touches the subject of trauma which is not always talked about and the part two gave a wider sense of how healing that trauma takes time, trust, forgiveness and communication.
