Yes, you will need to. I would recommend picking up a copy of an issue of the magazine, as well as picking a couple of relevant examples from the website.

Do you do The Bridge? I really don’t understand it
I do, but might not be able to get a video done in time that lasts less than about four hours. Shout out a question and I'll try and answer though.
The question will most likely relate to economic factors, and the bridge is funded by two companies a PBS and a commercial company or it will be about how it's post modernistic
Both of those are definite possibilities, but I wouldn't rule out genre or narrative, nor a question on the representation of gender.

It's a term best suited to Life on Mars - the way in which the 70's Sam is thrown back into is essentially a hyperreal version of the actual 70's mediated through crime shows of the period - but for the Bridge you can argue that it is a very self-aware show - another hallmark of post-modern texts - for example, the scenes between Lillian and Hans and Lillian and Hanna in which they discuss Saga, the show is constantly building Saga into a larger than life, hyperreal, almost mythical character - and this self-awareness is highly post-modern.

Thank you for your videos! Is there a structure we can be aware of for component 2 in terms of how many big essays please?
The likelihood is that two of the topics will be tested with 30 mark questions where you write about both texts, and the other topic will be tested by two 15 mark questions, with each question getting you to focus on a different text. No way of knowing for certain this will be the case (thought my guess is it will be) or of which pairing of texts will get the 2x15 rather than 1x30 treatment. Hope that helps! Good luck!

i know this video is quite old - but I don't really get what types of questions they could ask about Zoella?
Sorry for tardiness of response. You'll be comparing with Attitude magazine/website and might look, for example at the representations and how they position the audiences. In other words explore the brand of femininity that Zoella constructs and how and why this is likely to appeal to a particular demographic. Or you might like at how the two media products (Zoella and Attitude) have been constructed to appeal to the needs the audience or what factors are likely to determine/influence how audiences respond to them. Hope that helps. And who knows when an exam will actually be set on this stuff...
Hi could you give some advice on how to do the revision for component 2 plz? Since each texts are all concluding so many things that i have no idea how to start it! thanks a lot and your videos are really helpful!
My best advice is to organise your revision around the strands of the theoretical framework and from there think about how well each of the relevant theories applies to each text. So far TV for example that means thinking about Media Language (think narrative, genre, representation and what you could say about each and how you could think link that to Levi-Strauss, Neale, Baudrillard, Hall, hooks, Gauntlett etc.) This should be a way of pulling all your knowledge together in a way that will be relevant for the exam. I don’t even study media (and never have) but i want to know why zoella is on a spec
TH-cam as a platform has played a huge part in transforming the relationship between ,media producers and audiences, and, love her or hate her (or be totally indifferent towards her) to understand Zoella is to understand how and why this happened.
