This was their biggest hit, and it appeared in the movie and on the soundtrack to the Molly Ringwald romantic comedy "Pretty in Pink" (the redhead teen girl in the music video scenes). ... You might also like the 1980s British band called ABC and their songs "Poison Arrow" and "The Look of Love" and "Be Near Me." ABC was part of the New Romantics scene in 1980s England, which also included dapper-dressed bands like Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet ("True").
I love OMD, and this particular song -- such nostalgia! Reminds me of when I first saw Pretty in Pink, still one of my fave movies ever with the quintessential 80s cast, ultimate soundtrack (EVERY song on it is amazing) and the clothes and overall style is to die for. You'd love the movie and the soundtrack.
I loved the way Iona had a different style every day, except at the end when she went all preppy 😄 Same as Breakfast Club actually, when Alison was 'normalised'. They looked better before they were 'fixed'.
@@HappiestG me too. I was about 18 when I first saw it and basically ripped her off 😁 But as I explained to a 'normal' once, you don't just decide to go alt or goth etc., it's how you are inside that draws you to it.

I saw them in the mid 80's in Liverpool when I was a teenager. I'm 'only' 50 now, but can't remember anything about it...might have been about the same time I discovered weed 😄 I only had 2 albums - Junk Culture and Crush, and loved them at the time.
