Hey Eric...that plant is called a Adam's Needle Yucca. Perfect for both novice and experienced gardeners alike, this shrub can develop a tall, thick flowering stem in summer. These dramatic accents are usually between 4 and 5 feet, but some years, you may see a spike that reaches 6 feet or more! The creamy white, tulip-shaped flowers can last for a month. Butterflies and hummingbirds love these white bells. The flower spikes do not appear until the plants are five years old. Adam's Needle Yuccas are just as rugged as they look. They are heat, cold and drought tolerant and disease and insect-resistant. The plants have thick roots to store water, so the plants need little attention when it comes to watering. Once established, these are carefree perennials that may live for 60 or more years.
There was a video of a camper that pulled up to a spot where Eric had just left. The spot was covered in trash amd empty bottles. Kinda ironic considering the title of this video. 😮

I've been pondering this for several days and finally decided to comment/make a suggestion that I hope won't come across as a criticism. Assuming you have your buildings exactly where you want them it may be too late, but I would STRONGLY suggest having concrete pads laid down and tie down hardware installed on both buildings and the pads. Also, a large concrete pad for the RV, car, and trailer would be a good idea, I think. The reason I suggest the pads and tie downs for the buildings comes from seeing out buildings, loaded down with lawn mowers, motorcycles, etc., tossed across yards by high winds (not even tornado force winds, but close in some cases!). You have worked hard to get where you are today and seem to be very happy now and we out here in YT land want you to stay that way! Again, not a criticism and no offense intended, just a thought for your safety and that of you new home and property.

Not everyone is a handy man and yet not many people can get in front of a camera and share their lives. Life is give and take. I'm not a plumber either but if you know in your mind what you want to accomplish, you can piece similar parts together at the supply. When satisfied that will work for you, take it apart then purchase the parts you need. This is basic and works for many things that we come across when operating outside of our area of expertise. Multiple trips to supply is time consuming and wasteful. Also, if you have a bunch of small jobs, buy all the material for them and store them, that way when you feel like getting something done, you can just do it instead of starting from scratch and making a trip to supply. Keep common fittings, fasteners. lumber, pipe etc around because when things break and they always do you have most items to make repairs.
You can turn paper and cardboard into nice soil by shredding it and composting it. Put it in a pile and wet it down and toss some dirt on it. It's good for the environment. I love your base camp. Things are looking good.
Trash service? Now that is nice out on raw land areas. Some trash companies suck and only do paved roads. Your property is really looking nice. Got everything you need to survive. Electric, water, septic, house. Nice work Eric.
That looks like what's called ASTM 3034 sewer pipe which is a smaller OD. What you bought was a 4" Sch40 DWV fitting cleanout, fitting means it goes nside a fitting hub not over the pipe. Go back to Home Depot and get a sewer and drain 4" female adapter that will go over the pipe..(Take the outside dimention of your pipe with you to make sure). The sewer pipe is thinner than Sch 40 DWV pipe and a smaller dia. .....After thoughtYou just take the cap from the pipe!

Hey Eric, you'll need to get fittings for the sewer and drain instead of the regular schedule 40 PVC, they generally keep it out in the garden center for some reason instead of with the pipe. If you ask somebody at the big box store they'll be able to direct you to the fittings that will fit your sewer pipe without any additional pieces.
I know about country living, and have experienced what you show in this video. It is a wonderful feeling to have a trash company come to pick up your trash. Congratulation on all your wonderful experiences with having your own place. 🤩

You can’t do “whatever” you want. I’ve been looking into owning land and there are still laws for a lot of areas. I’ve seen stories of people getting cited for doing whatever they want on their own land. Gotta know the counties laws first and foremost. Or they can take away your “freedom” land. It suck’s but it’s how it is
Some desert plants like that one bloom at night 🌙 and only for very limited time. Migrating birds and bats love their flower nectar. Make sure and wash well after handling their flowers. Love the videos. Keep them coming!!
The plant is a Yucca. I’m not an expert on desert plants (being from western wa) but I think it’s pretty hardy. I don’t think it’s dying, the flowers only last for a day I’ve heard. I’d move it somewhere where it’s not in a high traffic area tho. Hugs for the furballs❤
Waste Management is a GREAT company! You can even call them and setup a time/day and they’ll come pick up all your larger items and other things the garbage truck can’t pickup. That’s included in your monthly also!
Yucca plant, and it doesn't require much water. When the flowers die, a new plant will come from the base and produce new flowers. It may not flower every year, but when it does, it's a pleasant addition to this beautiful plant. evergreen
Joint Compound is used to seal treaded connection. You will need PVC cement if you want to make a permeant connection with the RV adapter to the pipe. Your pipe in the ground is PVC Schedule 80, your adapter looks like Schedule 40 which is the wall thickness. Hope this might help a little.

Eric hopefully you haven’t cut the sewer pipe yet...take and pour a concrete pad around it make it 2 ft by 2ft pad sloped to the center just like the ones at camp grounds. It’ll make a nice sanitary area to do your business. Just saying. 👍

The plant is Yucca. The flowers are actually edible but you wouldn't like it lol it tastes a little like broccoli. Left on the plant the pettles will harden into a husk and the inside will become a cotton like fiber with seeds. Havest the seeds and you can grow more.
You seem really content and happy. Take a road trip every now and then to scratch that travel itch, but you seem to have made a solid investment in your future with this property. And friends nearby doesn’t hurt!
Yes, I enjoy the base camp videos. I always find how others are doing things or solving problems interesting and everyone can learn from each other. Eric. Whoa!..................Just pickup a 4" PVC coupling, cut the existing pipe to length add the coupling and your cleanout. But don't use pipe joint compound. That is primarily used for putting threaded steel pipes together. you need pvc glue and pvc primer. Use the primer to clean the pipe, coupling, and cleanout. Then put the glue on the pipe and add the coupling. Work quickly and hold it in place for about ten seconds. Then repeat with the cleanout fitting.
The plant is a Yucca plant. Google it if you ever want to move it? Some plants do well after they are moved. Some are fussy and they die if they are moved. Because they need the soil and light where it is. It’s a lovely plant.
You need a coupler for that sewer fitting. 4” to 4” coupler. Make sure it’s a male coupler because it’ll need to fit inside your fitting. Take your fitting to Lowe’s or Home Depot to make sure you’re getting the right one.

Eric, don't cut your sewer pipe so low to the ground. Also look into a ZEN Garden being high desert also will give you time as you rake it as well give you a spot to meditate. Calm and peace can't wait when you settle down more get your solar on the roofs. You will be busy building as well caring for a garden and why not make your own pizza oven.

I think what you're doing is really cool and I am looking forward to moving out there but it will be several years before that is even possible but watching you makes me really glad I bought an acre out there for retirement in 8 years or less. Also cool that you have trash pick up!
Plumbing sales person here. What you bought is a clean out adapter, which is designed to fit in the hub of a PVC fitting. You can use what you have if you buy a 4" coupling. What you needed was a female adapter with a threaded plug. Feel free to reach out any time you have a plumbing question. There is also a difference between schedule 20 also known as SND and schedule 40. Both 4 inches but use different fittings.
There is 4 inch PVC pipe that is used for interior plumbing in a home the line running out to a city sewer system. It is sized like regular pipe. There is another 4 inch PVC that is used for outdoor drainage and rainwater diversion. It is thinner walled and a slightly different size and is cheaper than the plumbing type PVC. It appears that your pipe sticking up out of the ground is the second type. You can purchase adapter couplings that will connect the 2 types together.
I use to have two in my front yard at my house in Phoenix looks like the Yucca Root Herb. They make the yellowish green flowers. If that's what I think it is you can boil the flowers for 15 minutes strain and you have a tea. 👍
My Grandparents always had those kinds of plants in their yard. Which was a homestead in West Texas. It’s called a Yucca shrub some are yucca trees. They look beautiful.
Check with your septic installer on dumping Rv black water. I believe it should be directly into septic tank to allow decomposition before liquid waste runs to the fingers. Dumping solid waste directly into fingers will result in filling them.
Love this video. It reminds me of the original homesteaders and their struggles to develop their properties that had power hookups and trash collection.

The fitting you have is Sch40. Your pipe is probably Class 200. Two different diameters on the same size pipe. Go to your plumbing supply store and they can help you.

A base camp helps you to start planning for your next road trip. Right now focus on working on the base camp. Since you have friends lving up the road as well as neighbor, you are not totally. In the latest Campervan Kevin video, you were working on the gravel for your roadway as well as some parts of the base Camp. Phoenix and Kevin have told about their willingness to help. So accept their offer of help. It will help to speed up the gravel for the driveway. Oddly your moods are changing since you came back to the base camp. Staying busy is one way of managing depression.
You, Kevin, Carolyn, and others who are homesteading have been great to watch and I admit I have learned a ton from all of you. I would love to be more of a snowbird, with part time in Idaho and part time in Arizona. From what I have seen of the Show Low area, it seems like the whole general area is good. I think you picked a great piece of property, Eric. I hope I am as lucky when I finally get around to getting mine.

You have what we call thin wall 4"drain pipe there in the ground. It should be the thicker wall schedule 40 pipe which is the threaded cap you are holding. Different pipe...
I gotta say I was almost entirely uninterested lately . Since around the time of his cruise. I’m back in now with these homestead type videos. I really like watching his property upgrades.
Eric, take your saw and cut off the top of the cap, leaving an open tube that you can then mate the two sections together with from the outside of the two pieces, instead of getting a separate piece to mate the two sections together from the inside!

Piping, plumbing, fire sprinklers as well as lawn sprinklers go by both inner and outer diameter measurements for the pipes. Inners and outies don't mix. Hope your underground isn't jerry rigged with a pipe that went on way too easy. You should be able to test it with some air pressure to see if it pops.

Eric what you need is 4 in coupler they do not make something to go snide the pipe the coupler goes on the outside so you can join to 4 in pipes and not restrict the flow of water.

Waste Management is the worst here should have gotten Wagon Wheel. I used to work for Waste Management here. During monsoon season and winter they stop picking up. Their trucks break down and I had to sit in the hot sun or cold for hours. That company is the worst here in the Show Low area.

Its a Yucca for sure. They bloom and in short time, the bloom dies off. Dont cut the die-off until its completely dried and crunchy. Waiting is good for the plant. Enjoy the diverse flora and fauna of AZ!
In your leach field, you could set it up as a outdoor living space, fire pit, a bar with shade like they on the beaches maybe even a gazebo. Plant some drought tolerant plant.
You need a conversion coupler for thin wall PVC to Schedule 40 PVC. HD and Lowe's should have it. Get the Conversion Coupler and your Male glue, female NPT end should go right together.
A Yucca plant if you cut off the flower head it may send up another one. A plant’s purpose is to produce seed (from flowers)if you cut the flowers it knows it hasn’t produced.😉🙏
As @blairmayo4513 has answered, the plant is a yucca. It can be beautiful, but the spikes will cause a nasty cut if you are not careful. Consider it's location, if it would be near any driveway or walkway. You may want to remove it (carefully) if it is in the roadway. The property is coming together. Hugs to you and the kitties.

Eric you could use your old cap to make a coupler for the new cap. The new cap should slip in the old cap. Just cut the end out of the old capto make it in to a short coupler
if you have a torch kit (for starting fires, or soldering),, try heating the top 3 inches of the pipe (after cut to length) until it gets limber and force the rv piece into it,,

You need a schedule 40 4 inch PVC coupling. Cut that schedule 20 stand pipe to desired height then glue(PVC Type) the Schedule 40 coupling to the schedule 20 stand pipe by sliding it over the schedule 20 pipe. Your new threaded fitting will slide into to schedule 40 coupling(glued). Get some loppers and cut that yucca at the base and pour FULL Strength weed killer on the main root. I've been fighting those things for years trying to get em off my property. They'll take your entire property over.
I have watched videos of foragers that eat the blooms. I have them growing everywhere on my property south of Fort Worth, Texas. I have tried to dig them up and even plow them. They have roots that seem to go to China and make it impossible to dig them up. They also make it almost impossible to mow the grass because there are hundreds of them. If I use my weedeater lawnmower they wrap around the bottom where the strings go and it takes about 30 minutes with pliers to get them out. If I run over them with the riding mower, they knock chunks out of the blades. You are so lucky not to have grass that needs mowed. Lol
Eric get pvc cleaner and glue. Not pipe joint compound. The compound is for joining threaded pipe to seal the threads so they don't leak. It will not glue the PVC.
If I were you, I would trim those trees up by 2-3 feet. Coyotes will use the current situation for cover to sneak up on you. You can also use the resulting wood later on for a campfire. Hopefully you will read this comment.

That a yucca tree, you have the flower that can be eaten and also the roots but they need to be clean a certain way because is poisenus. Flower taste like artichokes some are sweet look at bees they tell you which are sweet. And the pipe get a smaller pipe that fits.

Adams is not native to Arizona it's native in the South Eastern North America according to what I read wonder how it popped up in NE AZ.

You can’t do “whatever” you want. I’ve been looking into owning land and there are still laws for a lot of areas. I’ve seen stories of people getting cited for doing whatever they want on their own land. Gotta know the counties laws first and foremost. Or they can take away your “freedom” land. It suck’s but it’s how it is

Some desert plants like that one bloom at night 🌙 and only for very limited time. Migrating birds and bats love their flower nectar. Make sure and wash well after handling their flowers. Love the videos. Keep them coming!!
The plant is a Yucca.
I’m not an expert on desert plants (being from western wa) but I think it’s pretty hardy. I don’t think it’s dying, the flowers only last for a day I’ve heard.
I’d move it somewhere where it’s not in a high traffic area tho.

Waste Management is a GREAT company! You can even call them and setup a time/day and they’ll come pick up all your larger items and other things the garbage truck can’t pickup. That’s included in your monthly also!
Yucca plant, and it doesn't require much water.
When the flowers die, a new plant will come from the base and produce new flowers.
It may not flower every year, but when it does, it's a pleasant addition to this beautiful plant. evergreen
Joint Compound is used to seal treaded connection. You will need PVC cement if you want to make a permeant connection with the RV adapter to the pipe. Your pipe in the ground is PVC Schedule 80, your adapter looks like Schedule 40 which is the wall thickness. Hope this might help a little.

Eric hopefully you haven’t cut the sewer pipe yet...take and pour a concrete pad around it make it 2 ft by 2ft pad sloped to the center just like the ones at camp grounds. It’ll make a nice sanitary area to do your business. Just saying. 👍

The plant is Yucca. The flowers are actually edible but you wouldn't like it lol it tastes a little like broccoli. Left on the plant the pettles will harden into a husk and the inside will become a cotton like fiber with seeds. Havest the seeds and you can grow more.
You seem really content and happy. Take a road trip every now and then to scratch that travel itch, but you seem to have made a solid investment in your future with this property. And friends nearby doesn’t hurt!
Yes, I enjoy the base camp videos. I always find how others are doing things or solving problems interesting and everyone can learn from each other. As others have mentioned you don't have to travel always to make good videos. I could see how it may be more challenging to come up with ideas to film but I'll still watch no matter what. No worries. I don't know if you wrote a script for VPN or just done this so much for them you have the talking points memorized, but wow quite professional. (And I hate commercials! That is why I'm a premium You Tube member). Sorry plans with friends for the summer fell thru. It sounds like you miss the option the discovery of the open road afforded, but life can be dull. Still there are plenty of things to keep you busy around the house..

Eric. Whoa!..................Just pickup a 4" PVC coupling, cut the existing pipe to length add the coupling and your cleanout. But don't use pipe joint compound. That is primarily used for putting threaded steel pipes together. you need pvc glue and pvc primer. Use the primer to clean the pipe, coupling, and cleanout. Then put the glue on the pipe and add the coupling. Work quickly and hold it in place for about ten seconds. Then repeat with the cleanout fitting.
The plant is a Yucca plant. Google it if you ever want to move it? Some plants do well after they are moved. Some are fussy and they die if they are moved. Because they need the soil and light where it is. It’s a lovely plant.
You need a coupler for that sewer fitting. 4” to 4” coupler. Make sure it’s a male coupler because it’ll need to fit inside your fitting. Take your fitting to Lowe’s or Home Depot to make sure you’re getting the right one.
You should be able to get a 4" coupling that would slip over the pipe and the new cleanout cap would slip into the coupling
You need to invite some friends to come for a visit. Ask them to bring some tools and have a fixer up party !

Eric, don't cut your sewer pipe so low to the ground. Also look into a ZEN Garden being high desert also will give you time as you rake it as well give you a spot to meditate. Calm and peace can't wait when you settle down more get your solar on the roofs. You will be busy building as well caring for a garden and why not make your own pizza oven.

I think what you're doing is really cool and I am looking forward to moving out there but it will be several years before that is even possible but watching you makes me really glad I bought an acre out there for retirement in 8 years or less. Also cool that you have trash pick up!
Plumbing sales person here. What you bought is a clean out adapter, which is designed to fit in the hub of a PVC fitting. You can use what you have if you buy a 4" coupling. What you needed was a female adapter with a threaded plug. Feel free to reach out any time you have a plumbing question. There is also a difference between schedule 20 also known as SND and schedule 40. Both 4 inches but use different fittings.
There is 4 inch PVC pipe that is used for interior plumbing in a home the line running out to a city sewer system. It is sized like regular pipe. There is another 4 inch PVC that is used for outdoor drainage and rainwater diversion. It is thinner walled and a slightly different size and is cheaper than the plumbing type PVC. It appears that your pipe sticking up out of the ground is the second type.
You can purchase adapter couplings that will connect the 2 types together.
I use to have two in my front yard at my house in Phoenix looks like the Yucca Root Herb. They make the yellowish green flowers. If that's what I think it is you can boil the flowers for 15 minutes strain and you have a tea. 👍

My Grandparents always had those kinds of plants in their yard. Which was a homestead in West Texas. It’s called a Yucca shrub some are yucca trees. They look beautiful.
Check with your septic installer on dumping Rv black water. I believe it should be directly into septic tank to allow decomposition before liquid waste runs to the fingers. Dumping solid waste directly into fingers will result in filling them.

Yeah, make sure that pipe goes to the inlet of the septic tank and that it's not an access or cleanout for the pipe to the drain/leach field! ;)
Love this video. It reminds me of the original homesteaders and their struggles to develop their properties that had power hookups and trash collection.

The fitting you have is Sch40. Your pipe is probably Class 200. Two different diameters on the same size pipe. Go to your plumbing supply store and they can help you.
I ran into the same problem with the sewer dump piece.I was sold a rubber type clamp that wrapped around the two pieces.Worked perfectly,no leaks.

A base camp helps you to start planning for your next road trip. Right now focus on working on the base camp. Since you have friends lving up the road as well as neighbor, you are not totally. In the latest Campervan Kevin video, you were working on the gravel for your roadway as well as some parts of the base Camp. Phoenix and Kevin have told about their willingness to help. So accept their offer of help. It will help to speed up the gravel for the driveway.
Oddly your moods are changing since you came back to the base camp. Staying busy is one way of managing depression.

You, Kevin, Carolyn, and others who are homesteading have been great to watch and I admit I have learned a ton from all of you. I would love to be more of a snowbird, with part time in Idaho and part time in Arizona. From what I have seen of the Show Low area, it seems like the whole general area is good. I think you picked a great piece of property, Eric. I hope I am as lucky when I finally get around to getting mine.

You have what we call thin wall 4"drain pipe there in the ground. It should be the thicker wall schedule 40 pipe which is the threaded cap you are holding. Different pipe...

I believe that is a Yucca plant, and it does have a lovely blossom, which can last a few weeks. Re blooms every season.
Eric, take your saw and cut off the top of the cap, leaving an open tube that you can then mate the two sections together with from the outside of the two pieces, instead of getting a separate piece to mate the two sections together from the inside!

The plant is a Yuca plant. The flowers die out quickly. You may get another flush of flowers a bit later. You don’t really have to do anything. That’s the climate they like. You can water it once in a while .
It's yucca plant and the flower is called Izote. You can make Izote scramble eggs or Pupusas.
Piping, plumbing, fire sprinklers as well as lawn sprinklers go by both inner and outer diameter measurements for the pipes. Inners and outies don't mix. Hope your underground isn't jerry rigged with a pipe that went on way too easy. You should be able to test it with some air pressure to see if it pops.
When joining pvc. You not only need the sealant you need the cleaner/primer too. You want the pipe to be clean when putting the new cap on.

Eric what you need is 4 in coupler they do not make something to go snide the pipe the coupler goes on the outside so you can join to 4 in pipes and not restrict the flow of water.
You’re doing great. Your land is looking wonderful and it’s just going to get better! That’s not aloe, it’s a cactus of some kind and their blooms don’t typically last very long. Hopefully someone will know.
A little advice Eric, put a bungee cord on the lid for animals and the wind. It will save you a big headache in the future.

I also watch CVK and your other friend Amber. I am consideringnpurchasing some land in AZ (I live in depressing rainy Seattle) but I have never owned raw land so I have a lot to learn.
Waste Management is the worst here should have gotten Wagon Wheel. I used to work for Waste Management here. During monsoon season and winter they stop picking up. Their trucks break down and I had to sit in the hot sun or cold for hours. That company is the worst here in the Show Low area.

Its a Yucca for sure. They bloom and in short time, the bloom dies off. Dont cut the die-off until its completely dried and crunchy. Waiting is good for the plant. Enjoy the diverse flora and fauna of AZ!

HI, you need an 4'' to 4'' coupler, and you will not need a smaller pipe. It will be very easy, just at at the store, take care, keep having fun.

In your leach field, you could set it up as a outdoor living space, fire pit, a bar with shade like they on the beaches maybe even a gazebo. Plant some drought tolerant plant.
You need a conversion coupler for thin wall PVC to Schedule 40 PVC. HD and Lowe's should have it. Get the Conversion Coupler and your Male glue, female NPT end should go right together.
A Yucca plant if you cut off the flower head it may send up another one. A plant’s purpose is to produce seed (from flowers)if you cut the flowers it knows it hasn’t produced.😉🙏
As @blairmayo4513 has answered, the plant is a yucca. It can be beautiful, but the spikes will cause a nasty cut if you are not careful. Consider it's location, if it would be near any driveway or walkway. You may want to remove it (carefully) if it is in the roadway. The property is coming together. Hugs to you and the kitties.

Eric you could use your old cap to make a coupler for the new cap. The new cap should slip in the old cap. Just cut the end out of the old capto make it in to a short coupler
if you have a torch kit (for starting fires, or soldering),, try heating the top 3 inches of the pipe (after cut to length) until it gets limber and force the rv piece into it,,

You need a schedule 40 4 inch PVC coupling. Cut that schedule 20 stand pipe to desired height then glue(PVC Type) the Schedule 40 coupling to the schedule 20 stand pipe by sliding it over the schedule 20 pipe. Your new threaded fitting will slide into to schedule 40 coupling(glued). Get some loppers and cut that yucca at the base and pour FULL Strength weed killer on the main root. I've been fighting those things for years trying to get em off my property. They'll take your entire property over.
I have watched videos of foragers that eat the blooms.
I have them growing everywhere on my property south of Fort Worth, Texas. I have tried to dig them up and even plow them. They have roots that seem to go to China and make it impossible to dig them up. They also make it almost impossible to mow the grass because there are hundreds of them. If I use my weedeater lawnmower they wrap around the bottom where the strings go and it takes about 30 minutes with pliers to get them out. If I run over them with the riding mower, they knock chunks out of the blades. You are so lucky not to have grass that needs mowed. Lol
Eric get pvc cleaner and glue. Not pipe joint compound. The compound is for joining threaded pipe to seal the threads so they don't leak. It will not glue the PVC.
If I were you, I would trim those trees up by 2-3 feet. Coyotes will use the current situation for cover to sneak up on you. You can also use the resulting wood later on for a campfire. Hopefully you will read this comment.

That a yucca tree, you have the flower that can be eaten and also the roots but they need to be clean a certain way because is poisenus. Flower taste like artichokes some are sweet look at bees they tell you which are sweet. And the pipe get a smaller pipe that fits.

It is totally normal to sometimes feel lonely. But, have you thought about bringing another person into your life? It seems like you're in a transition. I'm sure being on the road is very exciting...I'm jealous...lol. Not my business but I would love to see you in a relationship with someone really special someone perfect for you and your lifestyle.
