No one else like you....Leonard Cohen! 'A thousand kisses deep' is one of the most beautiful songs ever written! I would love to hear this with you alone!
I have loved Leonard for almost 50 years he is irreplaceable. A true artist, he and Bob the greatest modern wordsmiths ever. Now i can look forward to the x factor karaoke Simon Cowell wannabes, great. As he said we are all just "passing through"
Such a wonderful gifted man . Leonard Cohen had such a rich baritone beautiful voice like no other. He could draw you into his emotions and feelings like no other . R.I.P
I've loved Leonard and his music since 1967 when I bought his first album. Now he is with the Lord of Song. Hallelujah! I will miss you more than words can express.
wonderful beautiful music from two of the best ever.... Greetings from IRELAND 😉 salamat for the memories. ...Judy and Leonard you are much loved here but you know that....
I'm not a fan of what she added to this. She should have come in at specific times not through out the entire tune. That's my preference. I'm here to hear Leonard, not her.
It was always comforting to know that, somewhere in the background, you could hear and enjoy voices sweet as those of Judy Collins, and meaningful and awesome of poets like Leonrard Cohen's. Now that hate is among us, dividing us, creating walls instead of roads, it will be very missed the times of your peace and your selfsearching. Cohen: you leave us to deal with hatred, and your words are, now, essental in this earth.
Dark times are upon us. I knew joy and optimism as a young man, and feel sorry for the young now - they will never know what we assumed was our birthright; they can't feel the loss of what they never had...
It is SOOOOO comforting to be able to come here, especially now, and be reassured that I am not alone in my feelings of hopelessness. I have to keep reminding myself that we cannot truly appreciate the light until we are coming out of total darkness. Our nation is entering darkness now, but we will emerge into the light again. Thank you all for posting.
Too bad you feel this way. Two of the finest songwriters and singers of the late 20th century. You are probably right about how little they rehearsed. It does not come across as a polished performance. But I think this is a positive.
I love it what a time, the wealth of great music, ideas, musicians and art. It is nostalgic to look back we another renaissance like that again. I listened to one song a stayed to listen to many more. Here to all you who shared this with me and all who may listen in the future
HARD TO BELIEVE LEONARD IS 42 HERE LOOKS SO YOUNG & INNOCENT STILL AN AMAZING VOICE AS USUAL. I'D KNOW HIS VOICE ANYWHERE LEONARD HAS THE MOST SOOTHING VOICE I'VE EVER HEARD LEONARD TRUE LADIES MAN BELATED BIRTHDAY WISHES 82YRS YOUNG 21ST SEPT 2016 LUV U FROM JACQUI XXXXXXX
Beautiful. So grateful to have seen you in concert, Leonard, in 2008 in Vancouver. What a wonderful night, and how gracious you were towards your fans and your band members. A real gentleman, and a real genius with words. Your music will live on, long after you are gone, and I am gone. Love you Leonard ! Judy Collins harmonized well with Leonard, in a different way than one usually hears it done, but superb.
my husband will be happy to hear this version he sent me Liaan Version. i see the original by Cohen alone as well...This is one of the nicest song ever....Sweet and Classic
I absolutely love the original recording of this song it really is one of my all time favorites. Mixed with Judy`s voice as others have said the harmony in this performance is straight from heaven. Very sorry to hear of your passing Sir, thank you so much for your gorgeous use of words and music, hope you are now with some of those you hold most dear:)
I'm not looking for another as I wander in my time Walk me to the corner, our steps will always rhyme You know my love goes with you as your love stays with me It's just the way it changes like the shoreline and the sea But let's not talk of love or chains and things we can't untie Your eyes are soft with sorrow Hey, that's no way to say goodbye... Rest in Peace, Mr.Cohen.
My brother has died, I shall miss you Leonard. I have lost a brother in spirit today, his name was Leonard Cohen. Since a child his music has always inspired me, it somehow reflected the way I felt and the message he sent in them was so very touching and he often made me cry. I loved him like a brother, though I never met him I shall regard him deeply. I will miss you Leonard, I cannot relate how much, I am deeply saddened at your death.
An awesome example of why spontaneous, live music is so REAL. Both of these 2 were truly enormous talents whose sales figures, in the USA, on a national scale, never quite demonstrated. Posting this was a great choice.
tgformrtambourineman 4 months ago love this, no electronics, pitch correction, ect both trying it get in sync with the duet and a little awkward at first. he takes off running, she pulls the reigns a little and waits for him a little and then they get dialed in. like a couple of old friends/lovers getting back together
Leonard Cohen - Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye I loved you in the morning, our kisses deep and warm, Your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm, Yes, many loved before us, I know that we are not new, In city and in forest they smiled like me and you, But now it's come to distances and both of us must try, Your eyes are soft with sorrow, Hey, that's no way to say goodbye. I'm not looking for another as I wander in my time, Walk me to the corner, our steps will always rhyme You know my love goes with you as your love stays with me, It's just the way it changes, like the shoreline and the sea, But let's not talk of love or chains and things we can't untie, Your eyes are soft with sorrow, Hey, that's no way to say goodbye. Beautiful. I was looking for a song to comfort me these past few days, and I just couldn't. For some reason, I was moved to hear the strings on Famous Blue Raincoat this morning, and it worked. It soothed the beast. I wasn't even aware at that point that you had passed. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your songs.
You have to be sad, as am I (I've been crying off and on for the last few days) but your sadness has to be measured against the incredible output of this fellow. He lived and he gave and he lived and he gave and kept coming back to give, and he did so up until his last album, which I haven't even heard yet. Many many people and groups have done his songs, some better than he could have done them. I doubt that he resented that. My fear though is that it's going to be a long time, probably longer than the time allotted to me, until somebody again comes to tie poetry and music into a reef knot.
I will not miss LC. I have his music and inspiration that will never fade. I cannot miss something that has become such a part of me. I so appreciate anyone who forces me to look deeper, especially when they don't know they are doing it.
graywyvern 2 years ago i watched this on tv when it first aired. i'm so glad to see & hear it again. this may be the most beautiful love song ever written. m.
Anthea Rutherford, Suzanne was my second, but the first one I knew as an LC song. I grew up listening to this one on a Judy Collins record my parents had ☺
C est beau comme une fin de fête Quand l ambiance revient lentement au calme Mes pulsations sont en baisse J aurai demain encore de nombreuses défaites Et je suis bien même si tu me laisses
FROM muizeekphanitic: Fantastic! What a delight to see both Judy and Leonard in their musical heyday, singing together with exquisite harmony. Having heard both of them (recorded separately by each), it was really nice to hear them do it together, live on stage. Interesting to know that Judy was a close friend of Leonard was helped expose him to the national stages and audiences. This is a really good tune that ranks up with the rest of his fine catalogue. Judy's voice always pretty. Thanks! A+

may Leonard Cohen live on in our hearts for ever. God bless you, Judy Collins.
Must be one of the best duets of all time.. The artists compliment each other and do not interfere with the other voice.
*complement
I've loved Leonard and his music since 1967 when I bought his first album. Now he is with the Lord of Song. Hallelujah! I will miss you more than words can express.
One of the best duets I have ever heard.Judy's voice is angelic.
Am I the only one who feels a little sad that TV cannot be like this anymore? Thank goodness for the preserved recordings.
Verdens Salt I've been looking at MTv and VH1 hoping for some sort of retrospective. Sadly they quit playing music ages ago.
Verdens Salt
Trina Simon Hullo.
I feel the same. Times have changed. Now - you'd have to listen to Rap-Crap.
So beautiful and painful. Thank you Leonard for the gift and the pleasure and thank you Judy for the inspiration and for allowing him in.
"Thats no way to say goodbye" But we all one day will have to.RIP .Thank you for sharing your life with us
I came to Leonard via my love for Judy. Thank you both. x
This just breaks my heart. Just having a cathartic cry. So perfect, so gracious, so truly lovely. Goodbye Leonard.
wonderful beautiful music from two of the best ever....
Greetings from IRELAND 😉 salamat for the memories. ...Judy and Leonard you are much loved here but you know that....
How many people in this decade can create and sing such pretty songs like this one? Not many. Bring back the prettiness we call music.
I saw Leonard in 1980 then again in 2009...two wonderful highlights of my life..truly. and seeing him with Judy...well what words would be enough?
This is the most beautiful but exquisitely sad songs I have ever heard.
I love you Leonard. The music world was blessed the day you were born. Be a long time before there is another talent like Mr Cohen.
going to see Judy Collins this past weekend at a small venue, she still sings beautifully , lovely and flowing music to listen too, meditative
Leonard Cohen born September 21, 1934.
Thanx for the wonderful songs.
Thank you Leonard for your talent that made the world a better place to live and appreciate.
Wonderful man his voice gets better with age ,love you Leonard X
OMG, Legend!!! Amazing talent. Doubt that we will ever see such talent anytime soon!!!!
beautiful with Judy's amazing harmonies, really changes the song even more beautiful
I'm not a fan of what she added to this. She should have come in at specific times not through out the entire tune. That's my preference. I'm here to hear Leonard, not her.
All this quibbling about how imperfect this performance is! It's sincerity and heart felt depth overrides, for me, any deficiencies in harmony.
Rest in peace now o wondrous poet Leonard Cohen.

Beautifully said.
So good to hear this again ....they make it sound so natural ..
+Jeannie Campbell It's actually not that great. I would say that they had not rehearsed this for even a second.
Which is why it sounds so natural
Too bad you feel this way. Two of the finest songwriters and singers of the late 20th century. You are probably right about how little they rehearsed. It does not come across as a polished performance. But I think this is a positive.

Your music lives forever within my flute.

I seen him play that year in Amsterdam what a concert
".. in a hotel room at Newport." "We sang it all night" If that had been anyone but Cohen those remarks would have sounded so innocent. LOL
Leonard Cohen - Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye

chorei ouvindo, sinto uma comoção tão grande com as letras e melodias de Cohen, como farpadas tristes de epifanias no coração.
One of Judy's often sung songs...written by Leonard.
I will not miss LC. I have his music and inspiration that will never fade. I cannot miss something that has become such a part of me. I so appreciate anyone who forces me to look deeper, especially when they don't know they are doing it.
Such a gift to us. Such a loss. Wonderful song.
Leonard is truly a gem....
Hey Leonard! That's no way to say goodbye! RIP :(

music from the heavens...
Thank you LC, for your beautiful lyrics and melodies.
Good journey, Sir.
brought more joy and tears together.
They sound so gorgeous together!
Love it, thanks for posting.
A bit of a rusty start but soon they hit the sweet spot where Judy's harmony vocal meshes with Leonard's plaintive vocal. Magic!
R.I.P Mr. Cohen.
Have known you for a long time and will miss you for a longer time. R.I.P Leonard and thank you. 😑
Miss you already, Leonard R.I.P
Thank you for everythink .....to see Mr. Cohen...
