Alonso learnt from the Atalanta defeat. Bayern basically played like how Atalanta played against them. Aggressive press. Everytime Leverkusen got the ball Bayern pressed and took it the ball away immediately. If Leverkusen played attacking football like they did against Atalanta they would've been destroyed.
they basically build a wall around the box. if leverkusen could have managed to string a few passes together, they could have been in the game. but bayern well set up. thats what you want when you play a high line. you need to be compact and win back the ball immediately.
Luckly for Leverkusen, Bayern's attacking four didnt have a good game. As a Bayern fan i am more than happy with the teams great defence and midfield. Should have been 0-0, but the two insane goals made it a bit interesting.

I dont see why people outrage so much about the Leverkusen performance. Just look where both teams come from. Leverkusen before that game alrdy received 9 goals and was looking very shaky defensively while Munich scored 19 goals or so in 4 games. With that in mind they HAD TO focus on defense and try to stabilize otherwise munich could have scored a ton of goals. COnsidering that I am actually quite impressed they defended so well and didnt expect them to be able to before the game.

Last season's dark horses are Girona and Leverkusen. This season Girona lost a lot of players, thus performed rather badly. But Leverkusen kept their players, yet haven't been playing as good as last season. Wonder why? 🤔
Leverkusen look horrible this season. Not only they struggled defensively in all their games, they lose possession too easy as well. For Bayern: They look dominant again, are well-structured off the ball and play way faster through the lines than last season. I‘m sure next week in Frankfurt, a place where they struggled a lot in recent years, their defense will be tested more.
