That's how he got the bankruptcy by finessing himself under the poverty line with fancy language. Edit: right after i commented you pointed at it. Though point still stands. He admits under oath to make 10 grand which is above the poverty line. If you wanna bend it in neon to make it clear. A millionaire can just raise their business expense to whatever amount he needs to in order to get his networth below the poverty line and now his poor. That's how DSP got away with it, he is using his business expense on his personal money after he already sub-tracked the 5k from his original income.
The idea that Phil makes six figures and comes out with $150 (excluding whatever's sitting in his paypal which, seeing as he's using that to top up his BoA account, can't be that great) is the best part. I think I counted about $97k in credits for that account and $128k going out so his Paypal account will be bleeding dry eventually.
OIC giving money to "spite the trolls" is the funniest thing. It's like a double-win for us. The reason we dislike phil getting money like this is because he's taking advantage of people, lying to them to make extra income he doesn't need. You'd think a mature adult with a business degree would've organized an S Corp some time ago. He could've paid himself as the CEO and paid far less taxes and also had his Corp hold the lease on his BMW. And when the sweaty man jpegs caught up to him, the corporation could've declared bankruptcy and not screwed himself.

The non-round numbers are likely from instant-withdrawing from PayPal. You pay 1% (up to a maximum of $10) of the amount of money you’re withdrawing. I used to do a ton of transactions through PayPal when I sold trading cards and they were always weird numbers like that. Has anyone ever attempted to anonymously tip the IRS off to any of this? You’re basically doing their job for them. If they were willing to look into his expenses at anything more than face-value they would definitely see something fishy going on here. If you came to this conclusion, an IRS auditor would likely come to the same one.
