Hey folks, I'm the buyer of this beauty and it's supposed to arrive this weekend. Once in hand, I'll post my comments - really looking forward to this classic! Stay tuned...
Totally love the old 80's DR's. I grew up having 2 different DR100's then had an SP125 and an SP200. 3 or 4 yrs ago grabbed my bud's childhood 88 DR100 he wanted gone. We had some times on that thing man, riding tripple on it(3 on the seat lol). I couldn't see it go to someone else,I'll hoard it for a while😄
@Shield Liger oh ya...I believe one of mine was an 87 and the other an 88 maybe? They were red w/blue seats and gold rims. Headlight, taillight, directionals etc. They were nice bikes back then.
@@JohnWilliams-fj7eo Awesome!! Lucky you. They are certainly hard to find,at least here in/around Mass. That's a great price, can't buy anything for $500 anymore. Was just scrolling Craigslist for a new toy, absolutely nothing lol. Enjoy that bike, summer's here!👍
@@yamaharaptor01able I just got it running I'm up in washington state and I love the bike. Need a few parts here and there but overall it's a solid unit
Jason Carskadon Too bad you didn’t visit a Suzuki dealer in 1987 or 88..you would’ve seen 15-20 DRs in all displacement sizes.lthese bikes didn’t sell well in my area.
@@eastsidebadger8416 yeah, I was 5 years old in 1988 and did really know what I was looking at then. But like in your area the xr Honda was more popular then the dr Suzuki around here.
I always love to see all the different obscure bikes we read about as teenagers in the cycle mags , but this is better we get to see them run instead of imagination we have a true time capsule. I still think you should round up bikes from each era and re do the shootouts , that would be solid gold.
Bought this exact bike off a guy down the street from me for 50 bucks two yrs ago. Needed work but looked pretty good overall. I wound up not having the time with bigger fish to fry and I sold it for 550 bucks without putting a dollar into it. I wish I kept it but I did sell it to a guy that refurbished bikes so hopefully it looks almost as good as this one now
Had a brand new1985 DR125S on my 17th Birthday. All my pals were going for RDs and RG two stroke road bikes, but I wanted a 4 stroke trail bike. Great bike, ran it for 2 years with just regular maintainence. 100% reliable. Wish I had one now.
I found one of these in the local bike pile in the junkyard beat to hell paid $20 bucks brought it home new plug gas carb clean n rebuilt started 2nd kick lol the things people toss away 👍 ive found many bikes in that pile
That brake light design on those bikes of that era was horrible. Go to roll it backwards in storage and the plastic lens would hit the wall before the rear tire usually cracking it.
@@chrishart8548 Never had an issue with the street bikes some of them were much further back but these dual sports I've had to bring out the red tape several times.
What's a decent replacement carb or a full rebuild? Ha e exact same year DR125 and can't get it to run right, idles lean but soons I touch throttle it runs instantly rich
That was one of my first bikes! That was an excellent bike and we beat the living shit out of it and nothing never once broke down! That was one of the best most reliable bikes I’ve ever had!
