Oh this so takes me back to my childhood. Our family went to St Ives every August. From the age of 1 to 19, I spent the happiest summers of my life here. I went again in 1987 and haven't been back since. I must remedy this. This lovely video of yours shows me the place hasn't changed. Brought a lump to my throat this did. Thank you so much.
I was in St.Ives in 1978.Had a great time and met some lovely people .I had quite a few drinks with a young chap who fished for lobster.I am a fairly big bloke but this lad was even bigger. His dad came down and picked him up in a Ford estate a cortina I think. He just sat in the boot area and conned out. One of great memories of a beautiful place. It was not as jam packed as times I see now.As I said lovely local people .Very warm and welcoming.I hope to return .
@@biscuitsalive Without doubt .O am only sorry I didn't visit well before 1978.It must have been a magical place and not over run by us tourists. We stayed in a lovely B n B up on the hill and had to park in a car park Nice stroll down the steps though.Different going home.Got burned to a crisp reading the Sunday papers one morning.
I am now too old to pay a visit to St.Ives where I was for a time evacuated in the second world war (Belmont Street) so Bless You for taking me around the dear old place again. Brian.
Glad it was a nice trip. :) Sorry to hear you won’t be back. There is a whole Cornwall playlist on my channel. Lots of vids there. (I will try to do a at ives specific one soon. As I have many videos just shot there.)
thank you so much ,i have had two knee replacements and this at the moment is the best i can manage, to be able to watch this ,after doing this for forty years is a joy .
Thanks David! really nice to hear that. Maybe check out my video ' sunrise i shot a few days ago, St Ives again, but in amazing light. th-cam.com/video/4lFk8KZufHc/w-d-xo.html Quite a few more St ives vids on my channel too. ( as i live nearby it in Hayle)
I'm going here in summer, I go every summer since I was like 2 and now I'm 9. I love the harbour and all the food they have there. I do live in England but far away from Cornwall. It's a beautiful sight to see, also I love the cottages you stay in. I can't wait to go again!
My wife and I are from the States and we travelled to St. Ives as part of UK Honeymoon. I can't tell you how much we are missing this part of England right now!!! Thanks for a great visit.
My late wife and I had the best holiday in St Ives in October 2015. We had it all planned to go again the same time the following year but it was not to be. The joy we had seeing this video when it came out and seeing the places we had been to the previous year was immense. It gave my wife and I a great boost in the last days she was in the hospital. Also the music captures the meandering feeling of the people who have been cut loose from the ties of a regular life for an all to brief moment.
Its more expensive to travel to Cornwall rather than Prague for example... that's what is killing UK tourism atm. I am just replicating what one of the B&Bs owner told me.
thanks very much for this. my wife and I will be in st ives this summer. our first visit to cornwall. we will definitely be following your footsteps, thanks again for sharing this wonderful place.
I’ve been to many places around the world but St. Ives holds a special place in my heart from my childhood and caravan holidays . When I hear a seagull I think of St. Ives and instinctively cover my chips 🍟
Well I tried, I ask Colin if I could go down there with some of my mates but he won't let me which is understandable, hope to go down there soon though x
Yes I can see why he would be hesitant to say yes to that ;).... Theres always cheap B+Bs, if its just you, your welcome to crash at ours for a night, but not much fun with a nearly 2 year old in the house... but if you get stuck and need a place you are of course welcome.
The Seabean Gallery thanks. You too. Also have a look at the video i put up last night. St Ives New Years Eve 2016/17 (Click on my name to go to my channel) It was an amazing show last night.
St ives is and always has been my favourite place in the uk. What a lovely film you had made. Calm music while walking around. I love it. Nice that there was no talking . Just relaxing. I shall watch this lots of times. Nice to have on while I am ironing. Lovely to hear sea and gulls . Thank you for sharing this it's really beautiful. 👍👌
Missing it so much ... I cast yours and Paul Dinning's videos onto my TV set from my mobile, and let them play all day just to keep that Cornish spirit in the air ... Tell St Ives and the people that I love them! 💔 💖 💓
Brought back memories of my first trip/stay there, almost a year ago for my 50th birthday; although I didn't walked up where the old church is. Was hoping to return this summer, due to current events, it may have to be 2021.
Thank you SOOOO much. Watching this is like being back in that lovely place.St Ives is one of my favourite places...wish I could live there.Adding the map was genius!
I really enjoyed watching walk through St Ives, it brought back many happy memories from when we used to go in the late 70s. If you ever get the time I would love to see the walk we used to do every day from Carbis Bay over the Railway walk bridge along the Coast into St Ives.
I'm looking forward to visit St Ives this summer and i really enjoyed watching this video.Good job and such a beautiful place, can't wait till summer. :) :)
Good to see those rollers on Porthmeor - I’ve surfed off that beach so many times in my teens and 20s. Haven’t been back for over 20 years, but aiming to remedy that next summer - great to see from your video that it’s still the beautiful place I remember
I walked the same walk this year. What made the day special was finding a fudge shop with rum and raisin fudge (i don't usually like fudge) just near the mountain warehouse near the end of your video (it was good stuff/strong).
Incredible video, another one of yours, I recommend the Bicycle riding vid of St. Ives you made, it’s also amazing - made me subscribe - keep em coming mate.
+biscuitsalive I've got the Olympus OM-D Em5 mk II, and with a Pana14-45mm lens, it does quite good job of stabilising video. Of course, I'd love a few £thousand for an electronic stabiliser (CameTV, Beholder), but I will have to to do slow pans and movements. I do have a Sevenoaks cam stabiliser but it's a pain to set up and use, plus the extra weight and transportation.
nice gran lives in loo,she used to live polperro, will be staying st ives september 2017 thanks ,will be paying her a visit shes getting on now love Cornwall "so much".
I love this-thank you! Hope to see more like this. I miss it so-I'm staring at the waves on Porthmeor, then walking down the Digey to Fore Street-- personally will walk down further to the Warren and Porthminster, etc. etc. St Ives, I don't know if I shall see you again!
+auntdj111 thanks! Yes I film in st.ives often. I think about 5 or 6 or more of my little films are shot there. (Don't live too far) I hope you enjoy them. :)
No, thank you. I really need to do this video again but with higher production quality. (That walk was my first practice with the stabiliser, so i wasn't trying very hard with the shots.) I will do a new updated one when we have perfect weather etc. :)
Figured this would appeal to older generations who maybe couldn't do the walk themselves anymore. Took off my cinematographers hat and allowed camera to auto everything. Never done that before.

It isn't England - its just occupied by the English. The Wall In Cornwall is a Saxon/English name for Foreigner like they named Wales.
Ninian Park it’s still part of England technically lmaoo
It's actually quite emotional watching this as I had many holidays there as a kid. Beautiful video.
Brilliant. Wiping tears from my eyes. Can’t be back there for quite some time. But this is beautiful, thank you for posting this x

its easy to forget we have things like this in the UK...

About how long did this walk take?
I did a similar walk in about an hour. But I'm quite fit and don't mind the hills 😁
I walked a beat as a constable in that town years ago.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a policeman walking the beat in Cornwall in my life. :)
