I'm a 30 year fan since the age of 14.. Seen Weller 20+ and am again next month.. I've obvsiouly heard the song many times but I have to admit.. until this interview, I never realised the song 'My Ever Changing Moods' had such incredible meaningful lyrics as this:
Teardrops turn to children who've never had the time
To commit the sins they pay for through another's evil mind
The love after the hate, the love we leave too late
The love after the hate, the love we leave too late
I wish we'd wake up one day, an' everyone feel moved
Oh, but we're caught up in the dailies
And an ever changing mood, yeah
Evil turns to statues and masses form a line
But I know which way I'd run to, if the choice was mine
The past is knowledge, the present our mistake
And the future we always leave too late
I wish we'd come to our senses and see there is no truth
In those who promote the confusion
For this ever changing mood, yeah

Evil turns to statues & masses form a line But I know which way I'd run to,if the choice was mine. Rather ironic as to whats been going on over the past 4 years

A very skillful Interview actually. He begins talking about seeing The Jam in 1982 ( I saw that tour in L.A.) Wellers answer “I don’t remember that at all. Pinfield then goes straight to 2024 & works backwards. He mentions all kinds of people Weller has worked with but never Foxton & Buckler. From Weller’s side he mentions Style Council songs by name but not The Jam. Once I saw Weller solo & a fan yelled out “Down in the Tubestation” Wellers answer “Ya Right”. It’s where he was at & where he still is. He does seem the happiest I’ve ever seen in over 40 + years of being a fan, that is a good thing. 😊

I think that you can tell Matt Pinfield is a fan as his questions don't come in any order As for Weller wether you like him or not he is still the rebel, still questioning things:-)

Like most 'rebels' nothing to say about the tyranny of 2020! Van Morrisson and Ian Brown on the other hand! Actual rebels.

To be fair anyone who’s a fan over such a long career would love to ask all those questions and The man did it so well.😊

A good interview but it is always a good idea to let the guest do most of the talking......

The Style Council were awful at the end. The Jam were genius. Some of his solo stuff ok

No shame to grab Rick and Bruce and suit up for global tour and have fun - that was what it is all supposed to be about.

Oh get over it. The Jam have been over for over 40 years. Move on, you tedious little human bowling ball.

It's tempting to blame Weller for all that tedious '90s Dad-rock a la Ocean Colour Scene etc, I have to remind myself it is not his fault..

    • @TheMusicalElitist
      @TheMusicalElitist หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Oh, Jeffy boy, you’ve really outdone yourself here. Blaming Paul Weller for the so-called ‘tedious 90s Dad-rock’-you must be kidding. Ocean Colour Scene were already making waves well before Weller’s involvement, crafting something you evidently don’t have the taste to understand. Moseley Shoals was one of the defining albums of the decade, moving more than a million copies, adored by anyone who knows good music. And let’s talk about Steve Cradock, shall we? Weller didn’t just stumble upon him; he handpicked him because Cradock is a guitar genius, the kind of musician Weller respects and values, and someone who’s still leagues above the dreck you’d likely hold in high regard.
So maybe the real issue here is that you just can’t stand that people love a band with actual grit, soul, and style. Ocean Colour Scene have earned their place in music history, while you’re just here throwing weak jabs out of what smells suspiciously like envy. Next time, try aiming your half-baked critiques somewhere else - some of us have musical taste.
