    That's a really nice spot. It's really cool that the nonprofit kids were respectful and quiet. Props to them. I'm sure your presence was something of a benchmark for them to aspire to. Respect ✊

    Taylor, I really appreciate that you talk to us as though you're talking to friends-- very natural chit chat. I like that you can admit when you're nervous and even tell us when there are things you DON'T like about a trail.or situation. It keeps it real, and helps me to learn from you.
    Please keep hiking and making videos. I have learned a lot from you! Thankyou.

    Me and my friend snowshoed to Ethan Pond in March of 97'. I was pulling a snow sled with all my gear. It was around 10 degrees F. Great trip!

    Ethan Pond is soo peaceful. My buddy and I stayed up there a few winters ago.
    And Thoreau falls might be the best hidden gem in the whites. At least from what I've been to so far. Nice to see these spots again after not being up there in awhile

    im so glad I found your chan. I lived in the MWV for over 25 years and just recently moved to mid-coast maine, so seeing those mountains, valleys and the beauty of my old stomping grounds is amazing and nostalgic for me, thank you! ( p.s. Most locals call it "Willie" like when you get the willies - supposedly thats where the saying actually came from due to the sad story of the Willey's and a massive mudslide/landslide in 1826)

    Beautiful trail! Glad to hear that the group was quiet and respectful. I know when I see a large group, I get a little leery that they may be loud, and it's hit or miss. I love the quiet of a solo trip!

    I went hiking with my Labrador retriever some years back and getting to the ladder section someone asked me how will your dog get up those ladders? Well, I hadn't thought about that so I had to pick up my 60 lb dog and take her up the ladders. Back down from my pack and return was quite the effort. That day was not a hike smarter not harder day.

  • @jeannenimmo5

    Hiked this area and those hills some years ago, before the ladders on the Willey Range Trail were there. It was kinda sketchy going up that grade and there were few options when I got near the top - had to jump over to a small 'ledge; from the top of that grade. There were also, at that time, some serious 'widow-makers' along that same trail, before the ladders. And, by the way, it's usually pronounced Willey - as in silly. Nice video. Thanks for sharing, but I'm not completely certain what sort of a 'loop' you did(which trails). I'm guessing you went from the Willey Range Trail turning left on the A - Z Trail, turned left on the AT and continued past the junction that leads to the Zealand Falls Hut, hiking below and past Whitewall, ending up at the campsite. Unfortunately, I'm too damned old to hike/backpack any more - sure do miss it.

    Hmm.. I’m at the point in my hiking life that I prefer to avoid the trails you like.. The shame is that many trails that don’t end at a peak you can post about on Facebook are in danger of going extinct.. there’s even a section of the AT that skirts around Madison that feels like it’s being reclaimed by the krumholtz.

    Thanks for the content. That looked like a vey peaceful hike. I feel like I recognized the narrow bridge or whatever it is called from a previous video though there are probably miles of that. Living in Alaska, I'm terrified of bears, especially hiking alone. Luckily y'all don't have grizzlies, but it's the black bears I'm really worried about. I hate the weight, but could never do these without bear spray!

    • @SmithFarmTilton
      @SmithFarmTilton 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At least here in NH, the black bears are generally harmless, and prefer not to be bothered. If you come face to face with one, they will head in the other direction. Two exceptions are a mother with cubs, or if they feel challenged while eating.... then you do your best to avoid them. Most people don't bother with bear spray in these parts, because it generally isn't needed.
