I have both of these mics and I just LOVE them! Got them on sale from JZ Mics. If you want a good deal on them, wait for one of their sales and you can get a couple microphones for a phenomenal price! JZ Mics Rock!
I just ordered a V67 on sale and it’s en route. I think it and the Amethyst sound phenomenal in the demo videos. After ordering I got nervous about quality issues, the company has had a tumultuous time of it last decade (basically other companies were making the same mics in Latvia.. lawsuits, messiness). The core designs are fantastic though so it’s nice to hear your recent experience was positive. Fingers crossed that I love it when it arrives 🤞🤞🤞
I have a JZ V67 on the way. I was torn between it and the Amethyst. They have the same capsule but the Amethyst has a little less high frequency info. It sounds phenomenal on your spoken voice. But for my purposes and the current mics I own, I felt the 67 would serve me better (can always cut some highs with EQ). Excited for it and hoping it delivers what I want :)
JZ Amethyst Sounds warm and round compared to blackhole. Blackhole is a little bright and cab used on instruments the needs that shine where as Amethyst is a much round sounding microphone.
The BH2 looks like I can use its stand as anal beats. Sounds like the better deal to me. Kidding aside, thank you for the video. I am really interested in the brand. Cool designs that sounds killer, sign me up baby!

The Black Hole seems to be more round. Actually I have been working with one of these back in the day. I really loved it.
I just ordered both of them for voice applications during the JZ Black Friday sale :) - both are incredible versatile and sound great.

Black one is crispier, but I think the low end on the silver one is more pleasing in general
The Black hole sounded a little scooped which was really nice on the drums. The Amethyst was more natural on the stringed instuments to my ears.

Sibilants are out of control with Black Hole mic, i don't think any kind of de-essing can fix that it sounds so weird. But sounds good on instruments.
