    12:00 It really depends on how children are taught. For example, I don't think that girl took your plate because she is a girl but because you are guest. If you were guest at my house, I would probably do the same thing, and I'm an boy.

    All the stuff that you're talking about, the behavior and traditions in family, are from your little town/village, old folk home experiences. Things differ a lot in other places and situations. You will rarely find that sort of traditions in Belgrade and in the medium/bigger cities.

    Also, on people complaining about what you said about women, you have worded it in a sort of wrong manner that it sounds like they wait for men to eat and finish and then go for leftovers. Sure we have a lot of ladies who are mothering everyone, especially older, grandmothering everyone, but if we are to talk about tradition, everyone is supposed to sit together and do such stuff together... which we no longer quite do because modern way of life took the time away, but the point is - they ARE catering to your every need so ''religiously'' precisely because you are a foreigner, keep that in mind :)

    About iPhone. I think there are few stores in Belgrade, I'm sure i saw one somewhere(don't ask where) but it is not poppular here. It is great but to expencive thing. For lot less money you can buy Samsung with Android, or something like that. Basicly, I know none from here with iPhone.

    Never eat honey with iron spoons,use plastic or wooden ones,honey looses it's most valuable minerals when it comes in contact with iron...

    • @ilovesrbija
      @ilovesrbija  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wonder if that's really true??? I've heard a lot of Serbians tell me that.

    • @vasapianocovers6331
      @vasapianocovers6331 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Charles Cather acids in honey can decompose copper and iron and produce toxic salts ,but the amount of salts released are not really dangerous,you won't experience any kind of health problems,so don't worry,the honey ,nor the all the minerals fade away,but generally,it is healthier if you use wood or plastic :D

    • @ilovesrbija
      @ilovesrbija  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @arakim72
      @arakim72 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which are these minerals and how do they react with iron so they only partially disappear? Right after that, there were no longer minerals but now the acids break down the iron and produce toxic salts. But these toxic salts now do not endanger health and are irrelevant and we should not worry about them...Are you aware of how foolish and illogical things you have said in just two sentences? Can you name any of these salts? Try Google if you're not sure.

    I think that the eating thing is not true. I mean, Serbia is one of the places where women are ABSOLUTELY respected and equal. I don't know where you saw that girls wait for men to finish lucnh or so...I have never saw or heard of that...Btw, the video is great and absolutely true :) keep going!

    Btw. bre, don't underestimate and ignore my beautiful, and rich in culture, western Serbia! My town has it all, in a surrounding of 300 meters, we have 3 swimming pools, a sports center (gym, a hall for all kinds of types of sport), a tennis pitch, football pitch, a cinema, and many pubs! It's a oasis for people interested in recreational sports, cycling, hiking, or for people that are just interested to relax in a slow paced western Serbian lifestyle. And yes, I almost forgot, we make the best rakija's! :D Here's a video of my idyllic town from a bird's eye view Sajam sljiva Osecina 2013 snimanje iz vazduha

    Like i replied Charles to a comment bellow,sir you have made a mistake we dont eat like that always its when you are a guest in some1's house because woman is a foundation of every family in Serbia we love our women and 99% of Serbians have the utmost respect for their wifes mothers sisters.Its just coz they are much better at those things then most Serbian men are.You have to think twice before you say something like that coz ppl like Flori&Valentina in the comment bellow might think that we oppress our women.

    • @GdarkWoW
      @GdarkWoW 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well thats the problem we dont eat separated i dont know where he got that :D i dont knowa single family that does it in Serbia

    • @ilovesrbija
      @ilovesrbija  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never mentioned any sort of oppression of women! I am discussing the differences that I have noticed by traveling ALL OVER SERBIA and living in Sremska Mitrovica, Nis, Pancevo, Zrenjanin, etc and eating at different homes all over this country! The VAST MAJORITY of the homes that made me lunch had the granny sitting back waiting for us to finish. It was just different from what I am used to. She can see for herself! When someone asks you to answer questions, you usually go by what you see first hand. I wasn't saying that you are like Muslims that don't intermix. I was saying how the ladies are always up adding food to the table, etc till we were finished. I have probably eaten in a more diverse amount of Serbian homes than you have. I have had dinners in 10+ homes in Pirot, Prokuplje, Sicevo, Ragodes, 10+ in Nis, Vranje, 5+ in Krusevac, 50+ Zrenjanin, 5+ Elimer, Etcka, Melinci, 10+ in Sremska Mitrovica, Kotez, 50+ Belgrade, 10+ Pancevo, and I could go on and on.... where do you live?

    But this is very logical if you know historical-background of the story why these unwritten and untold rules existed in our society. That is a tradition which women's founded. It's sad story but after Serbo-Turkish, or Serbian liberation wars, Serbs fought some Balkan war and then happened WW I. 60% of male population in their best reproductive years was lost and 25% of total population just after WW I, who knows how much in those Balkan liberation war and WW II, because we was directly hit by much stronger enemies, two biggest empires in those times in Europe, and even Nazi Germany, but we won with the help of our allies at the end, only God knows how. So, that's habit which women start practising, doing everything for the men, husband even her male kids, like cleaning, cooking, and not just wifes. And that became part of the tradition, people forgot why they're doing it, it became tradition, and usually mothers taught their daughters how to be with their husbands. Those Serbian gals, which were lucky to get married usually had many children, for example my grandma had 8 brothers and sisters. Last few generations does get their "traditions" only from TV shows and commercials, they're so brainwashed, so many girls today for example don't like to eat in front of other people. It's sick.
