- Here on the ranch, we start our two year old colts in January. This colt needs a name. If I pick your name, I will send a Rotor Recoil cap.

My name choice is Clay's Blaze. I used part of his sires name to connect back to him and the colt has such an outstanding blaze on his face it's the first thing you notice on him. Beautiful colt. He understands your training well. I like that you train with another horse in the ring. A horse understands and is more comfortable with another horse in attendance. What a smart looking colt, great stamp. He was real sharp on change of rein so I go for Quick Fire as his sire was Reloaded. Bit of a mouthful as a stable name though.

Ruby’s Last Cat
Wow that took me back 55 years, dad had a few mares but the colts were just big grade horses for working cattle. Thanks for the videos. We used to ranch in the Great Sandhills in Saskatchewan ( a lot like the hills in Nebraska where the original cattlemen came from). No helicopters but we used an 85 hp Champ to chase cows and shoot coyotes ( landing miles from anywhere in ranch country in mid winter and skinning them could be interesting at times).

Look at the highlights in his tail...blonde on red...he is so pretty.....like a rich burgandy kissed by the sun. This is so interesting. What a fun life working and playing with these beautiful animals. Can't wait to hear what he names him.

I would call him Chicobee Buck, for one, he's got the mystical power of water. Chicopee River is located in beautiful Massachusetts but Chicobee just popped out of my mouth not knowing there is a Chicopee River.
Buck, he is a tough young Buck cause he heard you say you might cut him but he turned right around and surprised you under the saddle. ChicobeBuck because he's mystical smart and tough.

Your videos are so interesting!! This was some kind of colt starting.. must be the Texas way... No messing around..This is NOT how it's done here "back east". I like your way..this is a pad,this is a saddle ,this is a girth tightening.. now run along little buddy. This end result would take days and days of "desensitizing" before an actual 1st ride around here..it is a big huge production around here to start a colt..And he looked totally fine and fit as a little fiddle and not a bit stressed after his initiation to what his future looks like.....And by the way , he is drop-dead gorgeous...Well done!!
