- In this Fishing Challenge I take you guys with me to Walmart with a budget of $100! Rod/Reel, Lures, etc had to be purchased all within the $100 budget. Does Walmart have quality gear? We then take our new gear out to test it in the waters and see if we can catch some fish!

I have used and currently still use the quantum pulse it’s a great reel for a cheap price I haven’t had any issues with it

the black max is actually a really good reel. i use it on a regular along with other pretty expensive setups. yes that is how reliable it is. However, just a tip, after about a year or so you would need to start to grease it more often to keep it in good shape. The low profile part of the real reduces backlash and for a cheap price the reel is amazing. I got it 5 years ago and it still works perfectly.

I have a Black Max baitcaster rod and reel that I got off of eBay for $59.99 and the VERY first time I used it the top half of the rod broke where it meets the bottom half and flew off into the lake with my brand new lure. I wanted to go fishing and all I had was $10 in my pocket, my Black Max reel and half of the rod, so I went to Walmart and bought an $8 baitcaster rod and I was in business one mo gin!

The Abu Garcia black max is a fantastic reel and the combo is even better.My first baitcaster was a black max and i still have and use it.
I bought a Lews high speed bearings for $69 and some hooks, 10lbs line, and baits. The total was $79 dollers

A walmart fishing challenge where the only "challenge" is the budget (ex: $100) is not a challenge, it's just shopping for lures/rods/ect before you go fishing. xD
Ya gotta add some special restrictions to make it worth calling a challenge, for example $100 but you cannot buy any fishing tackle or rods, gotta make your own stuff from other products like a broom/rope/ect and maybe create your own alternative hook.
You are exactly right. And Mike is the master of doing a 'challenge' but then deriving from the original plan. I don't know how many times, he fails to catch anything with what he bought then automatically switches to some other baits or gear lol. I wish he'd do a better job sucking to the challenges.
For example, 1 rod, when that kid does some kind of challenge, he's sticking with it, no matter what. If he has to stay out till night too complete it, he will.
But my man First State, he's not like that at all.

I have the black max spinning and bait caster. Love them both so much. You really can’t beat them for the price. I recommend the bait caster as a first bait caster. Very forgiving and holds up well after 2 seasons still going strong.

facts bro. my rod was 20 dollars and my reel was 10. and i have like 20-30 dollars worth of bait and i don’t even use most of it. you don’t need the most expensive stuff.
Lol same I got a cheap bait caster like 40 dollars and a rod like 10-15 dollars and I have like 35 dollars worth of tackle lol. I can even keep it under 30 dollars. Dock demon mini rod, blood worms, hooks and wheights I should. Lol. This challenge wouldn’t be a challenge 😂

I’ve noticed that wal-marts and kmarts that are in an ocean, river or lake town, they have good fishing isle for being a wal mart or kmart

The rods are solid, the reels in the combo aren't very good, in my experience they break pretty easy
@@FirstStateFishing Haha, i was fishing with the combo and the bail screw fell out. Wasnt the reel's fault...but after that i made sure to screw every other screw in tight. Reel worked like a charm for the rest of the trip...but i feel like that reel can vary in performance with different people. Caught a nice bass on it.

Yes I use the quatum reel it's my main reel. Put drag on Max and put the other part on free or 0. That sucker cast far.
I’ve used Quantum reels they are pretty decent they and smooth cast and retrieve and nice control on the cast

I have one of the huge rods they work awesome just make sure there are no trees otherwise the rod gets stuck and the line too.

bass king 08 carp aren’t really the best fish to eat because they are really hard to actually fillet because their bones and ribs are really thick and their meat isn’t exactly the best. Much better options to eat when it comes to fish meat quality

I’ve had a quantum pulse for 2 years going on 3 years it was my first bait caster I ever bought and used and I’ve never had an issue besides the little screw to keep the guide for the spool came lose and it came out for the track took 20 seconds to tighten up and in all honesty it’s better than some of the resent Lewis and abu Garcia baitcasters

i have the quantum pulse on a medium action berkleys rod and i agree works well for small jigs jerkbaits lipless crankbaits squarebills n soft plastics

@@Mavgaming_1 Yeah they can get pricey, Tell you what I dont know how good they're new rods are but i have a 2015 version bass pro shops tourney special baitcasting rod and although the baitcaster pretty much sucked espiecally after having the pro max the rod has caught everything from a small rock bass to a 6 pound bass and a 25 in walleye and its been ran over and bumped into and scraped against more stuff then you can imagine. So for a rod maybe check one of those out, I have seen some reviews about the newer one cutting line since there are no ceramic inserts.

I work in the fishing section of an outdoor store. Those Abu Garcia Black Max are pretty hot sellers for the money. The next one is the Abu Garcia Silver Max.
That $20 ish ugly stick combo is actually not that bad I had mine for about 3 years till it got stuck and I couldn't bring back on the plane home but the reel still works and it works great
