I hope they haven't turned the *Mist* into a story about a biochemical hallucinogen developed by the military. It really seems to be playing that way, so far.
It's kind of giving me the feel of an old movie: "Impulse". I think it was about a chemical that the military tested on a small mid-western town, that made everyone go nuts.
See I thought the same thing until the end of episode 3. Spoiler warning ahead. The moth that entered the man's ear at the end of the episode is more than a hallucination. How? The people inside the church with no contact with the mist see this transformation as well. A user commented that the monsters in this iteration may be parasitic and evolve over the course of their lives, mutating rapidly in a host until they reach maturity.
I like how they're hinting at the existence of the monsters in the episodes so far. just hoping it doesn't end up with the monsters being something that we know is there but we never see them, maybe show us them a few times, but never "they are out there, but we can't see them" idea
a moth or some insect flew into some dude's ear and than a moment later giant insect wings bursted out of his back and he died. Maybe that's going to be the origins of the monsters in this version. That the mist gives the insects/animal world "power" to "evolve" into more dangerous being, this could also explain why we don't see any monsters yet, because they "evolve". Just a thought/theory.
Look, I get that they're trying to slowly build up to this "ooh creepy unseen monster reveal oooooh" but they just made it waaaay too slow, people are tapping out since they kind of went Walking Dead season 2: too few monsters, too much dialogue and very obviously setting up a reveal later on. That's just a terrible idea, especially in the first episodes :/ though I love these videos, I like how you add some humour and flair to such a grim and dark show.
well i like that from episode 1 we started answering relevant questions for the story. if more questions arise about where the mist is coming from then i would actually watch the show lol
well, there seems to be something supernatural, episode 3 had the giant moth wings coming out of that dude's back, but the showrunners said, they didn't want it to be "monster show". But I'm sure we will get to see some monsters. I atleast want the show to confirm, yes there are indeed giant monster the size of 30 meter building...
JUst had to say, who now watches a movie or tv show , doesn't get any of it and just thinks , i'll just wait until Foundflix makes a video about it :). The Mist does have this "people are the really monsters" and that the creatures are just like our bugs, but huge and from another dimension. The Mist is itself just a part of the dimension. The creatures don't need it to survive. The short story used it to explain why the creatures were so reliant on a sense of smell. They seemed to prefer being in it, but they didn't need to. Also, the mist never really "leaked" into buildings. The pharmacy got fucked because of the spiders, not the mist itself. With the grocery stores in both the story and the movie, when the huge window got busted, only creatures came in. Once they sealed it, everything was alright. Back garage door opened? Fine, except for the tentacles. In the story, the tentacles was cut off and still moved around when the door was shut. Also, people were killed as soon as that mist rolled in for both the story and the movie. It didn't matter who it was, if you couldn't get in a car, you were eaten in a few minutes. Well, the movie ignored some of it for that ending, but in the original shit that King wrote, everyone died pretty quickly. The mist was just to handicap sight, not cause hallucinations.
Hey Bro i just wanted to point out something that is very important! If you look very close at the death scene of Mrs Carmody on her hips in a frame you can see a lobster hand. I think that it is very possible that the monsters will appear from this scene
This probably will never happen seeing how the show is going, but what if the mist takes the characters greatest fears and turns them into monsters. So the longer they survived the bugs or apparitions would become scarier and more grotesque.
The whole bit with Clint and Eve didn't make any sense. He wanted to kill her because she heard him call to Arrowhead? But if he didn't want anyone to know that why not just volunteer to go for the radio alone? It seemed like they wanted wanted to shoehorn in a bit of action and drama and didn't care if it made any sense.
i hope this show gets better and more fast paced because the pacing is kind of dragging and i know it's early in the season but i wish the show would speed up and not be so boring and dragging like it is now
Okay, for all the people here who, maybe watched the movie like it was Jurassic Park: The focus of Mist is not the monsters, this is not Godzilla, it's a story about people getting trapped in places by the unknow, it doesn't matter what the unkown is, what it matter is that it kill's them, and that it build's fear into them, The Mist is about tension, is about relationships, if you want your monsters, just go watch The Thing, Or Alien. Understand, it doesn't matter what kill's, what it matters is the impacts that it brings to those involved into it,"Oh but in the movie", sir just go read the Book, then come here again and try saying that the focus is in the monster, because if you are saying that, i'm 100% sure you did not bother to read the book. Also for god's sake, this is a series, not a 1 hours movie, It has like 8+ hours screen time, they gotta use it in a smart way somehow, so if the show get it's high point from the start and people just quit afterwards, it has to be the other way, the cool stuff later, so it will bring people back, to watch even the boring parts. And don't say other series don't have, because every siingle serie has a boring part.
the book was more of exploring human nature in desperate situations not so much about tensión or relationship (thou it includes those themes in the book) and there are better ways to portay them than the tv series has done so far, the movie did it great in my opinión, the tv series thou is failing at doing so... hell they got a fantastic oportunity with the death of an essential character in the book and movie on the first chapter they could have shown a little of some monster in the second chapter to hype ppl even more, cus c'mon a shadowy figure and a scream will not do it in this circumstance. And last but not least the tone they are given to the show its just ridiculous, the mist was never ever about inner personal fear it was about a lovecraftian type of horror, discovering and dealing with the fact that humans despite our great achivements as a whole are insignificant compared to the unknow that's out there far beyond our understanding. I will wait for at least 5 maybe 6 chapters not for them to show any monsters but to show a real progresion in the story, if they fail ill drop it sadly cus i was hyped when the announcement for this series came, i wanted to see how they could expand the themes of the book... time will tell.
