I saw their 1st live show in October. For a brand new band they were tight, really good. This song and their previous single "Evolve" were in the set. An album of the Oct. show is coming in March, and on Dec. 20 they're releasing a mini-album with five of the songs. Considering all genres (especially if you include jazz/jazz-fusion, not to mention classical) there can't be another country with so many 1st-rate female musicians
Each of the member is amazingly talented. They're indeed a new super group. Akane the vocalist can reach high notes with full power without using falsetto. Please react to their 1st video, "Evolve ~Extended Version".
This is a new supergroup! Most of the members have day jobs, so it’s not clear this is more than a project, but we’ll see. The hook? This is a metal band built around a violinist. To top it off, she plays a custom five-string violin. I’d say that qualifies as metal. Violin: Ayasa (currently with Morphonica) Guitar: Yuki (founder and co-lead in D-Drive) Bass: Wakazaemon (bassist with Marty Friedman and other projects) Drums: Mizuki (x Lonesome Blue) Vocals: Akane Minato (x Predia, several other groups) Two songs posted to date, huge potential! Since you are exploring new stuff, here is more stuff from Japan: Japan has had an active all-girl metal scene since at least 1981. This is a starter list of all-female (or in eight cases, mixed gender) metal, punk, hard-rock and post-rock bands, with founding dates where I know them. It's alphabetical, except for the first three, which are at the top of the list for historical reasons. They set the table for the explosion of Japanese female hard-rock, punk and metal bands. Note: I have tried to pick clips that are high quality and are representative of the band's style. If you put the question out there, you are likely to get suggestions mainly for Band-Maid, Babymetal, Lovebites, Nemophila, Unlucky Morpheus and Wagakki Band. You can’t go wrong with any of those, but find time to check out more of the bands on this list. They are all worth the time and deserve the love, and many will really surprise you. My personal favorites include Asterism, Bridear, Doll$Boxx, existTtrace, Hagane, Hanabie, Mary’s Blood, Sokoninaru and Tricot. Ok, the list: Show-Ya (1981 The original female J-metal band, founded before Metallica-this is from their 24th (!) anniversary concert-and they are still touring) They have a strong Deep Purple vibe, and in my view they belong in any rock or music hall of fame: “I am the Storm” th-cam.com/video/oJ_5Gv3vFjQ/w-d-xo.html Shonen Knife (1981 The world’s first bubblegum punk band. They have done several world tours, and opened for Nirvana, who were big fans. Did a 14 city US tour in 2022 that sold out 48 hours after being listed, and a 2023 global 10th anniversary tour. 2nd song from this new band. Looks like they have a music video premiering on Tuesday. This is pretty good, the bass is the standout in this for me. Their first song, Evolve Extended Version, I like more .
Loved it. All members are great been following the guitarist Yuki (from D-Drive) for afew years now, she is so goof. But as you say what really grabbed my attention was the bass coming from Wakazaemon, so good. She is the touring bassist for Marty Friedman not long finished a tour with him, and I have heard she is currently involved in the recording of a new album from him
You touched on something important: As crazy as so many Japanese guitarists are, on a "wins above replacement" basis (to use a sports metaphor), where Japan kicks butt is their phenomenal depth at drums and bass.
Members of East of Eden: Guitar: Yuki from D Drive. Bass: Wakazaemon, who's been Marty Friedman's bassist and has played live with Koiai (Lisa X & Hazuki). Drums: Mizuki, from Lonesome Blue. Vocals: Minato Akane, from J Pop group Predia, also was singer in Mochi to Cheese (w Akane and Kanami of Band Maid). Violinist and Creator: Ayasa of Morfonica also known for the song "Kokuhaku No Yoru" The invisible "6th member" is Mao who also has done much work Lovebites and Lonesome Blue.
Nice reaction👍. Vocalist Akane Minato(ex predia) was in an 5 member acoustic band, Mochi to Cheese, with Kanami and Akane of Band-Maid. Unlucky Morphious is another band with a violinist, Jill. They describe their sound as "technical melodic speed metal". Definitely worth a look.👍👍🤘🤘🤘
This is only the second song and video to be released by East Of Eden. The first song, Evolve (Extended Version), was released this past August and the mv is fantastic. I have watched videos of many Japanese all female bands but only five had me hooked the first time I saw them - Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, Hanabie and, most recently, East of Eden. Miyako, however, had plenty of songwriting experience and has not cowritten with Mao. I also want to add my vote to the group, Unlucky Morpheus, with the violinist Jill and my favorite Japanese vocalist Fuki. I suggest their live performance of Black Pentagram - th-cam.com/video/RUiRlUGMTwY/w-d-xo.html Last, I strongly recommend the band Doll$Boxx, a project of Fuki of Unlucky Morpheus, and the core four of Gacharic Spin, being Koga (bass), Hana (drums, guitar), Reona (keyboards) and Tomo-zo (guitar). Their music video for the song is highly entertaining as well as being a great song - th-cam.com/video/mu2z4Uf9Tgc/w-d-xo.html Enjoy!

Ya. Kansas. I've listened to most of what they have up and I sometimes think they're channeling Kansas. That's a good thing.
