Good deal. Can’t find many top pair RHDmen out there, and they all cost at LEAST that much. Term is a bit long but the caps gonna keep rising, so the cap Percentage will stay good or get better.
He's only 26, this is a good deal. There will not be a defenceman on the Canucks making more than Hughes

Marner is *NOT* good when it *MATTERS*
Yet out of the core 4, he is the top playoffs points producer for the Leafs. If any Leafs player is not good when it matters, it’s Matthews…notice how much better the Leafs played when he was out of the lineup against Boston? I’d rather have a player getting pissed off on the bench than a player who can’t play because his tummy hurts.

If they can sign Myers for between $2.5 million to $3 million it is about the same as they were paying for the two of them that they did last year.
Myers is a RHD and 34 years old who unsurprisingly played his best hockey in a contract year. Plus its his final year to get a front loaded contract. No way in hell he settles for 2.5-3mil at this point in his career when other teams will offer 4-6mil aav

@@Canadian_nomaD I agree, but 2.5 to 3 mil per is not bad. We will have to see who goes crazy at the start of free agency.
Marner is an elite regular season player, but how big of a package is a team going to give up, for an undersized winger that wants a raise on his 11 million salary? Especially considering he is ineffective at crunch time/playoffs. I also assume marner might only agree to go to certain teams, which will further handcuff the leafs. It will be interesting to see how this plays out
means nothing for myers. Z depends on carolina. either we trade for necas and keep Z or we wait for july and chase guentzel.
Trading for necas I think is gone out the window with signing Hronek

Glad we signed him, but I hope this doesn't mean that we cant sign everyone else that we need to sign. I want to see them sign Zadorov, and maybe Myers for a short term $3 million deal. Please don't bring back Ian Cole.

utah hockey club has 51million $ (including LTIR candidates) cap space - if they want to make a splash (with all that available money) why not steal Stamkos away from the lightning, sign the UFA veteran to a ridonculous contract that nobody else can match (i'm talkin' 15+ mill/per, bub), & make him the face of their "new" (*re-located) franchise, & captain of the team (until he retires, which will be soon)
I think 10m gets Stamkos, than go sign Guentzel Pesce Walker Bertuzzi Zadorov Marchesault and Reinhardt and you got a cup contender.
Why would they overpay so much for an ineffective player in the playoffs? 15 million could get them Guentzel and Zadorov in free agency in lieu of Marner. Your take is insane, unless the Utah gm is an absolute 🤡

ineffective would be throwing big money around - when you have big money to throw around/more money than any other team - & you want to make a statement & grow the brand in your new hockey market [salt lake city]; a brand new brand/new hockey team with it's 1st bonafide hockey superstar/captain in the twilight of his career as he goes out on top?...you don't understand marketing
