    The state to private school ratio is still soooo disproportionate. Only about 8% of the UK goes to private schools, so why are 40% of Bristol private school students? Smh

      This isn't even taking into account people who come from highly selective grammar schools that disproportionately have fewer working-class students. Students may choose to move from private to a state sixth form as well, further complicating the statistics. 40% sounds very high and would make me question if I would fit in well or not.

    I totally agree with the drug part! Drugs are everywhere not just in Bristol. I have this teacher in my school who graduated from Bristol, and people think he takes drugs, just because he went there.

    • @nicole_veronica

      Yes drugs are everywhere and not necessarily uni/city specific, I feel the media and city portrayal has definitely played a massive part in how people perceive Bristol as being druggy I.e. skins

    Hey! I'm thinking about doing an exchange at Uni of Bristol, but haven't quite decided. Could you give me some info about how the overall community is? (would it be easy to make friends there?) And I was also wondering how difficult the classes are, and if they are more discussion-based or favour an independent learning style?
    Thanks for your help, love the videos!

    • @nicole_veronica
      @nicole_veronica  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Chantal! Thank you so much for your message, I am glad you like my videos. So exciting that you are considering Bristol for your exchange! In terms of the overall I think it’s a very enriching and vibrate community with lots happening. In my opinion, if you look in the right places you definitely can make friends, there are so many opportunities to do so especially being part of the academic community whilst studying. In terms of class difficult it is extremely varied and I cannot give you a generalised answer due to this. It really depends on the course and the units you take, as well as your work ethic. But there are so many support services to help you if you are studying and need that bit of extra support. I really hope this helped! Don’t hesitate to ask me anymore questions or anything. All the best x

Will it be difficult to make friends and keep up with the course as i am more interested in drama and other cultural activities?

      Hello Ronit, thank you for your comment. Coming to Bristol will be very different and take adjusting to however it’s doable and the university can help support you through a number of avenues. I recommend Bristol as I’m very bias due to having a positive experience here, however it really depends on you personally and knowing yourself. Whether or not moving to a different country would affect your studies for example, or if you would get home sick? In terms of activities such as drama and the arts we have a plethora of different societies to get involved in and you definitely will not get bored if you come. Hey, I’ve just found your channel and I was wandering how to actually pay for uni, i know tuition fee is fine because it’s a tax after i graduate, but what i don’t understand is maintenance loan. So both my parents are pharmacists meaning their income makes me eligible for around £3k a year, which is lower than the cheaper accommodations. I’m a bit confused as to how i will sustain myself and i know parents have to pay the remainder but we live in London, they have debts and i have 4 younger siblings at home so they can’t afford to cover the costs. So basically I’m really confused how i will be able to afford to live, im not eligible for any bursary and i was wondering if maintenance is the only way I’m expected to live or do the gov give more money yeah im just so confused. Im in year 12 btw

    • @nicole_veronica
      @nicole_veronica  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! One of my good friends studies
      history at Bristol and this is what he said: Well I don't have much to compare to but I would say that the department is really good and that there's a good diversity in specialists (ie : there's a lot of options on what you want to study, be it medieval, modern, cultural, political etc). The only thing I'm not really fond of is the exam format as it basically forces you to cram. Otherwise there's a huge liberty in doing what you're interested in which is the biggest plus (ex: I literally only did 20th century politics stuff) - hope this helps!

    • @jazza9559
      @jazza9559 4 ปีที่แล้ว
