Keep the canon! The fans deserve it and plus Brad and the team did an amazing job creating this universe that a reboot isn’t needed.
The worst thing they could do would be to discard the existing canon, it'd be such a waste and also a massive turn off for the existing audience.😢
Thank you David and team for cleaning up my question in a presentable way, and thank you to Joe for answering it.
Thank you for being cool with my tweaking! I always want to include as many folks as I can even if I have to adjust it for the convo we are having.
@@DialtheGate Actually, I really appreciated your cleanup. It was very cool to be able to have a question read and get a response. With the text limit I wasn't able to ask the entire question the way I wanted to - your version was closer than what I typed out.
My buddy and I were just watching a season 4 SG-1 episode last night, one of my favorites - Window of Opportunity. At one point during that episode Daniel Jackson drops a book on the table that claims to have been authored by Joe Mallozzi. Nice little Easter Egg.
26:57 ya, they have a lot of contempt for their audience (us). and it shows xD
Loved Dark Matter!
48:58 - Because unlike *a lot* of modern fandom, they can seperate their own identity/personality/tastes from a television show. When people watch Breaking Bad and find themselves rooting for Walter White vs Tuco or Gus, they're more than likely not thinking "Wait why do I like Walter White when I don't like criminals in real life?" because it's a TV show, you root for the main character vs what are seemingly worse characters. People need to seperate their personal identity and political belief's/views from TV, cinema and video games far more often than they currently do.
Love the destiny clock!
always great to hear from Mallozzi 👍
joseph is a legend
Yes, it would be so bad! Keep the Canon!!! At least bring back Carter, Sheppard, McKay, Jackson, Teal'c.
And Mitchell!
I'll admit something Joe said is confusing to me: he said the industry is in dire straits in Canada but the industry has long been producing in Canada. Everything I watch lately (new and old) seems to have been filmed or is filming in Canada (Vancouver and Montreal). So how can the Canadian industry be in dire straits?
The only thing I can think what he might mean is the industry in Canada is very insular/nepotistic so the same people get the work over and over based on who they know. Otherwise I don't know, like Amanda Tapping for instance has been working non-stop as a producer/director in Canada for the last few decades now. She's even working on a couple of the newest shows on now and upcoming and never seems to be short of work. Most of what's either US or US/Canadian co-productions film there. So...I don't get it. Am I missing something?
14:12 "one of the things that worries me, is that's it's gonna be less Stargate and just some other dark scifi series that will just feel like more of the same" 👍👍👍 couldn't agree more. it's one of the reasons i don't want them to make a new Stargate series, we know what it would be: they will make it miserable, moapie and dingy (like BattleStarGalactica, Star Trek Discovers/Picard, or Stargate Universe). also these lazy b*stards don't wanna work xD a season will be 8 episodes xD. they won't do 20 40min episodes
Woolsey is low key the best character in all three series.
As for what's next, make what can be made.
cant just wipe out all the history. That man sitting there and Brad Wright should be making new stargate anything else wont be Stargate
If they do a reboot I'll be done with Stargate. I've already gave up on Star Trek. I was a fan of Star Trek from 1972 ( thats when i first remembered seeing it. I was 4 years old) until the last couple of series. There is no sense in rebooting Stargate. It has years of great cannon, I'm talking about SG1 and Atlantis. Them shows were amazing.
I watched Fallout on Amazon and I must say that 8 episode seasons SUCK!!! Joseph and the other writers kicked ass writing episodes.
As far as what was being said near the beginning, I think as long as they stick to the Stargate way of doing things and don't hire the woke (I hate that word) writers and producers and go the way of Trek and Wars, it will be just fine.
yep; i don't like the word either, it no longer means social progress, today it's just a cult.
if they hired the old crew they could pay them triple of what they got back in the day, or more; and still come in halfway under budget, all whilst producing the show we all actually want.
advocating for resetting the cannon is the quickest way to get me to not watch your show again.; its 1000% taking it too far.
100% agree. A skilled writers room will be able to start a fresh story that gets new viewers in without shitting all over canon.
@@bettybeee yeah and leverage the previous cast in supporting roles as much as possible for the first season or 3.
Gotta have jack in the pilot at a minimum. Hopefully he gets to go through the gate with Jackson one last time.
How come they never used any Indian mythology but they used nearly every other countries mythologies?
I think Nirti was supposed to be an Indian goddess? Her outfit was definitely Indian.
@@ilurvemv I thought Nirti was middle eastern on the outskirts of Egypt? But I would have loved to have seen an 8 armed Cali goddess of destruction wouldn't you? they missed out on a great bad guy there.
@@Dr-xj6ty There are no middle eastern gods - they never believed in polytheism. Nirti is definitely Indian/Hindu (I could tell from her clothes and her bindi, the red dot Hindu women wear on their foreheads). I know because I'm Indian (but not Hindu)
@@ilurvemv I was responding to the outfit she was wearing as the post eluded to not mythical God's however there were plenty of evil women from the middle east and north east Africa.
AI is just and advanced tool. I use it in graphic design and video editing all the time. Just look at the monster machines used to dig ditches. Those holes in the ground use to be dug by people with shovels. I'm sure at the time they also cried about losing that awful job. Also, no offence to writers, but writing these days on most shows is just awful. 10% of Star Trek Discovery's writing is amazing. Another 10% is average at best, the other 80% could probably just be cut out of the show, just terrible stuff.
You tried to reset canon with origins, which was just awful, so your opinion is invalid. Don't reboot, don't go woke, just go with what we know.
If Origins followed the exact storyline, it would have been awesome
@CrustyCowboy I found it to be a completely unnecessary and contradictory show. If it followed the canon storylines, it wouldn't exist, let alone be awesome. If it's in any way canon, it completely contradicts SG-1, SG-A, and SG-U because they only managed to activate the Gate once (when poor Ernest went through) in canon prior to the events of the film. Catherine had never gone through the Gate, and they had never been to Abydos before the film. Ra would've known about the Tau'ri before the events of the film, and he wouldn't have waited so long to do something about us pesky humans. Even with the internal struggle between the system lords, he would've done something instead of sitting on that knowledge for 40+ years. Unless Catherine and everybody else suffered some kind of memory loss, the show makes 0 sense. Whoever came up with the idea should've smacked themselves repeatedly in the face with a brick wall instead of putting pen to paper, let alone proceeding with the production. MGM should be ashamed of themselves for their involvement. I struggled to watch it. I laughed too hard at the bad acting and contradictory to canon storylines.
the danger of autoloving every comment is that you'll inevitably love some antiwoke goofball
@CielBlanche the danger of replying to my comment is that you'll prove you're an idiot.
