Well sung, Stairwell Carollers. You have a beautiful blend and clearly a good conductor who trained you very well. Very often, the carol is rattled off at a pace, with no nuances whatsoever, so your version is most refreshing. Neil (ex Chapel Royal Choir, St James Palace and St Paul´s Cathedral, London)
@@StairwellCarollersOfficial A pleasure. And to you. And just to reiterate - I usually prefer carols on the faster side, but the varying pace and the pauses absolutely make this performance. Superb.
Nicely sung, but I MUCH prefer your other version of this, the R. R. Terry version, "Myn Lyking". I thought that version was going to be on your "O Magnum Mysterium" CD (it states so in the notes to your beautiful "Myn Lyking" TH-cam clip!). Now I'm disappointed that "I Saw a Maiden" has apparently been chosen instead. What a shame, there's no comparison; your "Myn Lyking" is far superior, and I ordered the CD expecting that version of this carol to be on there.
+Ulex Xane So sorry for that confusion! It was supposed to be on Magnum Mysterium, but Pierre made a decision to substitute the other piece and I missed that it had been promised on the video notes. It will be on the next cd for 2018. I've changed the video notes to reflect that. If you contact us at info at stairwellcarollers dot com we can send you an MP3 of the live concert recording Pierre used to make the video. PS I assume you approve of Pierre's a cappella version 😊
