Genuinely even being a digital artist myself if it weren't for you looking so closely and not in full speed of the original video I would have never noticed that they were faking. That is by far the most detailed and effort out into faking I've ever seen. Smart on the scammers part though
Same here! Even with Rin saying “this is suss” I was like “maybe it’s a layer thing or something?” But the demonstration shows it without a doubt! It’s like they’ve taken that “outline on a canvas to completed artwork” transition, but using it to trick people.
YES. I actually got bamboozled from ylanast but once i rlly thought ylanast's art and speedpaints were too good to b true. So glad i got this video in my recommendations
Fr I never even noticed the suspicious things in their videos like a magically appearing ear
Not really. I felt there was something suss about her paintings and I even asked her to show the full process of the painting on the story. She even collaborated with other suss "artists" about a universal art gift giveaway which is basically a scam and that made me even more sure that she's a scammer, but I didn't have any proof. I'm so glad I saw this video on my recommendation page
Assuming they created the artwork themselves... There's one explanation why they might fake it and do this painting over the finished piece then fake painting with the eraser. It makes them seem more skilled if they are seen to be getting the perfect stroke on first try. In reality, as traditional or digital artists we know is takes many many corrections to get the final result we're happy with.
"they're faker than the sense of freedom of our modern world"
Damn, why is this hitting hard

Because is real 😔
I have been fooled by someone like them. Luckily I'm a poor college student so I couldn't waste money on brushes or courses but the internet really has become just scam central
many brushes they sell are actually stolen from other artist who put them out in sets for little money or even for free. so you can get the brushes if you still want them. many are quite useful. not needed but fun to play around with
Tbh if you dive down and look at all the nook and crannies (brush settings and stuff), you realised that all of them are using variations of the rounds brushes.
In fact all professional artists uses variation of the round brushes, it's all about the setting + skill and techniques to bend the brush to your will. And boom, you got your own custom brush that fits exactly how you want it to be.
Krita has some good ass brushes in my experience also it's free.
I made a video about her course. She deletes comments on instagram so only way is to share it tru youtube. ART COMMUNITY NEEDS TO KNOW and not buy this
There’s almost no difference between the stock brushes and the ones these fakers steal and sell. The only brushes I’ve ever purchased were $0.99 and it was a uniquely designed pencil/graphite set of brushes & I really wanted them. I didn’t need them.
No wonder that people accuse me of ''cheating'' when I draw digital art....... this just make the reputation among artists just worse..
As another person who uses digital If anything, save your sketches! Or even take photos of them, create a separate layer for said photo, and put it under all of the final rendering layers! Maybe don't forget to take some work In progress pictures too!
Yes I always have the sketch/work in progress layers saved ^_^ And in procreate I have the video. Still some people think digital art is cheating like they think you create an artwork with a single stroke or add a filter. But I think mostly those people dont understand the progress at all. Like sketch, base color and so on. @@Tenshii_Artii

Lol thanks for exposing them. I unfortunately paid money to their Patreon once before realizing it was a cashgrab (and that feels like a generous word). There was hardly anything there - their insta reels were more detailed/complete than their Patreon contents which is the opposite of what was promised. I canceled immediately but it was such a waste of money (luckily back then it was only a few dollars... not these multi-hundred dollar 'courses' 😬).
Damn, hope you get your money back
I remember someone long ago said they were a scammer, also nixeu too is suspected of doing something similar, she used to trace and scam people of hundreds of dollars by photo bashing art commissions…her ylanast are imo at the top in realism art….it’s sad
Me too, but patreon didn’t cancel or i didn’t do it well so i kept paying her for like 3 or 4 months without knowing, i felt so stupid

I paid back when you could still get a refund from Patreon(idk if it’s still a thing) which I am glad that happened. I found the same videos on her TH-cam channel lmao
I've seen this person on instagram a while ago. I tried to replicate their process because I couldn't believe that this shit actually works and I'm quite skilled in drawing realism. Spoiler alert, it doesn't. There's definitely some foul play here. 💀
i was learning to draw realism portrait but grayscale a few weeks ago and tried to follow processes like this and it's insanely hard, almost impossible lmao. i could render 8 times faster if i were to paint over guidelines of where the eyes/nose/mouth was and just observing the reference
Same I tried to replicate their process 6months ago it instead made my drawings uglier I thought I was just not skilled enough
I've seen tutorials on realism and they don't just go straight to color they start with the values, this ylanast is just so infuriating with her selling her fake tutorials... very scummy thing to do
@@enjoieart3058 I understand that a lot of people like to use a greyscale process to find values (I assume this is what you mean), but that alone isn't suspicious so please don't accuse people of faking their art because they start with colours lmao. As a traditional artist that is just how we paint haha, I don't see why it would be any different in a digital medium
Omg I tried too! Yep, doesn't work

yay!
Rin, I wanted to correct that the "Original" image at 13:31 is AI. The image was generated based on a 3D Black Widow model made by Anh Trần, which is on his Artstation. So this person stole an already stolen art 😵
Ohhh makes sense why I couldn’t find the original artist. Thank you for clarifying!
Stealception
Yeah, I was looking at that picture in the thumbnail thinking it was AI art.
This is so weird for this style of art specifically. I'm not an artist, but a while back I followed a tutorial for a realistic portrait and it came out decently. Sure it took several hours, but I'm sure if I put in the time to practice it would be quicker with better results. It almost seems like more effort to fake it like this than to actually paint it haha
That was just what I was thinking. Faking it is WAY more work, why doing it in the first place?
They don't care about the results they care about the money. Those videos are for marketing to get people to believe they're not a scam and get customers. But they don't care about the art or process itself
More effort as to what? Scammers don't go behind experienced people but rather beginners or who hv absolutely no idea.
It's easier to fool them than to sit down whole day and tediously work on improving your art for 10yrs.
Their aim is to earn quick money and not to become an artist.
its to get people to buy into their scam
its definitely not more work 😅 ive been on and off drawing for years and theres been times i tried for realism, i simply dont have the patience to work on something for hours and hours. stealing the art just cuts that process. and then making it look like they are drawing seemed to go pretty fast based on what rin showed, just a bit of getting used to perhaps

This is so upsetting. Scamming and getting a lot of money from making fake art while real artists out here with legit timelapse, struggling to get even one commission a month. I'm hungry everyday and this fool right here makes money with a freaking eraser.
Let's not forget about AI artists, who put even less effort into it. One even had the audacity to tell me "Sorry you feel that way" when I wrote that its stolen art and that they should credit the artist at least.
It truly is upsetting how they get away with it and become hugely successful from stepping on others. Oh and let's not forget that when you call them out on their scam or behavior , their followers rush to their aid to crucify you for daring to speak ill of their queen / king 😬
It's almost scary how people worship their internet idols to the point of excluding all reason or crime.

tbh as someone who does freestyle (no sketch) digital realistic paintings sometimes, that totally fooled me, including the "using a dark color as the beggining of the eye socket during the beggining" part (though i use a shadow, not black), so im glad that u called them out.
i used to really admire their art when i first saw it, and did find it believable as long as the person had been drawing for a long time and focused on mastering the specific skill of realistic digital painting for years, but eventually it became boring because it was just the same realism over and over with no interesting composition, lighting or subject matter, and barely any diversity.
it sucks that they got so famous, over actual realism and semi-realism digital artists :/

I think the reason a lot of artists aren't fans of purely realistic art is because a lot of it is purely skill based and has no transformative elements. Perfectly replicating a photograph is an impressive show of skill, but it contains to transformative elements to share ideas, thoughts or views on certain topics. I also think some of us get bitter about more abstract art being put down while realistic art gets praised by certain parts of the general public when they're two very different things
realism has different styles why do artist act like every realistic looking portrait looks the same, I don't know how to paint like yizheng ke, he paints very impressionistic.
on another note , im convinced the disdain for realism is the reason illustrators think they can copy photographers work 😍, because photography is usually grounded in reality( humans as a subject doing normal activities)they love to steal without crediting photographers and then cry when AI do the same.
(yes I know it's not the exact same but you get the idea, copying the overall art direction of a photo and then not crediting at all, they would never do this to another illustrator because they know better )
and another another note lol
fine art is not popular in this generation at all, like the artist that have followers do Disney or anime so I don't understand why ppl act like stylized art doesn't get appreciation from mainstream ppl / the ordinary person scrolling online. or like as if there is a pressure to draw realistic looking landscapes. I feel like I'm all over the place but I had to get it out 🤣
@@taeminisbae I never said realism looks the same, I said realism was a show of technical ability. And that technical ability is usually praised by the /general public/ (not a specific generation) over more abstract art. The phrase "I/a child could paint that" comes to mind. As far as illustrators hating on realism doesn't really hold water imo, as I work as a freelance medical illustrator so I am literally an illustrator who creates realistic works. In fact, as said in my original comment, I don't think illustrators/artists hate realism or people who work in this style more so express frustration at realism being praised over more abstract art styles and forms. As far as artists stealing photographers work I genuinely have knowledge of this but I'd assume the same rules to art theft apply there, to copy is to steal and to be inspired is to be transformative. And for people in whatever generation preferring anime/animated art styles, those styles are universally appealing that's why studios use them. Older generations probably also prefer looking at cute cartoons or realistic landscapes then a Rothko. My comment was talking realistic art versus abstract art and recreation of imagery versus transformative ideas. I think realistic art restricts people from representing ideas and reaching out to an audience, but is often more technically challenging than an abstract work. And abstract work has the ability to commicate ideas and feelings to the audience but is often less technically difficult.
@@taeminisbaeconsider the membrane of illustration
@@stardoogalaxie9314 I kinda skimmed over the abstract art part, i was a bit annoyed lol but I do agree with you non artist and fellow artist look down on abstract art cus anyone can make a few splashes on a canvas but I feel like those ppl need to understand that art that is easy isn't inherently bad. It's okay if ppl don't like it but they don't need to be rude about it.
Also I don't know if a agree with transformative art part. Sometimes illustrators use the same framing, the same pose, same set design/location, make up and hair as the photo. like the only thing that is truly different is that one is a photo and one is a painting.
I don't like it when illustrators copy all of it and act like they didn't basically copy another artist vision. they do it all the time to xiuxiukong 😒, like at least mention the photographer, what's so hard about it. but I guess that's not what you mean by transformative but I see illustrators doing what I'm describing and acting as if its fine because they took it from a photo... it's giving I don't see value in photography and I don't see photographers as fellow artist but as public domain for my reference🤢
I know this isn't the point of your original text but it annoys me soooo much.
All the artists who hate on realism usually can’t do it. They’re just salty for no reason and feel the need to yell at people about how drawing a cartoon that takes 5 minutes or 20 tops is actually way more difficult than all styles of realism which is just a lie. I’m sure some cartoon artworks are more difficult than some random realism artwork and vice versa. Don’t put one art style down just to make your tiny ego a bit bigger.
I love realism, but I fell into that trap when I first started and months later im still trying to find my style 😢
realism isn't so much the problem but using realism just to copy paste pictures on the internet makes you art lack a sense of personality and artistic expression. Realism done right can be gorgeous
@@davidkonevky7372 oh 100% I agree with you! I guess what I meant was that my brain told me realism should not include personal flare, because I’m trying to be photo-accurate. Still trying to find my style but as I push my experimentation in semi realistic art I see more and more unique qualities in what I produce!
All art styles have their place. I think some of the reason artists (mainly online) say that is because growing up they enjoyed stylized art and some art teachers or parents would think low of that; I think the adults assume stylized = art style for kids, and realism = maturity.
Now the pendulum has swung. Stylized = has meaning; shows emotion; is soullful etc. Realism = stiff; soulless; not creative;
no emotion; uninmaginative etc
There is the internet community and it's opinions and then there is the irl artists community and their own opinions.
I believe it's similar to how people scoff at abstract art or performance art. Maybe art history and the different styles need to be taught.
Find what inspires you, look up the art history of the style you like, do some studies. Also enjoy the process, your art will evolve. That's the fun part
i’ve been hate following her for a few years now and it never ceases to amaze me how OBVIOUS she is

first also unrelated but...RIN LOOKS SO PRETTY HERE TODAY!!!!!AAA
i love the this era of Rin growing as a certified art tea channel
Agree with everything apart from when you said artists shouldn’t have paid courses. Teaching is a major source of income for skilled artists, especially professional artists, and they deserve to be paid if they’re putting together a course to teach others. Not everyone can put everything on TH-cam for free. Schoolism, CGMA, New Master’s Academy, etc all offer courses from reputable artists
same. I've paid for art courses from artists and 10/10 highly recommend it. Especially when many will give 1 on 1 critiques and responses, makes them way more intuitive and helpful than reading tutorials lol
Find artists who truly know what they're doing and are good at teaching. However there are wonderful artists who give out free resources.
I dont think you get what she mean, she meant if what they do isn't real, how do you know if what they teach is real? and they sell it at high price with fake advertisement, because thats why they upload their content, to sell an overprice course with more brushes than you would ever need for drawing protaits.
And im sorry if there is a better free course, then people should go to that. as artist have necesities, people learning have too.

I just came from hate-scrolling ylanast's account after watching your video and it took a while because there are a looooooot of videos where it has become painfully and cringeworthily obvious that she has been using an eraser as her *brush* of choice. It made me madder each time I saw a video of the same techinque. Even more so when it was a rehash/ repost.
This is a scammer through and through no doubt. The most creative use of it I found was when she would do the monochrome videos where she would turn the colors black and white on the ipad and make a gorgeously rendered drawing. If that doesn't sell, I don't know what does.
I went alllll the way down to her first few posts where I must admit, she actually has some artistic skill with traditional sketching and watercolor. However, when she made the jump to digital early on, I saw that she was already trying to perfect the method of erasing layers as if she were rendering. @eiririn, I wish you could make a part 2 about this because it really is damaging on the art community the fact that she is followed by actual artists who actually properly use and showcase their artistic skills.
Crazy… I consider myself at a high skill level drawing faces and I simply couldn’t comprehend how she was doing it. It didn’t seem real, now this clears that up! Thanks a mil for sharing!! Awesome personality btw.

Actually adding the darker color or a mid level color to render with the lighter color, it's a technique done I have known for over 2 decades and it's even done from before in fine art with oil painting. In this case tho, what they post looks like they just paint over photos and ai art

This person is obviously a scammer (bro is pulling ears out of nowhere, drawing strokes in another direction etc etc), but if anybody wants to use a brush that can do almost everything this person is doing, it is possible in csp at least (not sure about procreate). Maybe you would need to adjust a few things before doing different parts of the face (making the hue relative to the tilt, adjusting the brush tip and maybe lowering the opacity at 6:17) but it's still possible to make and operate such a brush with relative ease. (I made a prototype in less than 10 minutes.)
That's what I was thinking. I know a bunch of brushes that almost do the work for you. This person is obviously faking based on other evidence, but the multiple colors and opacity change is definitely possible.
@@donyori yes, exactly, glad I'm not the only one.

massive THANK YOUUU!!! i have a thread on Twitter from 2021 exposing what i knew about ylanast back then, it didn't reach a huge audience because i have a small following however i felt it necessary to do nonetheless, as an artist i saw right through her from day one, it's not the first time a big artist like that has been exposed for faking 'art processes' like that, it's very noticeable in hyperrealism art styles.
what gets to me the most is the amount of money she's made off of the backs of people just wanted to learn how to draw and just have fun learning about new techniques and so on. ylanast would make A LOT of mistakes in process videos, if you have a keen eye you can catch some of the more quiet ones but things like that ear appearing from the hair after one stroke IS CRAZY OBVIOUS!!
i feel bad for those who financially supported her or just liked her in general, she's nothing but a money hungry scammer and that's all she'll be.

Thank you for sharing this, sucks how easily people can fake art like this nowadays. Also glad this popped up in my recommended because now I've found your channel and love your videos 💖
I have bought her course and brushes, I posted a video about it few days back. People need to see how she really is😂
The queen is back! Dude i love her accent so much
Photorealism is so boring I’m tired of people thinking it’s the best art of all time, loved hearing you talk about it!
i like realistic art, and i like seeing people confosed, thinking if it's a photo or not
it's not the best, because all styles are equal, but it's not the worst , because all styles are equal
just because it takes more time that stylised art doesn’t mean it takes more skill but some people don’t understand that i guess
Thank you. Style and expression are important, too.
It hurts 10× more when they never use their skill to draw weird creatures in a very realistic way, it makes me depressed 🗿. So much skill to draw anything but very little creativity.
All styles are beautiful but I prefer impressionalist style the most.
You're amazing with you sense of humor and attention to detailes. Subscribed.Keep going!❤🔥
i’m glad an influential account brought awareness to this. ylanast has such a huge following so it makes it really hard to out her, altho many have tried in the past
I also love seeing them use the mirror tool. Since they're erasing rather than actually drawing, the supposedly 'mirrored' side comes out looking totally different, it's wild that no one notices
I have been talking with a friend about this from quitr some time. I could feel on my guts something was odd but can't seem to find what. I AM GLAD I found this video
I have bought her course and brushes, I posted a video about it few days back. People need to see how she really is😂
I remember trying to draw using Ylanast "art process", and I had to give up nearly halfway through because it just wasn't working out😭 Also kinda unrelated but Rin looks so pretty omg?? Like her makeup is always amazing in each video
Im soooo sooo happy you are exposing them! I thought i was seeing things when i came across some of their posts on ig. I honestly felt like something was fishy but I just couldn’t figure out what exactly since nobody was saying anything. Also i'm pretty sure this isn't the only "artist" doing this, i've actually seen plenty ☠️
bro i used to follow this person omds I feel so blind, truly a little blind mole today I have been hoodwinked, bamboozled and scammed.
I saw this video in my recommended and I thought you were one of the art pieces… you’re so stunning omg. And I love your accent n vibes. Subscribed now😌💞💞💞
Speaking of artists that do free courses - Marc Burnet (professional in the art industry) also does them on his youtube! He has a paid course as well but his youtube tips are amazing as is AND he has a FREE brush set as well! I got them and I literally use them all the time for shading, they're great
Yes I also like him, I made 2 video about her since I bought her course, one is about course other one is how she fakes the timelapse. We need to sprrad message she is still scaming people with 350$ course.
As an artist myself I could understand faking the process for content. Views = sales a lot of the time. But there's NEVER an excuse for stealing someone else's art, and you should be transparent to the people wanting to learn how to draw like you that your process for content & your actual drawing process are different!
Sorry, i know this is an old comment, but i want to say something XD
It is ok to "fake" process for content IF you are not selling brushes/courses and basically making it seem like if you buy these brushes/courses your actual process will look like that. Faking the process in that sense - is still wrong.
I swear I literally googled last week about any information whether they are a scam artist. and now i have my answer.
as someone who knows how digital drawing works, seeing her "speedpaints" are an instant red flag. one of the biggest ones is how they manage to "draw" so many hyper realistic drawings in such a short time. they are almost posting everyday. they are just flexing with "skill" at how fast you could learn to draw if you'd just buy their courses because it takes so long to learn art, especially hyperrealism. thats why people get frustrated and want an easy way to learn faster. they want shortcuts and Ylanast is selling them that false hope.
Girl, you killed me! 😂
Keep up the good job, exposing these fake artist.
hello! i love watching and listening to you! ur accent scratches my brain in the best way possible
I have no clue who you are or who the person in the video was before I clicked on this in my reccomendations but boy am I glad to have leaned something here! Thank you so much for making this video to inform people about this scammer ❤
I love you so much, been waiting for people to catch on and cover how deceptive the artist is.
They sometimes just straight up put photos through an oil filter (like that of PS) and paint a little over it. The textures when you zoom in are a dead give away. The worst part is that they’re an artist so people give them the benefit of the doubt saying they do have the skill to do this stuff. Which is the worst type of artist. Faking it cause they have a bit of skill and trust from their audience to carry their careers and fool people easily.
She’s just faking ai art with filters and pretending she’s creating it all on her own. The brushes don’t do shit.
Edit: many apparently are stolen brushes she didn’t make herself, according to the testimony of people who have purchased and examined them 😭
I just discovered ur channel and I love ur content so much!! Also ur hair is so gorgeous
congrats on 60k!!!
i just came to see a scammer and i just fall in love
THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABT HER I GOT SCAMMED BY HER!!
This situation reminds me of an traditional speddpaint artist that an account exposed for faking their speedpaints and selling prints that were advertised as originals
I love ur accent rin ur voice is so nice to listen too!
This scam is common! its one of the reasons i make free brushes for the community and show the community how brushes are made. I never charge and never will charge for anything
Thank u for debunking this! I seriously thought my brushes or my technique were really bad that I couldn’t make portraits this efficiently and needed to go back and forth to get the right shapes.
You had me at eleventeen brushes. Thank you for your service 🙌
I have bought her course and brushes, I posted a video about it few days back. People need to see how she really is😂
you got a new sub, Thanks for letting me know about this scam that's been going on, on the internet, and also making me laugh hehe.
it was already suspicious enough for me when they start from a bald head and face already rendered but managed to not make the hair look like an after thought
