You know, I never noticed, but Riften's prison/jail is *significantly* nicer than any of the other ones in Skyrim. Fully furnished, carpet, well lit and cozy. It's nicer than most people's home! Nice bit of immersive level design that.
You could theoretically get a full daedric set without leaving any city by grinding your levels up until merchants start selling daedric hearts and ebony ingots.
Totally! Maybe that's something we can try in a future challenge. I did quite a bit of smithing grinding during these streams, but felt it helped differentiate this video from previous ones if I skipped what limited skill grinding we did!

The other day I was playing and an enemy was killed right outside of Dawnstar, and no less than eight people walking by all said "Oh no, what happened?" in succession before continuing on their way, I almost died laughing.
There's a mod that you can get for the Thieves Guild called "Localized Thieves Guild Jobs", it allows you to pick which city you'd like a job in, and in addition allows you to get an additional payout if you complete the job within a certain amount of time. It's one of my go-to mods for Skyrim, even though its a small thing, it makes all the difference.
Not to be emotional in the comment section but my sister favorite game was Skyrim, and you always bring the content and reminds me of my sister’s happiest moments playing Skyrim with me. Thank you, she got a real good laugh from the Whiterun challenge. Thank you Joov!
I’ve come to comment because I’m so happy with the fact that the blacksmith in riften was mentioned!! I’ve married him in basically every play though I’ve ever done since I started playing!! I love him dearly!! 😭💖💖
Was really looking forward to this one because Riften is so filled in content. It's always my go-to whenever I decide I want to just RP being a more regular citizen
Dude it's incredible where you started and where you are now. I'm just glad I could have been a part of your history, bud. Had fun playing Phasmo with you over a year ago, and I still look back at it fondly. Keep it going dude, loving the content more and more!
This really takes me back to my first playthrough of Skyrim. I did everything there was to do there, EVERYTHING. It was such a dreary place that I decided that everyone deserved to die. So I killed everyone. All that remained was a ghost town, littered with filth and corpses. I always refer to that day as the Riften Massacre.
I didn't kill everyone but in my first real playthrough I fucked something up and had everyone come after me. I was strong enough to kill most of the city but I couldn't keep it that way. Lol I love riften
I did this with whiterun during the play through I made a character based off of my grandma’s cat after she died. I couldn’t even do half of the miscellaneous quests I had anymore lol
Same thing happened on my first playthrough but in my case i nuked Markarth, see, Riften is a shithole but you know what you're getting yourself into from the get go but the people from Markarth? Fuck em.
I remember killing every guard in Ivarstead and declaring myself the ruler of Ivarstead on my first playthrough. Think that was the only time I've killed a whole bunch of people in a town without saving first.
When the visitor tax is so high, you just decide to never leave again. This was really fun to watch, thank you for making it! Also I will not be able to have Marcurio be my follower ever again without hearing these words. You know which ones.
Maaaaaan Marcurio is an A-Grade follower in my book. I usually did sword+shield or sword+magic so having an extra atronach or some ice spikes was always nice
Honestly this is how I usually play my play throughs. I like to immerse myself by actually living as a citizen somewhere, and I’ll actually stay out for a while, doing honest work. By honest work whether it’s working at a Mill, or in a Mine, or Smithing, etc. and I’ll let adventure unfold naturally. Playing on survival mode helps the immersion because you’ll need more and more gold to survive and that leads down certain paths. It’s just a good way to get immersed, and one thing I can say Skyrim did better than the previous titles. It allows you to do honest work, buy or build your own home, have a family if you want. I just hope the next elder scrolls is even more immersive. Hopefully just bigger towns, cities and villages.
The rift is the most easily defined region in skyrim, with it hard to leave it without realizing you’ve left, north is a giant cliff leading to eastmarch with only 2-3 safe entries (those that don’t involve jumping off a cliff and dying) into the hold, south is a mountain and impassable border, east is also a mountain and impassable border, west is also a mountain with one singular entry into falkreath (which is lined with with stone totems so hard to not miss). I was able to get a lot done and had an interesting experience by just staying in the rift and riften, so if you ever see this, I hope you consider doing a stuck in the rift video.
When you decided to allow the docks as part of Riften, it made me think that another challenge you could do is play only in the hold for each area. It would allow more quests to be completed.
This is one of the best series I’ve ever watched. The videos are always unique and you never know what will happen, you’ve shown so many parts of Bethesda cities that I didn’t even know was in the game! If you see this, I would love to see a fallout new vegas based one.
Thanks for watching! One of the harder aspects is trying to make them all unique in a way. I do plan on eventually bringing New Vegas into the mix. If you'd like, I just recently found someone who's done a similar challenge in goodsprings! th-cam.com/video/x0bo0TemFVQ/w-d-xo.html
I can see how it would be difficult. I’ll be watching whatever content you put out so keep up the great work, I’ll also make sure to check out that video.

Joov, you're really gonna blow up and I'm so here for it. Love all of your videos and excited for what's to come! Your humor and deep dives into these cities and games are what makes it so refreshing. Thank you!
I loved the style and humor of this episode, you're definitely underrated. Thank you for publishing this episode with my favourite Skyrim city on my birthday :))
Riften is definitely my favourite city in Skyrim. It's possibly the most fleshed out and quest-filled city. Having an entire extremely detailed and very rewarding questline, very interactive characters, and it's genuinely fun to mess around in.
You know what I love with you playing skyrim its not just playing skyrim like everyone does but you also RP in the game. U in riften u act and speak to npc and do RPG play like the game was suppose to be. I love it! xD
Riften is definitely Skyrim's little slice of Grand Theft Auto. The Black-Birar Family ruling the city with her hands in every politician's and guard's pockets, being the home to the Thieves guild where you can do heists, a city laden with thieves, bad people, racism, and crime, a fishery under terrible labor conditions, and an explorable sewer filled with psychotic criminals. Hell, if Bethesda had the extra budget, they should expand Riften further and make it a living, breathing, and separate entity from Skyrim, something I know it won't happen in this timeline.
Calling Riften the armpit of Skyrims buttcrack caught me off guard man 😂. Even if you love Riften there's no denying that's true, it's corrupt from top to bottom
I remember the very first time I entered riften, I thought I’d have to pay the visitor tax every time I wanted to enter the city. Because if this, I tried to do as much as I possibly could in the city before I left. Let’s just say, I spent a lot of time in the city and was very shocked when I learned I did not have to pay the tax every time
13:00 I would give that thief a 15% because while he is dead he did give you a pretty dope quest that let you have a new interaction with sniff (btw kinda messed up you skipped the thief even tho you talked about sapphire imo js js) and they were posing in a seductive way for you
For the thieves guild radiant quest if you quick save after the dialogue but before the quest you can keep quick loading until it says the city you want. For anyone trying to complete the thieves guild :)
This was so great, I love Riften, but I never realized that it is the only Skyrim city to not have kids actively running around, they are stuck in that orphanage 24/7 Also wanted to say that your storytelling and editing is great, I think you have a great mind for comedy
Plus the kids that are in town have evolved their passtimes away from playing tag and towards conspiracy to murder, which makes them much more entertaining company.
I know diamond city was probably the most boring one of these to play but because it's so difficult to get rich in that game while being region locked I loved watching it
I loved riften. Its a bit of a rats nest but it has charm that the other cities dont to me. I did a challenge like this except i counted the fall forest all around riften as well so it was more of a riften territory only run
Balimund. A quick help with the early lockpick and we never would have expected the foreshadowing of your marriage. He gives you the lockpick in dire times. You pay him back with the fire salts. A happy ending. (Also I hear you with that music in the Breaking Bad chapter 👀)
When my cousin first showed me the game Skyrim, it was one of the best days of my life. I have been effortlessly in love with mmorpgs since. And she told me about Artic Monkeys same day. Amazing day man. We used to laugh at “White Run” say stuff like “Black Sprint” “Grey Jog”. Great times
I lol'd reading this. The stress was honestly SO bad. It would've been really funny if I failed it however....almost wish I did now that I think about it XD
Wouldn’t it be easier to quicksave/quickload before and after asking for radiant quests instead of accepting and quitting a job outside of riften (or are you not considering it because it’s a cheap strategy)?
Okay I've got an interesting-ish one, can you play Skyrim without leaving the ocean? You can pick whichever big body of water you like, but once you go in, you can't go onto any dry land ever again.
Heya Joov! I'm loving the content, and I have an idea for a region lock for you. Play as an Argonian (I know you did already, but keeping it thematic) and restrict yourself to only the waterways of Skyrim! Rivers, ponds, lakes...waterfalls? I don't even know if it's going to be possible honestly, but I feel like it would be fun to try out!
I think it's a little more interesting if you include the surrounding village area, you're obviously not trying to break your own arbitrary rules so i say let it rock if you do any more in the future.
I've always played the original release Skyrim because that's what I first bought. I was vaguely aware of SSE and anniversary addition but nothing really made me want to play it until this video. New quests and player homes is worth it to me!
Loved this one, Riften is a lot more packed with stuff than I expected, even without the Anniversary Edition's additional content. Good choice for this challenge! Fighting Tythis over the chopping block and murdering him with a fishing rod was golden. Also I must say, I love the use of Deus Ex music near the beginning. I'm not sure if you do suggestions or the like for ideas, but I'm curious about the Institute in Fallout 4. I'm sure it'll be just as God-awful as Diamond City, but you would be literally entombed with a bunch of annoying scientists to brutally murd- I mean befriend and assist. I wonder if it'll be more or less filled with stuff than the "Great" Green Jewel.
The biggest pain in Madesi's fetch quest: Flawless Sapphires. Rare compared to the other two requested items and you need two of them. Mammoth tusks are practically guaranteed after killing a mammoth, you can transmute iron ore to silver, then silver ore to gold, easy if you have the "Transmute" Alteration spell and enough magicka. Flawless sapphires can be mined for but GL with RNG.
In my opinion, Riften is one of the cities in Skyrim
Okay dude no need to get that political
That's pretty controversial
Too far man, too far
Where'd you get that from, man?

Balimund. A quick help with the early lockpick and we never would have expected the foreshadowing of your marriage. He gives you the lockpick in dire times. You pay him back with the fire salts. A happy ending.
(Also I hear you with that music in the Breaking Bad chapter 👀)
It's MY TURN with the wood chopping block!
This is my favorite series on TH-cam and perfect to watch while I power level my restoration
These are great. I encourage you to do the smaller towns.
Great times
The struggle of making enough gold for 1 lock pick before he cannot stall any longer was real. lol, great way to start riften.
I lol'd reading this. The stress was honestly SO bad. It would've been really funny if I failed it however....almost wish I did now that I think about it XD
4:16 "N-n-no s-s-sign o-o-of h-h-him..."
Oh Skyrim you lovable mess
Wouldn’t it be easier to quicksave/quickload before and after asking for radiant quests instead of accepting and quitting a job outside of riften (or are you not considering it because it’s a cheap strategy)?
I believe He’s playing survival mode
@@heartdex you can still quicksave in survival mode. I do it all the time
@@jennahinckley8216 oh really? I haven’t tried Skyrim’s ive only played FO4s survival lol my bad
I feel you on that wood chopping block. I used to sit there making arrows at the forge all day long and deal with that tythis
Okay I've got an interesting-ish one, can you play Skyrim without leaving the ocean?
You can pick whichever big body of water you like, but once you go in, you can't go onto any dry land ever again.
This is the most intense I've ever seen that reverse-pickpocket quest at the start
I have to ask you an important question. What’s the fine for necrophilia In these parts of Skyrim
"Cheap 500 gold street bussy" had me cry laughing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Killer croc playthrough
"500 gold street bussy" was dastardly
I think it's a little more interesting if you include the surrounding village area, you're obviously not trying to break your own arbitrary rules so i say let it rock if you do any more in the future.
God "the armpit of skyrim's buttcrack" is SUCH a good descriptor for Riften
you can't just kill grelod without suplexing her, that's just how it has to be
I've always played the original release Skyrim because that's what I first bought.
"Some cheap 500 gold street bussy"
I'm fuckin crying LMMFAO
Dude I absolutely laughed my ass off from 14:47-15:00
Thanks for the amazing content
The biggest pain in Madesi's fetch quest: Flawless Sapphires. Rare compared to the other two requested items and you need two of them. Mammoth tusks are practically guaranteed after killing a mammoth, you can transmute iron ore to silver, then silver ore to gold, easy if you have the "Transmute" Alteration spell and enough magicka. Flawless sapphires can be mined for but GL with RNG.
Great content, keep up the good work!
The Thieves' Guild would make sense if Skyrim TESV didn't have graphical limitations and had a bigger city with more people than guild members.
Incredible storytelling Joov. Yours is one of my absolute favorite channels I've recently discovered.
