- Back in SoCal and finally hit gold while park metal detecting with my Minelab Equinox 800 metal detector. Hit a dozen tot lots and found so many things!
First thing I did when I got home was hitting the cupcake store... Was there really any other option...
This was a fun hunt and I could not believe it when I found gold for the first time in many months.... sweet!

Magnetic container is probably a Geocache. What a gentleman getting Christine a muffin.
It could have been but kinda small for that.... It looks like a hide-a-key... either way it was rusted out....
Really great tip about hitting the playgrounds when they are wet to keep track of where you have been!
It works best if it stopped raining... it started again and all the high spots I knocked down vanished... But I really try to "paint" the whole area especially since I have had some great targets out in the middle of tot lots away from any toys.

Thanks... I do find it interesting when I get an object that has been there a while like the container or a deep beat up coin since I hit the same parks a lot.... so easy to miss stuff. Gold was sweet

WOW! That's enough clad for multiple cupcakes! The hide-a-key may have been a geocache container. I used to put the same neodymium magnet in them and attach them in streetside 'shells' where payphones used to be. They always had a paper log which could've disintegrated in your find.

its amazing that canadian penny isnt completely corroded. they are corroded to heck up here. you guys have us hooked on detecting tot lots. its amazing how many rings you can find at kids playgrounds.
LOL... yes, I don't think the Canadian penny was probably there too long... Although mostly bling, I have been getting a couple silver and now gold from the tot lots. I laugh when people tell me not to waste my time in a tot lot...OK

Congrats on the ring find it cool if you give it back to the owner. Also, an idea not sure if you've done before could, you put all your ring finds into one big video montage just a thought. Cupcakes for Christine as well awesome video love the finds.
I would love to return every special ring to the owners... it is nearly impossible but we do research to see if anyone local posted a loss. So far we have only reunited one ring and are working on another. Although it is exciting to find them, there is always a little sadness because I had a ring stolen once and I know how it feels to lose something important. Also, we do a year in review and highlight our finds.... thank you very much

I have been on a gold drought since August it has to break soon. Congrats on the ring, you might be able to have a return with the engravings inside. Returns are cool it makes you feel better than the find. I wanted to hear Christine do a tractor. LOL
I was thinking the same thing... The only hard part is not knowing where they were married but we are going to try and find the couple... Hopefully you find gold soon.... I really felt like I was doing something wrong since I usually find at least one gold item a month.... oh well...comes with the territory.
Amazing how quickly those tot lots fill back up with treasure in just a few weeks after hunting them. It’s like that in my area too. I have about 20 or so playgrounds in the yakima area that I keep hunting month after month. Your finds look similar to mine as well. Lots of bling jewelry and hundreds of dollars in clad coins. I want to send you a fisher f4 to test out and keep or give away to your subscribers. I’ll email you guy’s to get your info since I don’t have it anymore.
Yeah, I was wondering how I would do.... that tells me I need about a 2 to 3 week spread on the winter and maybe every week or every other week in the summer. It is like having a paper route when I was a kid... Thanks, Christine said you emailed her.... I think she is handling it. That is awesome

Congrats on the gold ring!! And check out all the varying stuff and change. Good hunt! Know how you feel about the gold. Last year just one gold ring. The first 2 months this year found 3 gold rings but the last 20 hunts (just under 3 hours each) NOTHING - Im going 'where's the gold"??
Yeah, it is the goal I guess... I like finding strange things but gold is gold... I was beginning to think I was doing something wrong....
The rusty metal key hide thing with the magnet looks like it could have formerly been a geocache that got lost or vandalized; that junk inside could have been the rolled up log
Very possible... It is too far gone to know... I have not tried geocaching in a long time... might be interesting to try again

Thanks... I think the volume of parks I cover helps. For example I hit at least a dozen parks and had about 8 hours of hunting time to nab this loot. Some parks were loaded and a couple were bad. I had one park where I did not even find a penny... that tells me it was probably detected before I got to it.

Great finds as usual. The tot lots I go to in my area do not seem to hold the amount of items your tot lots hold. Nice gold ring find!! With a date and a name it may not be too hard to find the owner. Hope you do find the owner as I'm sure they would be extremely happy to get the ring back.

Those itty bitty things came out of a pendant that is clear and has a screw-on face. You can put all kinds of tiny charms inside. They're called "floating lockets"...and the thing that opens IS the floating locket. Did you find those near each other?

Gosh, what a fantastic day you had! The gold ring and ALL THAT MONEY. Wow! And, the end of the video was hilarious. P.S. How many children have run one of those nails, tacks, screws and wires into their knees and feet? I would never have thought there could be so many dangerous things hiding on the playgrounds.

The town of Los Banos has 46 parks and I hit them all in a 2 day span and payed for it for about a week, I hurt so bad.

Bill, what do you think about the new Parks using rubber for their Tot lot ground material? Such a disappointment when I see they are rubber and not sand or wood chips.
I think it is a good idea for kids because the wood chips get really nasty especially after time. But I do get sad when I go to a park and they changed it out. It is happening more and more. I went to one of my favorite parks the other day and it was fenced off... you know that means they are gonna swap out the chips....I also have done pretty good hunting the grass around the tot lots since parents sit there to watch the kids...

The tractor you found is missing a bottom claw. This is a tractor that picks up the rolled hay you see in the fields. The first time I had seen rolled hay was in northern W.Germany in 1979 where I was stationed with the USAF. The ship's wheel diamond and what looks like a package may have come out of that Keepsake clear pendant. Good find.

Can you tell me what settings you use when detecting in parks please. Do you leave it on Factory Settings ?
Do you like big or small coils for parks.
I actually prefer the 6 inch for around the toys but the down side is it takes longer to clear the open areas and easier to miss stuff in the open. I have had some good finds away from the toys. In a perfect world, I should use the 6 and clear the toys then switch to the bigger coil for the rest of the areas. However, another thing I like about the 6 is when you are over a target, you only have to check a much smaller area....
