Psych nursing being understaffed was one of my main reasons why I wanted to do nursing. Sometimes they're really crazy, but also sometimes they just need someone to talk to. I want to help those people who are left there at the corner of the world and offer them a hand to stand back up.
Psychiatric nursing is where I want to work after I graduate. I am starting my consolidation in psychiatric unit in my local area hospital this coming Saturday. The reason I chose this area is I have witnessed my family members, relatives, and friends who have been suffering from mental illnesses.
I’ve been a nurse for about 2 years now and have considered going back and getting my MSN and doing the same but I’m not sure if I would enjoy it. Do either of y’all have any links available for more info on nursing informatics and what it involves?
A huge reason I’m pursuing nursing is because of an amazing psych nurse that took care of me when I was going through a mental breakdown! He inspired me to get sober, work hard, & get my life back together!!!
OB is?! All of the OB nurses at the hospitals around me get reduced for low census on the daily! I am surprised! This totally depends on the areas just as you say. However, we drop big bucks for travel OR nurses (at least 2k take home).
I’m teching in med-surg right now while I’m in nursing school and from what I can tell, I love it and can’t imagine doing anything else at the moment. I understand that I’m young and that my preferences might change but, I don’t understand why no one wants to go into it.
Thank you for the heads up! I'm 4 terms into nursing school and realized that I've only seen the fun part of ER. I didnt have to chart or do any admin work. I thought I wanted to be an OR nurse, but then realized it looks like your just a glorified gofer and this was told to me by a OR nurse! Lol they can only show u soo much in school....👩🏾🎓💖💖 C/O 2020
Wound care. I don’t think it’s super super in demand but it’s definitely something I would love to do. Anything that allows me to have very few patients and not a whole lot of stress.
Hi Nomad Nurse! I’m an L&D nurse, I’m looking to take on my first nursing contract. Gotta be honest I’m a little scared because I know a few medsurge nurses that have been canceled on their contracts. Do you think I should stay at my full time job till the marker stabilizes or should I just dot it now?
I THINK I’d like to get back into facility nursing but am finding it hard (Couplet Care/ Endo were my specialties) although I’ve been teaching students for the past 8 years...
Thanks for the video since it helps put things into perspective for me in my final year of school. Plan to do travel nursing at some point so your channel is super informative!
How hard is it to be hired in medserge without the medserge experience after years of experience in a specialty? Also how much training wiuld they give you if you don't have any medserge experience but experienced in a different specialty ?
Med-Surg is stressful, but to be real, most of the content in nursing school is geared to make you a Med-Surg nurse as most specialties are based on med-Surg principles. I like being a Med-Surg nurse, but I’m ready to go to into the ICU.
A reason a lot of women want NICU is because newborn babies aren't the most difficult patients to care for. Newborns haven't developed any fears and run on very basic survival functions. I was seriously considering NICU until I saw how competitive the field is.
quinton frost I wouldn’t believe it until it happens. They’ve been saying that about nurse practitioners for years (said all new NPs will need doctorate by 2015) and it still hasn’t happened in 2020.
Sir, my first exam result just came in and I failed miserably. I studied the textbook and power points to the point where I could recite what's in the power point. but the exam came and none of the questions was in the textbook/powerpoint. They were so tricky and worded way different than I expected. I got the lowest score in class and now I don't know what to do? I barely slept . I will be glad to hear your advice
I assuming this is pertaining to fundamentals of nursing. In that class, you need to understand the concept rather than memorizing because it’s going to NCLEX style questions. Your school wants you to learn concepts and begin to apply them as you would in the position of a nurse. For example, wound care, you can memorize all stages of pressure ulcers but can you answer a situational question on how to prevent pressure ulcers on a bed-bound patient? Thats how you should go about learning in that class
Hey you should really research on OR nursing or get an OR nurse on your channel . all your videos do OR injustice. OR nursing is actually one of the highest paying travel specialities with cores within the speciality (ortho, neuro, cardiac, plastics, general, gyn, vasuclar). Ortho Neuro and Cardiac OR nurses are in very very high demand especially Ortho since almost every single hospital does it
Despite the fact that it is considered a specialty I really don't consider med surge a specialty. It literally comprises 80% of what nursing is so to me that's not a specialty.
Thanks For watching!
I'm a psych nurse and I love my job!

I feel that! Sometimes it breaks my heart

Critical care was probably # 1 on the list when covid came. Shout out to all the nurses who worked tirelessly during covid pandemic you guys are mvps!
I came for the information.
I stayed for the Australian accent.
Then realized it's southern and loved it even more.
Lol! I like his southern accent too!
As a southerner this comment cracked me up LOL
I am currently working on my MSN in nursing informatics!
I have a few friends that do that and love it
I’ve been a nurse for about 2 years now and have considered going back and getting my MSN and doing the same but I’m not sure if I would enjoy it. Do either of y’all have any links available for more info on nursing informatics and what it involves?

That’s amazing. Was he an NP or RN?
@@colematthews7535 he was an RN
@@SB-ht8uo that’s awesome. Keep it up homie, we need people in the field that can relate.
L&D 🙌🏻🙌🏻 love my mamas and babies 💕👶🏻

Yes! Travel Nurse OB is where it's at!

My step mom worked in the burn unit for so long she loved it, that was one of the specialties she talked the most about
I appreciate this! Online I look for what has job openings. I continually see icu, cc and ER. Just saw med/surg for the first time yesterday.
One year later...Do you have any updates and/or predictions about the most in demand travel nursing specialties for 2021 - 2022?

Nice post. Which specialty is great for male nurse. You said labour and delivery is cool but is it good for a male? What about psyc or NIcu for male?
What are all the roles of Nurse practicioner in midwifery?
Student nurse on TH-cam here! Keep up the good work and great video!
Psych NPs are advertised for everywhere
Great video, so blessed to have so many options. Flight nursing seems pretty cool - I may try that at one point!
I THINK I’d like to get back into facility nursing but am finding it hard (Couplet Care/ Endo were my specialties) although I’ve been teaching students for the past 8 years...
Hi Crosby, have this list changed in 2022? Thanks 😊
Would I be able to get some travel jobs if i went in to psych?
What nursing speciality should someone go into if you are not detailed oriented?
Thanks for the video since it helps put things into perspective for me in my final year of school. Plan to do travel nursing at some point so your channel is super informative!

What are your thoughts on plastic surgery nursing
Rashidi Payne following. I hear PACU nurses sometimes transition into plastic surgery offices.
What are your thoughts about telemetry nursing?
I think it's great specialty.
Very good intel! Thanks
Im considering L&d , I want to become a nurse midwife eventually. Is that in high demand?
Your adorable! Thank You!
Why is the turnover rate so high in med-surg?
Burnout
crna isn't worth it anymore, from what iv read and heard crna requires a doctorate degree in 2025

Welp ICU or TELE it is lol (Ob is def not for me)
MSU nurses are incredible but their patient load is ridiculous sometimes from what I’ve seen.
