  • The Festool MFS set up and review
We have a new tool in The Woodgrafter workshop, the Festool MFS Routing template.
The Festool MFS Routing template as the name suggests is a routing template from Festool. A versatile template that allows you to accurately pretty much anything with your router.
In this video we unbox the MFS 400 and the MFS 700, look at ist key features and carry out a simple "letter box" type cut.
We talk about two PDF manuals in the video, these can be found at:
The Festool MFS Multi-Routing template system by Brice Burrell service.festoo...
Advanced Cutting and Routing Techniques Using the Festool MFS Fence System static1.1.sqspc...
This template is so versatile that I will be creating a number of follow on videos to look at the tips and techniques introduced in the PDF's
Thank you for taking the time to watch my videos, I post on a regular schedule
    - Tool & business tips every Tuesday at 7PM UK time
    - Project build videos every Friday at 7PM
    - Monthly round up VLOG every second Sunday of the month - again at 7PM.

+Kevin Davies Hi Kevin, thank you. I’ll take it as a huge compliment to be linked to Peter, I love what he is doing and it was due to his approach and the work by Peter Parfait that convinced me to have a go at building the business (and documenting it on you tube).
I am learning as I am going with these tools, my background is hand tools, the move to the Festool system was driven by needing to increase productivity in the workshop to make my work competitive in the market.
Yes they are expensive, but can be justified in a business context. I would find it harder to justify if it was purely a hobby (but I would still try :-)
Glad you are enjoying the vids, load more to come.
      Cheers

@UCV5TXedcdM5ZWLqM7eztAXg You are correct sir, that's the fun of doing it in your head whilst concentrating on using a new tool and making a video. :-)
BUT in my defence - I did correct myself in the next sentence and all ended well.
      Thank you for the comment.
      Kind Regards

Nice vlog! The MFS is now in my amazon cart!

+Michael Brindle Thank you Michael glad you like it. I think that is one of those tools that will quickly find a place in multiple workflows.
Not sure where you are in the world, but if UK based I didn’t find Amazon the cheapest for the MFS. Have a look at this company, very fast service, well packaged and about 25% under retail price.

I am not affiliated with them in any way, but worth a look if you are going to invest. The difference in price will buy you some additional rails.

Wow… Great video.. I was thinking of buying OF 1400 router. I just realized I can stay with my existing makita and the MFS with the extension is the one that I was looking for.
Could you show us how Festool MFS-VP 1000 extension works with MFS 400 or 700?

    • @TheWoodgrafter
      @TheWoodgrafter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi,
Yes this will work with any router, you don’t need to go for the OF1400 (although that is probably the best router I have ever used).
Not sure what you are looking for with the final comment. They work in exactly the same way, what information do you need ?

@@TheWoodgrafter I couldn’t find high resolution any photos or video on how the MFS-VP 1000 or 2000 works.
I thought MFS-VS 1000 might be attached to the MFS 400 or 700 to extend the lengths.
However, now I guess it’s just another bar (template guide rail) like the 200/400 mm bar that comes with the MFS 400.

@@beregu ah got it, not the two extensions replace two of the existing guides in the MFS.
If you look at the MFS you have 4 pieces that you slide around to create the opening of the size you require.
The various numbers on the MFS system reflect the maximum size of the opening in mm.
So when you buy the 1000 extensions, just replace two of the components to give a larger opening.
I tend to have a number of different sizes and change them depending on the job in hand.
      Hope that helps.

Hi, sorry to hear about this issue. I have checked the video and all seems to work.
Not sure what to suggest - the videos are in 4K so may be worthwhile trying a lower resolution in case it is a bandwidth problem.
Click on the gear wheel on the video and see if it helps.
      Let me know.
      Cheers
