Medusa was so much stronger than Stein. But she was overconfident. Hence the reason she lost. She could have easily dodge and attack Stein at the same time.
Behold! Best male vs. best female character in Soul Eater! This fight was possibly the best moment in the entire anime for me. It helps that I heavily identify with Stein (especially when he starts laughing maniacally; good times) and Medusa's the hottest woman there, sharing the top spot with horny-cat-witch.
Search stein be medusa and it should be the first episode that pops up and the the next episode after that. But you'll probably have to search for the episode after if it doesn't pop up in the recomended

its either because after becoming Death's weapon the compatability of Spirit and Stein was a bit off and he wasnt able to keep the blade up at all times or just simply because Death Scythe decided not to materialize the blade
