Exploring Downtown Tacoma 1-2-22 | Walking Chihuly Bridge of Glass | Museum of Glass | UW Tacoma ❄️

  • A walking exploration of Downtown Tacoma after a cup of coffee at Anthem Coffee. This is a narrated walk. There is still snow on the ground from the snow storm several days ago, so surfaces are still slippery.
The walk includes Tacoma Bridge of Glass, Museum of Glass and UW (University of Washington) Tacoma Campus.
I took this walk after driving around in the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma. I may upload that video later on as well. ✌️

    A little bit about me...
My name is Dennis aka Lao Ocean (also aka Dr. Wtpho, but more about that later) and I'm a Lao American TH-camr based in Seattle, WA. Seattle has been my home since 1980. My videos and vlogs consist of walking tours in Seattle and abroad, travel, and things related to the Lao diaspora. I drink way too much coffee, eat pho 20PHO7, and also make food and food review videos. 🤓✌️

The courthouse was a train station. My grandmother used to entertain travelers by playing the piano there back in the forties or fifties.

I walked that same area back in March of 2020. It was surreal. Everything was in lockdown and the only person to be seen was a homeless guy pushing a shopping cart down the middle of the Pacific Avenue.

New to your channel, love it! I am a Washington resident for the past 20 years, currently in the South Sound area, and I LOVE Washington State!! You have a great outlook on humanity, geography, and business. Thank you for your walking tours, especially when I can not get to Seattle. Please don't mind the critics, and continue the content. Happy New Year!!

Also did a cruise through Tacoma’s Hilltop area. That video may follow. ✌️

Great video. I actually like the longer videos. I settle in and observe with you making note of things along the way. If you haven’t already, check out a TH-camr called “The Walking Commuter” who does walking tours of NYC. Somehow he manages to field questions from viewers as he walks. I mention this because it would be amazing if you were able to do something similar. I loved the video with Keoke and we need a part 2. I met Keoke back in 95 when we both worked for SeaFirst Bank Customer service. Years later we both worked at UW. Thanks for the videos. I’d love to move back to Seattle one day and you help me make sense of how things are now. Be well!!!!!

That's been pretty well cleared up, I think. Used to be you could tell you were in Tacoma even with your eyes closed, the pulp mill stench was so bad. (That was back in the sixties and seventies). 100% better now.

    • @LaoOcean
