Hey man, do you remember an issue that had Spawn going around putting spirits to rest? Like there was a kid who'd been mauled by a bear while playing hide-and-seek, and I think Spawn plays with him to allow him to move on or something, and another was the ghost of a samurai whom Spawn gave one last honorable duel before he departed for the afterlife. I read it a p long time ago but I remember genuinely liking that issue
Off the top of my head I don't,but it does sound familiar. The recent stories in Japan had a similar vibe, and I want to say some of the early issues around the late 20s and early 30s when Spawn was traveling might have had that in them.
You missed out on some great stuff! I love Capullo and seeing him evolve into the artist he is today through spawn is really fun! Plus, I'd honestly say 16-18 the Morrison/capullo story is one of my all time favorites in all of spawn!
+Kurt Kroc if you haven't read them already all the guest issues are really fun! The Grant Morrison issues and Alan Moore ones are great! Outside of that I think issues 27-36 have some of my favorite spawn moments and truly awesome stories
I've heard old Spawn stories haven't aged well, so I'm looking into getting more Spawn stories that may be better or more accessible in this day and age. Where should I start?
Bit of a long story lol Short version is there was a second Spawn named Jim Downing after Al "killed" himself . The new spawn had a different look and altered powers.
I have a couple of the HC origins. My spawn collection is kind of chaotic . Mostly tpb, and origins HC, with a couple of the giant absolute/omnibus that collect 25 issues
I think the strongest stories are in the beginning - stuff like The Hunt was just awesome. I guess between 1 - 40 are my favorite arcs. And of course 93-100. After that I gets a bit weak (the Hines run around issue 160 was great too - Spawn Armageddon). Spawn - The Undead is a great spin-off, aswell as Dark Ages and Blood Feud. I read the newer stuff but I think it's just okay. Dark Horror was a good volume but Enemy of the State was kind of lame. Still one of my favorite comic characters.
That is a long weird story . The short version is due to the outcome of a court case involving Neil Gaiman and Todd Macfarlane Angela changed ownership from image to marvel. Marvel tried to tie her to continuity in different ways and ended up with the long lost relative story.
@@TheRealJasonWay that's really strange considering angela has like..killed other characters in the spawn comics, then to change to marvel, where I'm assuming they don't really go that far with their comics with a character. Basically watering her character down.
+marcus talerico It was VERY weird! Both spawn and Marvel hint around her past but now neither can legally mention important things involving her. There's been some decent stories from marvel involving her, but she has bee cleaned up quite a bit.

Glad there is a Spawn Resurgence that has come with Spawn Universe and the new first issues coming out.
Spawn #90 is definitely one of my favourites.
